Hi, Is myfico still the gold standard of "correct" credit scores? I ask because I checked them just before I applied for a mortgage and they said all scores were in the low 700s. But when the mortgage guy pulled them, they were much lower in the mid-600s. This was last October. I was still able to get the mortgage, but I want to get my credit card situation in better shape now and I want to pull my reports, just wanted to see if anyone has any opinions on which service to use? Thanks,

Hi everyone, I have been lurking for years and spent many hours reading here, but nothing has really "clicked" with me. I am going to try to buy a house in a year and I want to get my credit reports in order. I have to attack this TL by TL or else it is too overwhelming. I ordered my paper reports. EX and TU have arrived - still waiting on EQ. Glad I ordered now as I found a new collection on my report to which I had no knowledge, so I am sending the CA this letter: http://creditboards.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=500226&hl=%22i+have+never+been+contacted+by+your+firm+regarding+this+account+%22 That is my only low hanging fruit, or at least I hope its an easy one. I think its with a JDB, but I dont know how to confirm it. It just started reporting this month (4/2013) for a debt from 2008. But I had a couple of general questions that I cannot find the answer to: First, on TU it reports "Estimated month and year this item will be removed". It reads "estimated", but how accurate is it? I have one "estimated" to be removed 6/2013. Its for a paid CapitalOne account. I paid it - it was that or be sued. Its my understanding that its "7 years from the date of first major delinquency". I paid it after chargeoff, and it was paid off Novemeber 2011. I thought because I paid it, the 7 yeaar count down starts November 2011. Im guessing that I am getting my hopes up that it will really be removed 6/2013. Second question... like I said I have been lurking for years, and I have periodically ordered my credit reports. I swear I remember EX reporting DOFD and DOFMD, but on these new reports, I do not see those field on any of my tradelines. Did they stop reporting it? And I supposed to gather the informaiton from the frst place I see 120 days in the time line section? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks for the replies. I have only 11 months of taxes filed for this position. I started in Feb 2011. I found a bank willing to try w/o me having to go on the international payroll. It has something to do with my last job being very similar. I dont understand it, but we will see. Then you have no US tax returns filed. You only have estimated tax payments. Well, I filed US taxes for 2011 which included 11 months of 2011 (Feb - Dec) at this position with the international employer. And I have made 1 estimated tax payment for 2012 (In April).

I am in the USA and my employer is international. My employer does not have US subsidary, or a US payroll, and does not 1099 me. I pay my taxes quarterly. I am shopping for an FHA loan, but banks are telling me "no" due to my employment situation. The last one I spoke to said my situation does not"fit into a bucket, and therefore, I will likely not qualify" My employer is willing to do anything necessary to help me get apporved - I think what they mean by that, is that they will write letters stating that I am a long term employee, or something like that. The problem is that I dont know what to ask them for. One of the banks I spoke to told me to get on their payroll and a get a contract to guarantee my employment. Im sure they would do that for me, but it doesnt make sense to me why I would get on an international payroll and pay taxes in that country and then I would assume I would also be responsible for my US taxes. Does anyone know what I should do? Are there broker/banks who work with situations that "do not fit into the bucket"? The 3 banks I spoke to were all very vague with me; I think its because they have worked with someone in my situation and they do not know what to tell me. It unfortunate because my job is very secure, I do not fear going to work and being laid off like I did when I was on a payroll. I just dont know how to prove it. Is it seriously hopeless?

Do I send the medical DV in this situation?
violet100 replied to violet100's topic in Medical Billing & Medical Collections
You really can't do anything without your credit reports. Once you have your reports, Opt out http://www.whychat.5u.com/OPTOUTINST.HTML Check your reports carefully for any discrepancies, wrong addresses, accounts you are unfamiliar with, different spellings of your name etc. You NEVER NEVER NEVER pay a RED CENT to ANYONE without fully verifying that you owe the $$ and you NEVER NEVER NEVER pay a RED CENT to any scum scam CA under ANY circumstances. IF they are reporting on your credit reports, and IF you believe this is ( or was) your bill at one time, and IF the date of service is less than 4 years ago, then post that data here IN THIS THREAD and you will receive further instructions. Otherwise send each CRA where the account is being reported this: ( after opting out and getting old or incorrect addresses off your reports) http://www.whychat.5u.com/hipaadisp.html Only if the CRAs verify the account should you send the medical DV http://www.whychat.5u.com/ltrcavalhipaa.html Thank you for the reply. I will see if it on my credit reports when they arrive. I honestly do not know if it's mine. As far as I know, I do not have anything in collections. And if it is mine, I do not know what it is regarding. How do I confirm the date of service is less than 4 years ago if I have no idea what it is? I have read through your website and I opted out about 3 years ago, but I was unsuccessful in getting old addresses removed from Experian. I have read on this site that many people have the same problem. I'll try again when the reports arrive. I have been reading and lurking for years, but its all still so confusing that I just don't act on anything. I guess I need to start one trade line at a time so I can learn the ropes and not be so overwhelmed. Thanks again for taking the time to respond. I'll come back once I have my credit reports. -
Hi everyone, Yesterday I received a collection letter from NCO financial from creditor: Pendrick Capital PArtners saying I owe $29.63, but are willing to settle for $19.25. On the back page it says the Former creditor is Emergency Medicine Physicians. Half of me wants to pay it just so I dont ever have to look at it again, but since I have no idea what this is regarding I thought I would take a closer look. I am in no way a credit expert and I do not understand the difference between medical collections and non-medical collections, but I was wondering if the DV letter in this link was appropriate http://www.whychat.5u.com/ltrcavalhipaa.html ??? Or do I just send them a letter saying "what is this regarding?" (probably a really stupid question, but I want to confirm I am doing the right thing). I dont know if it is on my credit reports, but I ordered them today so that I can look. Also, I am assuming that this is medical since the "former creditor" is Emergency Medicine Physicians" But is there some sort of coding I need to look for to confirm? I haven't been to the emergency room since I was 6 with a broken arm - Im pretty sure this isnt mine. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, violet100

