  1. I'm guessing the annual fee + late charges. yuck! hopefully someone will have constructive advice. i question whether a company with whom you have no relationship will be open to goodwill.
  2. i'm confused. if you cut up the card & did not activate it, how did $220 get charged to it?
  3. who wants a beach house?
  4. someone's going to yell, but... any fla NFCU members want to marry me so i can join? i'm completely serious; love is dead, but NFCU membership is eternal! i'll pay for the dissolution of the then irretrievably broken marriage once i've joined. added bonus: you'd get free residential parking in south beach! alternately, any fla mental health professionals care to work on my pathological coveting of NFCU? I'm in FL and a NFCU member, but sorry, i can't marry you. lol. I banked with them forever (my very first bank accounts), but I don't have credit with them as of yet. I'm planning on applying in August after a few months or credit repair, and will be sure to post the results then. Btw, geaux Wave we could go up to massachusetts & get married!

  6. What sort of checking problems have you had? I've been with Alliant for over a year and have had zero problems. The few times I've called with a question I was met with professional, well trained CSR's. I have read that their mortgage's are problematic but I would not use them for that. One of the main reasons I joined NFCU was for the lack of PMI required on their mortgages. hopefully my snipping all the quotes will work. i had to call once because they didn't credit my direct deposit paycheck on time. it was their error. my HR folks & ADP were all on the line with me. eventually, alliant credited my account as it should have been. it was a really one-in-a-million situation. it wasn't a new account or a new direct deposit. i understand that things can happen and not every rep will have full authority to do things. but the first lady was arguing with me. when i finally got a supervisor who wasn't belligerent, it was fixed within 10 minutes. another time, i used e-deposit for a check. my assistant forgot to put it in the mail. when i noticed, i called the bank. they said they'd already reversed the deposit. i expected that. i asked what i should do with the check. they said that because ONE TIME my deposit wasn't received within the 3-day or 5-day window, they were PERMANENTLY cancelling my ability to e-deposit. nobody would budge. i offered to fedex the check, to scan & email it, to fax it, as well as mailing it in. they kept telling me the revocation was permanent. it would be one thing if i hadn't been pro-active & called them as soon as i noticed it. like i said, mistakes happen, so i wanted to resolve it as soon as possible. as it turns out, a week later, i e-deposited a different check. they lied. i don't like it when a rep does that.
  7. they make up for it by giving 5 digit CLs to post BK people like me. thats why i applied. I used other cards for rewards congrats to OP, id recommend calling a loan officer and asking them exactly what they recommend with regards to your 'recent' BK. The guy i talked to was super nice and i think they will be pretty straight up with you. I was 4 years post discharge when i got approved. i was sent for 'more info' even after i answered the stuff online and wound up sending all my ID via fax as well as a paper Visa app. took 2 pulls but was well worth it for me. They only gave me $1k and I don't have a BK they're not my favourite either. i've had my main checking with them for more than a year. every time i have to contact them, it always takes 2 calls: one ridiculous call that gets nowhere, and then another supervisor call that gets it all straightened out. i was going to refi my car with them. i submitted the application & the next day got an email telling ME to contact them to discuss. uhh... maybe they should contact me. sorry, but i find it super annoying to have someone email me to tell me to call them. then it wasn't really a discussion at all. i'm well aware that i have almost $200,000 of law school debt. i've also paid on-time every month for three years, so it is well-managed debt. anyway, i'm leaving alliant. i desperately want to marry or have someone with a military background move in because i covet NFCU. we always want what we can't have, i guess.
  8. might as well awaken a sleeping thread. champagne. 2 cases a month. my household size is 1. maybe i have a problem.
  9. i probably should have asked before i opened one, but as it is FDIC-insured, no big deal. alliant credit union has just not been the partner i'd hoped it would be, so i decided i'm leaving them. i was checking around to see what kind of interest rates are available and i came across liberty national bank (in oklahoma), which is offering 4.11% APY for accounts less-than $10K if certain "qualifications" are met, and a lower rate for the portion of balances above $10K, along with some interest (i forget the rate) if qualifications are not met. i didn't come up with anything better for a standard checking account. kasasa cash (the checking account) and kasasa saver (savings) are offered through some community banks and credit unions. i'm wondering if anyone else has any experience with kasasa. so far (funding should be tuesday, so my experience is limited), both LNB and kasasa seem good.
  10. i do a little bit. i'm too busy to put in the analysis time i feel i should, so for now i just dabble some. i like oanda.com. with oanda, you get a practice account that never expires, unlike the 30-90 day practice accounts i've seen elsewhere. i do recommend using a practice account to get a feel for things before you risk your own money.
  11. i'm going to try calling during normal business hours & see what results. thanks for the tip; i hadn't factored in the weekend staffing possibility.
  12. so i just called the magic number (9939) and spoke to marco. i asked about combining the two cards i have. marco thought it was the nuttiest thing he'd ever heard of. to make sure it wasn't possible, he put me on hold for about 6 seconds, came back, and told me he'd verified that they used to, but no longer, combine cards. just an FYI FWIW. anyone else encounter this?
  13. I'm looking for a fax number for their office in Bldg 370 at 340 S Cleveland Ave, Westerville, Oh 43081. I have the voice number, but seek a fax number. Googling didn't come up with anything. PS: sorry if this isn't the right forum, but it seems like the most appropriate.
  14. mmmmm....now THAT is a tough one. Seeing that the clerk is the one in charge of the info.........maybe she got a promotion/reassigned/resigned/transfered, etc??? Or maybe have a Legal Aid lawyer or a Paralegal draft up and mail a letter asking for the same info, demanding a direct answer to the question, reminding the clerk that she will be committing perjury by providing false information? OR if you really want to push he envelope, I assume that the court clerk could be sued and made to give a direct answer in court. how would that be perjury? she's taking an oath when responding to correspondence? it isn't perjury. and suing because she doesn't give you a direct answer is foolhardy. what's the cause of action? easy grant of motion to dismiss on that.
  15. if you're unemployed, why do you want to move here (miami)? the job market sucks here. the ocean & the weather (if you're on the beach) are the good things about miami. economic climate isn't on the list. Exactly! Although, the weather is only fabulous through the winter. March-November it's just a huge steam room. Though, if you enjoy sweating, by all mean come! Not bad if you're on the beach, though. I'm 3 blocks from the ocean & the sea breezes make it noticeably more comfortable here in the summer than even in Coral Gables, where I work. I went to the home of a friend/co-worker once this past summer, in Westchester/University Park, and nearly died--almost as bad as New Orleans in the summer. Not quite, though. Sorry for going OT. OP: just think twice if you don't have employment lined up here.
