US Bank & CLIs - what has your experience been?
rickt411 replied to fthboregon's topic in Credit Forum
Just got an auto CLI on my FlexPerks card from $1500 to $2000. Have had the card about 9 months, put a little usage in the form of a BT through it early, nothing charged to it lately (past few months). Actually tried for some LUV on my own a few months back and was shot down, then get a letter this week stating $500 auto CLI, so not sure why I was suddenly worthy. However, in my experience such happenings are not limited to any one card company...weird/YMMV things happen all the time... -
Fair Collections and Outsourcing / Settlement offer and Affects on CRA
rickt411 replied to sexyblue1's topic in Credit Forum
FCO is very tough...as you stated they do not do PFD. Nor will they extend any goodwill after payment. Not sure how paid collection will look to CC UWs. After all, a collection, paid or unpaid, is still a collection. Except for manual reviews for mortgages or other instances (not sure of many) where paid/settled would equal clean enough reports to move forward...not sure about CCs, I'm sure others will chime in. I am also a NYS resident. I settled with FCO and they came off my reports automatically after 5 years for TU and EQ. Cannot get it off EX no matter what I try; it's stuck. I settled with FCO because I needed to satisfy landlord requests (provisional 6 month lease based on my credit -- bad -- at the time; he agreed to run credit again once 6 months were up and extend based on having this and a few other baddies cleaned/satisfied). If you are frustrated with lack of CLIs and don't need a mortgage, aren't in this type of situation, etc. not sure if paying will get you the desired results. I suggest calling GECRB using the magic number for Amazon and Wal Mart. People have had good CLI success using that route. Just search the boards for relevant threads. Good luck! -
Same experience here. Did PC via online chat, was done in two minutes. I know it's not the best deal, but since I can switch from the card I already have (More) makes sense to lock in 1% with no restrictions rather than slogging my way up to a threshold and only getting 0.25% in the meantime...

It almost looks as if Experian would say the date it was paid from is 2009, not 2007. I get what you are saying, same account, but Experian.. Date paid is 2009, but reporting date of delinquency (for lack of a better/more accurate term) is 1/2007...interpretation of NYS general business law leads me to believe that the 5 year clock starts ticking once reported. In actuality it should start ticking from DOFD, but that part is murky (hard to determine given the situation and lack of supporting docs) and I have a letter from FCO (on their letterhead) citing 1/2007. Given that it is now 2/2013, the 1/2007 date should suffice given that, if you are a NYS resident, paid charge offs and collections should be removed from reports 5 years after reporting (not paid) date. That's not to say that Experian isn't above pulling some shennanigans...as your emoticon says it all with that particular CRA...

I am in the process of trying to get a Fair Collections and Outsourcing paid (settled in full) account off of my Experian report. After doing some research and pulling my latest reports, it seems like TU and EQ follow the NY five year rule, as FCO is no longer on those reports, while EX seems to be more of a pain (research shows that TU and EQ more or less take paid collections off after five years, while they tend to "stick" to EX). Here's verbiage I used in my letter to EX: "Please refer to New York General Business Law, Fair Credit Reporting Act Article 25 Section 380-J, Prohibited Information, which states: No consumer reporting agency shall report or maintain in the file on a consumer, information: (iv) accounts placed for collection or charged to profit and loss which antedate the report by more than seven years; or accounts placed for collection or charged to profit and loss, which have been paid and which antedate the report by more than five years." Account was established with FCO 1/2007, I paid in 2009, and have asked EX to delete based upon the above as, if i understand the above correctly, it should have come off my report in January of last year. I just sent out the CMRR yesterday so it will be some time before I hear back, but I'll keep you posted. Can anyone else chime in on the OP's question or what I've discussed above?

Is it possible to upgrade the CapitalOne Platinum to a better card?
rickt411 replied to El Gato's topic in Credit Forum
Have to agree with the "possible but not probable" statement above...I've been barking up this tree for about a year with no success. I will say that I've had the card for 4 years, started at $300, credit step to $500 after a few statements as advertised, and after 2 years did get an unsolicited bump to a $2K CL...but it would still be nice to PC to some type of rewards card since I have "graduated" to better cards...will try again next year at AF time and if I don't get a PC, card will be axed. -
Steady at 695...c'mon 700 in October!

$1K CL since Nov. 2011. No six month love, no CLI with automated system after a few attempts. I tend to run a lot of transactions through the card during quarters where the 5% cash back is worth it, so I may be calling in for a discussion on CLI soon...

Mine does the same thing. To get around that, just open an "incognito" browser (in Chrome, not sure what it's called in the other browsers) and you can see the pre-approval page again. However, I just tried, and after entering my info it shot me over to "Please log in", which I did not do, so not sure what it would have done after that. After I log in, it takes me to the compare cards page...no preselected offer link, but wondering if that's just because I am not, in fact, eligible for other cards at this time?

Down 2 points 697 -> 695. Added (2) new tradelines (Chase Freedom and U.S. Bank) so I expected worse...

Chase Freedom Discover More AMEX Zync US Bank Flex Rewards Local bank debit card Chase and Discover are my primaries, rotated based on bonus categories available. Debit card gets little to no use, but also serves as the ATM card should I need cash.

Argh! Just called in to get terms and conditions...did not get the siggy card. Regular card with $1.5K credit line. Was hoping they might at least go a little higher because of my recent Chase $4K line addition. Still, it's a foot in the door of U.S. Bank so no applicant remorse here. It's been great to have these recent successes considering that even just a year ago it was only Cap One and Barclays approving me (although Barclays has shown some love lately). Now, time to garden...water the plants and pull some weeds (once again, I'm looking at you, Cap One) for awhile. My next plan will be to qualify for an AMEX revolver like BCE/BCP -- in time...

About two weeks ago I was approved for a Chase Freedom card after two recons. An interesting thing I learned during that 2nd recon phone conversation was that apparently a Chase-backed store CC was IIB back in '02 (honestly did not recall having any Chase cards, but apparently I did have this one). Even though my BK dropped off in May, they still asked about it in June since one of their cards had been IIB. Safe to say that their memory is at least ten years, maybe even longer... ETA: Of course, after 10 years I was able to speak about the BK and get approval, so they do forgive even if they take awhile to forget...
