Is this answered elsewhere on the board? Sorry if this is a "dumb question," but I really want to know if it's important to use one form of your name.

ttt Any thoughts appreciated!

My DH has used several different versions of his name when applying for credit over the years. What should he do (if anything) to change how his name appears on CRs? As it stands there are several versions of his name on his CR. * Example * proper name: William Jefferson Clinton nickname: Bill Clinton other names: Bill J. Clinton, William J. Clinton Is it better to use one's FULL proper name? Thanks!

You can consolidate everything together, old and new providing they are all federal loans.. I would highly recommend the Direct Loan Program. Wow! Thank you so much!!

Very new here. (Dumb question alert!) What does it mean to delete a trade line? I thought it was bad to cancel old accounts. This must mean something entirely different than what I think. Thx ~

I'd ask about a "financial hardship" deferment if you get to that point.
-
Really? Even if you have a degree?

Hi all ~ I consolidated most of my loans through Sallie Mae several years ago. When I went on to pursue my teaching credential I was not required to begin payments as I was in "enrolled in school" status. I found myself unable to keep up with the financial demands of going to grad school w/o loans and, despite not wanting to take out more loans, I ended up applying for more. Now I have a large sum that is owed to Sallie Mae and a few small sums that are owed to Wells Fargo. Can I add the WF loans into the larger amount owed to Sallie Mae? (I don't think this is an option, as the rate for SM is better than the rate for the WF loans.) Should I try to consolidate the WF loans through someone other than Sallie Mae? This would leave me with two loan payments--one to SM and a smaller one to XYZ Company. As it stands I believe I have four small loans through WF. Thanks ~

Would you mind explaining what a "bridge loan" is? I got this from Zillow: FHA and the $8000 Tax Credit We are not likely to pursue a home purchase in the next 6 months, so maybe I shouldn't even be asking about this. Do you think this type of credit will be offered in 2010? ~ Thanks loan guys!

Tell me what you really think! Any thoughts on us having gone through FHA before? Will that have little or no impact? Btw, we moved from So Ca to the Central Coast. Much more expensive here, although, like I said, the prices are still falling...

My DH and I had an FHA loan ('96-2001) and would like to go that route again. His scores are much better than mine. (I haven't checked his in quite a while, but that's what I remember.) Will we be looked upon more favorably b/c we went through FHA before? We sold in 2001 and have not been able to buy where we live. Prices have dropped considerably, though, and we're thinking about buying in the next year or so. FHA Loans: Return to 0% Down Also... Is this true?? (I don't think we'd qualify for 0 down b/c we live in CA and the home prices are steep...downpayments are more than 8K...)

I accidentally breezed right by the newbie section the other day and posted in the general discussion area! (this is a repost of that post...sorry!) Hi everyone! I don't know how often I can post here, but I will definitely give this site a whirl. Looks like there a lot of folks here with compelling stories and good advice. As for me... ~ live in CA ~ 41 ~ mom of two (14 and 11 yrs) & wife (we'll celebrate 20 yrs in 9/2009) ~ newly credentialed teacher ~ up to my eyeballs in student loan debt ~ former homeowner (sold in late 2001...we have not been able to buy since) ~ CA is laying off teachers like crazy (very nervous about my timing!!!) ~ work for a great school district as a special education paraeducator (1:1 for students w/ autism) ~ hoping to teach in my own class (K-8) soon (could be a long wait...) ~ I don't have great credit (far from it), but I do have a great family & love my life! That's all for now! Q-gal

Duly noted, texasdad! I'm a long time member of a couple of boards (one political and one fun) so I've seen my share of nutbars. Still, it's good to be prepared!
