  1. Attorney advised me to be out of the home the day before the sale. He told us that the new owner will have the right after the contracts etc is done to lock up the home with using the idea of they purchased the home and they are allowed to lock it up to protect their investment. If you are in the home and it has sold I would be getting out asap. By the way, we moved out before the sale the new owner had changed the locks the next morning after the sale as we went by to get an apple tree we wanted to take with us. Once we saw the locks changed we decided to not go onto the property.
  2. We have our home coming up for sheriffs sale at the end of the month. How does that work? Do the possible owners get to come into the home? We are planning on being out 3 days before the sale but wondered how these people bid on properties. We are planning on filing for BK when we get to Florida instead of running back here for the 2 meetings the Bk attorney here told us we had to attend. Should we be worried that people will be coming into our home when we are not here? We are packing right now and about half way done. We went to a new BK attorney who told us we would qualify because of the income but would be pushing filing for BK because we do not have enough expenses and what is left over will go to the creditors. Thanks!
  3. If you already working with the attorney, you can ask him about it. If you want to file the motion to expand time for response, you do it the same way as the other one, but in the court the foreclosure was filed in. The problem is I do not think the BK attorney will do anything because he wont be getting paid until we file. Would the clerk be in a separate office then? Since it is in a different court. Can I ask a stupid question? Why is this in a different court then the cc complaint?
  4. I was able to get a motion to get more time on a credit card complaint and notice the foreclosure paperwork that came a few days ago is not in the same court. I am going to file BK but cannot until around the 1st week in April. Which will be way past the 28 days to answer this complaint. What should I do? Ask this court for more time and do I file in the same clerks office or will there be a different clerks office to do this? Or should I just hand it to my BK attorney and let him find a way to buy more time until we can file bk?
  5. From what I have read about RJM they pull Inq's before they start spending money on going after you for a collection account. They want to check out your info before they attempt to collect. Be ready, something tells me they are going to pop up on your report or send you a dunning letter soon.
  6. Congrats on your first card. I have read horror stories about Cap One but they gave you a start. Use them as a building tool and once you get better cards you can drop them if you want. Any positives will surely help you and if Cap One is the place to start so be it.
  7. That is amazing. Congrats to you for a job well done. I will be starting the repair journey soon and seeing this gives me hope that it can be done.
  8. I cant figure out how to transfer money into my checking and savings either. Was hoping to not have to wait until DD kicks in. my account is sitting at a -5 from opening it and it bothers me. Besides going to your OTHER BANK's checking account billpay and setting up NFCU as a payee using your NFCU account number as the account number for the payee to transfer funds (set it up and try it for $5 to make sure it works), you can also endorse your check and send with a deposit slip (or print out a substitute deposit slip on the NFCU website) and mail to: NFCU Deposits P.O. Box 3100, Merrifield, VA 22119-3100 (on their website). If you are going to do this regularly, order their postage paid envelopes (which include the substitute deposit slip or you can use the one from your order of checks). Also, some have been selected for the online deposit program where you get immediate credit for mail deposits by entering their info online and mailing the checks with special envelopes. This is what I got. The capability to transfer funds from another financial institution to your Navy Federal Checking or Savings account via the Account Access "External Transfers" feature is not available. However, you can initiate a "bank wire" transfer with the other financial institution by providing them Navy Federal's Routing/Transit Number and your Checking or Share Savings account number. For future reference, the Account Access "External Transfers" feature allows you to transfer funds from your Navy Federal Checking account to a checking account at another financial institution. In addition, you can debit your checking account at another financial institution to pay on a Navy Federal Consumer Loan, Lease, Credit Card, Overdraft Line of Credit, Mortgage, Fixed Equity Loan or Home Equity Line of Credit. You can use this feature to make one-time transfers, recurring and single future-dated transfers.
  9. I deposit money using auto bill payment from my Chase account. 24-48hrs and the money is available. I am on the NFCU site and it does not show me how to that. I sent a message to them and they replied they do not allow any transfers of any kind of any other banking institution. I do not see auto bill payment. Sorry sounding so stupid but how does a bill payment work on depositing funds? Tx If you have an outside of Navy checking, you can set up an auto bill pay. Make your Navy checking your payee, just as you would your electric bill, and hit submit. Works for me. Navy will not "pull" money from outside, but they will receive money. Super idea! I will try that one. Thank you.
  10. I do not know how you are doing this because the site and the message stated they do not allow transfers from another financial institutions checking or savings to NFCU checking or savings.

  12. I am trying to prepare to use NFCU later on down the road for some recovery from filing BK. Reading they are BK friendly and it is good that I have a checking and savings with them. But the question is they have no way of depositing funds into my accounts other then direct deposit from your employer, depositing at a branch or doing a direct wire from your local bank. I found they do not accept transfers from my checking to their checking which is a killer for me. I have read a direct deposit is a good thing for later on when I apply for a car loan or cc. The question is how do you guys get money into NFCU without direct depositing your paycheck and how long after discharge should you wait to apply for a car loan? Thank you.
  13. I used Greenpath and they were professional and well managed. Always had good customer service as well.
  14. Congrats! We are in a similar boat. I have a NFCU account and do not know whether to file BK or go with foreclosure and seeing this post makes me think that maybe NFCU will save us in the long run. I noticed you posted credit hell for 7 years but isn't it 10 years for bk? I did you your Bk was in 2009 and you are already getting loans from NFCU? Well, 7 years is the minimum hell... 7-10. I was getting loans again a month after my bankruptcy. I cleaned up my credit starting a week after discharge and within a few days of discharge, I purchased a new car. The interest rate was horrible at like 17.9% but I figured I'd just try to refi it later. I also had a few new credit cards 2-3 months after discharge. About 6 months after my bankruptcy I joined Apple FCU. They refi'd my car to 9.7% but would not give me any credit cards or other loans. So, now at a year and three months out I have 2 NFCU cards at 5k and 3.5k and a car loan. I am pretty much done getting credit for a while now... I am just going to work on bumping inqueries and fixing some remaining problems with my bankruptcied accounts. CU's are definately a Godsend after bankruptcy... however, BK'ing a Credit Union is usually your worst nightmare. @Foe: Thanks! I will do that now. If I do file bk I will be adding Christian Community. Will that hurt me with Navy later? Thank you!