I did. They sued immediately and I got a default judgement within 3 months. No collection activity that I was aware of. But this was in 2006 when AIG was in dire straights.

Yesterday I received a really exciting job offer. After I verbally accepted, the HR woman said "Great, we're really excited to have you,but I need to let you know that the offer is contingent on a background, credit, reference check and a drug screen." Well, that stinks. I am not worried about any of those thing EXCEPT the credit check. I havent commited a crime, my references are great, and I dont do drugs, BUT I hit a 2 hard patches in my ife that wrecked my credit (major surgery and a job loss a few years later). Here is a recap of what they could potentially find: EX/EQ BK 7 in 2004 Judgement 2007 2 paid charge offs -- 2007 time frame unpaid capital one charge that I make payments on, but C1 refuses to acknowledge - also 2007 5 collections 3-4 IIB accounts TU BK 7 in 2004 2 pd charge offs - 2007 1 upaid c1 chrge off (same as above) 2 collections for small amounts ($100) One auto loan charged off in w/ BK which is untrue, but I cant get it fixed no matter how hard I try. The problem is that these things are fairly recent. Other than the above, I have 20 years of good credit too. My questions are: 1 Does anyone know what they are looking for in credit check? 2 I spent some time cleaning my TU report and it has a lot less collections (only 2) and I was able to have the IIB accounts removed. It also doesnt report the judgement (though I think they may find it as well if they are going to search court records, etc). In general, its a lot cleaner. I would prefer they look at this report. Should I request they look at this report, or freeze the other two and force them to use TU? I dont really have the time to clean the reports b/c the ar going to start the backgorund check this week. 3. Should I call them on Monday and come clean about my credit? Or let them find it and then hope they give me the opportunity to explain? 4. Any other advice? I'm really kicking myself for not working on this over the past year. Thanks,

Hi all, I just got my TU dispute results. The goods news: I got 3 deletes!! Not the best, but I am taking this journey slow and steady. So, I am moving on the step. My first pass was a "jack attack" letter. I only disputed 9 accounts (yeah, "only"). 3 were deleted; one was "verified, no change" and 5 are "new information below" On the ones where there was new information added, it seems that they did not address my concerns noted in my lettter. For example, I have a car loan that was reporting as IIB and account closed in 4/04, but it wasn't IIB and the account was closed in 3/09. Instead of removing the IIB, they added the one time I was late on the payment. I thought this ws going to be an easy one since I just paid off the car in MArch. Or, they changed something in the tradeline, but not all things: For example, and account that was reporting with a balance and incorrect terms, I disputed both those items and it came back with a zero balance, but the terms are still incorrect. Do I dispute again? or do I send a letter looking for the DF? One last observation, it looks like they changed the "date updated" field name from the old report to "date verified" but the dates are the same. If I just disputed and they just verified shouldn't all of those dates be in the 6/09-7/09 range? Thanks!

Good Luck. I sent them a GW last week. No dice. I got a letter back saying they are reporting correctly, etc. etc. I am going to write the woman back b/c I think she misunderstood what I wanted.

Anyone have any suggestions on the CA who has a veterinarian bill coded as medical? I guess that it would be medical in nature, but its not for a human and it shouldnt be treated any differently, IMO. Do I just dispute normally? tx!

Ok, but if it comes back verified and I know they didnt check it, then what? Send the document that proves I paid it in 6/07? Or do I then go to the OC and ask them to report it correctly?
-
1. I have an account that was updated on 1/09 with a past due balance. However, I have documentation from the OC saying it was paid off 6/07. Should I send the document along with the letter, or just dispute it and hope they can figure out that its wrong? 2. A new collection account hit me a few weeks ago for a veterinarian's office. It is coded as medical. I know there is a special way to handle medical disputes (havent read it yet), but should I just add it to my list to dispute? or do I need it not coded as medical before I try? I just dont want the rep to see that it is medical and should handled differently. (Assuming that the laws around human medical accounts do not apply to animals)
