  1. Do I send a copy of a utility bill or an original? I also have 2 problems regarding my DW... 1. none of our utilities are in my DW's name. Can I send a copy or original of her credit card statement? 2. we moved 3 years ago and my DW's DL still has our previous address... will this cause trouble?
  2. After deleting address (or at least as many as they would delete) and opting out as instructed. I have sent pre-HIPAA letters to all three CRA for my medical and also for my DW medical collections/TLs. So far, DW has had 2 deleted from EQ and I have had 1 deleted from TU. I am still waiting on EQ for a response. Yesterday both my DW and myself received the following response from Experian: "We received a suspicious request regarding your personal credit information that we have determined was not sent by you. This could be deemed as deceptive or fradulent use of your information. We have not taken action on this request. Any future requests made in this manner will not be processed and will not receive a response. Suspicious requests are taken seriously and reviewed by Experian security personnel who will report deceptive activity, including copies of letters deemed as suspicious , to law enforcement officials and to state or federal regulatory agencies." FYI: we followed the instructions to the 'T'. Teal Italic font (used handwriting font) printed on yellow blue lined paper... hand written envelope and sent CM... (no RR). What should I do now about Experian? My initial thought would be to resend the pre-HIPAA along with copies of our drivers license, ss cards and a copy of a utility bill... of course I will hold off and follow whatever step is recommended from the experts.
  3. Question for Why Chat.... My DW had surgery this summer and although we have received the bill for one of the procedures, we were unable to pay it until this month... unfortunately, last week she received a letter that the OC has sent the account to a CA. It has not reported to the CRAs yet and we are able to pay it as of today. Would the shortened version of the HIPAA letter you recommended to D&G work for my DW's situation?
  4. I'm hoping for some guidance with a problem. Charter One has reported two checking accounts to ChexSystems for ACCOUNT ABUSE. They both were reported on 12/2005. One item I had outstanding overdraft of $544.76 and it was charged off. I have recently paid off a settlement to RJM Acquisitions who purchased that debt. The other item listed does not show a debt reported. It was an account that I had at the same time as the other but there was no overdraft. My questions is what can I do to get these removed? How does the fact that I paid the settlement to RJM effect the chexsystems entry? Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.
  5. Thanks alot Why Chat!! Just to clarify... FedEx is ok? Will it be ok for the pre-hipaa? The other non-medical are: 1. OC: Charter One Bank - CA:Island National/RJM Acqu. - Currently I am on a payment plan (did this before I became edjucated on credit repair) I will be making my last payment in October. 2.OC: Gas Company (from old address) - CA:CBT Credit Service - Owe $540 (I will have the funds to pay in December. 3. This is my DWs - OC: HSBC - CA:Portfolio Recovery - CA's TL shows $671 owed. The OC also has a TL that says balance $0, account sold. The 3 CRAs show Highest Balance as $584. But EX also has in the status line: Transferred, closed; $295 written off. - Charge off as of Aug 2007. Thank you again for all the help
  6. I will get the address deletion letters out in the mail tomorrow. Should I send them CM or CMRRR? Also, instead of CM or CMRR can I send them FedEx? I can send via FedEx for free at work. FedEx will notified me when it arrives and I can print a proof of delivery with a signature online... what do you think? I live in Ohio. One of the non-medical is a land phone line from Verizon. The CA is AFNI. The TL on all three CRs shows the date open as 6/2009 which is WRONG. It was from my old house and we moved in July 2007. The others are just over 2 years old. What do you recommend? I just checked both counties that I have lived in while and since the initial medical service was done. Neither of them have any records of pending action, consent to judgement or even a complaint regarding this matter. I'll wait until it is updated to paid and then I will start the HIPAA process. (If it updates to anything else, I'll post before proceeding) In the meantime I will get the address deleted, should I delete all previous address or just the one that all of the OC would have from the time the debt happened?
  7. Thanks Why Chat! Here are the answers to your questions and my follow ups: The Medical accounts that are paid are under 4 yrs old.... does this me HIPAA won't work? I will make sure to get verification before I pay the OC... Following your process. Addresses deleted: Do you have a sample on how I should word these letters?... will they delete an address that I moved from only two yrs ago? There are other old address that are not associated with the time frame of the Medical Account... should I request these to be deleted as well? The non-medical are still within SOL... I was going to PFD these accounts. Your thoughts? I would PDF the OC... correct? The medical account that I am paying now is not a consent judgement (my lawyer got to them just in time), It currently shows as a collection and as long as I pay it off next month it will show as a Paid Collection.... (Only way it would show Judgement is if I do not pay next week) Will the HIPAA process work for this once it is updated to Paid Collection? If so, should I wait on sending the pre-HIPAA to the CRAs for the others until this is paid and I can add it to the pre-HIPAA letters? If not... and I know it is a long shot... should I GW the CA or maybe even have my lawyer who brokered the deal, talk to them and make the request. (If I knew then what I know now... I would have asked my lawyer to make it a condition of the PIF)

  9. I am currently paying a CA for a medical collection. I will be making the final payment next month. The payment arrangements were made by my lawyer to avoid a judgement.... Legally this payment arrangement is a condition of a "Voluntary Dismissal" and I have to pay it as stated to complete the condition and no judgement will be ordered, if I don't pay it the judgement will be ordered. Anyways, my question is.... after I make the final payment, can I use the HIPAA process to have it removed? From reading past posts and in a normal situation I know the answer is yes... I just want to make sure with this situation it will be ok. I have 4 other medical collections (1 paid & 3 not paid) that I want to use the HIPAA process with but I don't want to start it yet if I can also add the one I'm paying off next month. Also regarding the process... I have opt-out of the CRAs and sent letters opting-out of the others that I'm suppose to. About 20 mins ago I posted a question about my previous address and not being sure if I can have it deleted because I have been at my current address for only about 2 years. Should I skip that step? FYI: I do have 3 other non-medical collections that I'm planning to PFD at the end of this month... all three of them are from my previous address. Any help would be awesome... my wife & I are trying to get our credit life in order so that next summer we can purchase a home. Thank you in advance!
  10. New to the board and I have a question regarding old addresses. About half of my collection problems are from my current address that I have lived at for about 2 years and the rest is from my most recent previous address. My problem is that on anything that i fill out that asks for my address, also asks for a previous address because it has been less the 3 years. Do I have to delete the previous address to go to the next step.... pre-hipaa letters?
