Full Version: Consolidation of Private Student Loans
CreditBoards > Financing > Student Loans

I've got multiple private student loans (from BankOne:EducationOne) that I want to consolidate. The loans have been sold to AES and I am now paying interest on one of them but the others are in deferment until 2006.

It seems like information on consolidating private loans is a little hard to come by - all the websites I see are touting their Federal Consolidation programs and have little or no mention of their private loan consolidation options.

So...CAN I consolidate my private loans? If so, does anyone have experience with doing so that can give advice on a company to choose?

I have one class to take this summer then I'm all finished yahoo.gif so I'm tring to get a head start on all this mess.

Thanks for reading and for any help!

Have you asked AES if they have a program to consolidate your private loans?

One lender/guarrantor I know for sure who consoldiates private loans is Student Loan Xpress. They will also consoldiate any cc debt where you can reasonably show that the charge was made for tution/fees at your school.

sorry.gif

Guess I should have thought of that. I checked the website and they offer consolidation through Key Bank that looks like it would work well for me.

Thanks for the help!

I have two loans serviced w/ AES (originated from Bank One). I asked that question to the AES rep who told me that "I cannot consolidate 'private' student loans".
