  2. Record the call, and as soon as you call the guy back, tell him right away you are recording the call. If he objects, or hangs up you know the PFD was all B.S. on his end. If he is willing to continue make him state exactly what he said previously without saying something like "it could/should/might be deleted" if he straight out says it WILL be deleted and considered paid in full(assuming you are paying less than the full amount) and not transferred to anyone for any reason then I would think you would be covered. I'm sure some more experienced people will come around and give you some advise. HTH
  3. What are the ramifications of asking PenFed to put 1/3 of the total credit line on a separate card? Hard pull/review? I don't really want them looking again, I just got another card from a CU and put a 30k auto loan on it. I wanting to keep 2/3 of the line for BT's, and the other third for the 5% bonuses and PIF.
  4. Since January I have been using a site called "the grocery game" it has saved me a ton of money over the year. To be exact, as I have a spread sheet, it has saved me 3748.36 so far and that's just on groceries, cleaning items, and diapers. The best part is they do all the work, I just got through the list and check out what I need and then print it off and use the corresponding coupons. I spend 45min tops on checking what I need and clipping the coupons. On their list they only put things that are at "rock bottom" prices. Hopefully this doesn't violate the TOS by suggesting another site, but I found this site because of the site I recommended.
  5. +1 Unless your local CU is offering a better rate, I would give it a shot. Ok, she might be cutting the 40% close, if not we will try and go with the local CU, it's higher(5.79%) but I doubt they will pull again since it has been less than a week since they last pulled.

    PenFed

Looking to get a loan for a used SUV at $30k, today DW was told by a local CU that her EQ is a 690(had to BT out of Citi jackage). She has a $15k card with PenFed opened up in May of this year. Experienced people with PenFed, do you think the odds are good that she gets approved? She has no lates or badies. Income 72k/yr NADA says vehicle is worth $34k
  7. In your opinion and experience(if you have used both), which product seems to be more accurate in reflecting the "true" history of a car? Thanks in advance for your time!
  8. The DW and I are considering trading in our 2 cars, a 04 Passat and 07 Mazda 6, for a used 09 GMC Acadia to drop our total loan payments and to give us a larger vehicle to accommodate our infants large car seat. The list on this SUV is $33k, it has 31k miles, I've offered $27k. It also comes with the original warranty. When sitting with the finance guy, what "options" should I avoid that are going to be "pushed" onto the DW and I that are going to jack up our payments? I know one of them are going to be an extended warranty and gap insurance, of the two I would consider gap insurance because I have had to use it before in my younger and crazier days. Thanks for your help.
  9. snowball ?? He's referring to a term often used by Dave R...just google it if your wanting more info
  10. Thanks Shaft, I was hoping someone would have a good list compiled. Appreciate your help.
  11. I can not PIF, if I could this would be a non-issue. I have been unemployed for a little over 7 months and that is the only reason this or any card has seen the light of day carrying a balance. Also, before anyone jumps out and says why did you go on vacation if your not working, the vacation was planned over a year ago when I was making 8k a month, which is good for me but not for others. It was a 50 year anniversary for the G-Parents. Ok, I get the vacation was planned might as well go thing (I probalby would have had I been unemployeed) but why make "some pretty large purchases" while you are unemployed? Now you've put yourself in a bind you may not be able to crawl out of. It's one thing to do the vacation (get things off your mind), it's another to make "some pretty large purchases" I understand your reasoning, but the largest purchase was the 8BR cabin in the mountains that ate up 2/3rds of what was spent. We spent in total a hair over 5k on the trip, including gas, food and entertainment.
  12. I have a month to try and move it, so I'm going to sit tight and try and find the best place, if I can not, I'll have her opt out. The UMB affiliate card is intriguing. The is a large thread about it on here...I think it was titled something like "lower your utilization for the cost of 1 INQ"...or something like that. Ok, so I've spent the better part of the day looking for different places to put this. I've check "local" CU's but there really are not too many here where I'm stuck/live in Louisiana. Anyone have suggestions on some national CU's that has a pretty easy "in" that I could check into?
