Thanks for the awesome advice, I guess my last decision to make is do I poke the sleeping giant (LOL), if I can put this off for a few months it wouldn't be a big deal (DH will hopefully be getting a better job, thus more money) to take care of this debt. It's frustrating since it's only 680.00 (not a big amount of money) but we just can't swing it right now if I woke the giant and they actively pursued me. At the same time, I believe in being proactive and desperately don't want to get sued. I really wish I would have just made better decisions to begin with lol.

It reports as seriously delinquent and open

I did dv when I first heard from them in July 2009, they just never validated it and continue to report and yes I do have a hard copy of my report. I am just wondering since I did dv it and they never validated and yet the continue to report what I can do?
-
bump: I forgot to mention that they have reported this as recently as 01/2010 and have never validated anything, what do I do?

I just went over my credit report and there is one thing that i'm confused about and do not know how to proceed. On my credit report, thereis a listing that says I have an account in collections with Central States Recovery for 680.00, I know what the account is in reference to, however, the account was opened in 08/01/2008, I spoke with them last year (July 2009) asked verbally for things in writing and sent a DV also in July 2009, I never received anything from them. (this was before I knew much of anything about how to take care of these issues). The account is listed as seriously delinquent. What can I do now? I am unemployed (so I don't know if I let sleeping dogs lie) or what my other options are, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

That's great, one last question, how should I word the second letter?
-
No they aren't yet...where do I find 1-2 punch? I'm having a total brainfart lol
-
I sent the dv about 15 days after I received the original letter.

I posted a little over a month ago about a debt regarding Directtv, I sent a request for validation letter and have not received anything back (it's been about 40 days), what do I do now? Thanks

My husband has a Gordon's Jewelers credit card, it has not been used in forever, but it is still open. My question is, should we be using it as a way to help his credit? If so, how much should we be spending (or if that matters at all) and if not will it hurt us to not use it and let it potentially be closed? Any advice would be very helpful.

I second that, Directv does suck, we have found them to be difficult to work with and dishonest, but maybe we just had bad luck.
-
they are calling it a "termination fee" because we moved and decided not to keep directv

Thanks, we will definitely take that under advisement, ugg I have been reading up on this agency and it seems as though they don't have the best reputation and at times can be unethical, so an attorney may be the best way to go (I just hate doing that over a 300 dollar debt lol)
