  1. I agree with George - I would pull the home insurance too. I ran into the same problem a couple of weeks ago with State Farm Mutual. Went online, got an insurance quote, gave them my payment and a week later they tell me because of too many inquiries (4 total in past 2 years) they had to cancel the policy and return my money. The insurance broker assigned to me by State Farm asked me to be patient while she finds an alternative and in the end she got me insurance through State Farm Fire and Trust (did not realize it was 2 different entities). As for states that make it illegal for insurance companies to pull credit reports: Hawaii, California and Massachusetts. (http://www.mainstreet.com/article/moneyinvesting/insurance/auto-insurers-use-shady-practice-set-rates) I've already written my state legislatures about this but I live in NY (THE most dysfunctional state gov't in the nation!) so am not holding my breath. Good luck to you!
  2. My GF just received 2 voice mails from them back to back (unfortunately she deleted both of them). She is also debt free like the OP. Nothing received in mail and this is first contact with them. Lainey - did you wait for a letter to DV and ltd C&D or did you do it without it? -P.
  3. Thanks all for the input! I already called them (actually - after reading the 3rd post on Saturday I called them.) New card is on the way. They even offered to overnight to me (for $15) but I'm in no hurry for it. -P.
  4. Thanks for the input. I'm going to go ahead and have it corrected. I got the IS250awd. It's a 2007 though - but certified pre-owned. Love the car!!!!! -P.
  5. I just purchased a Lexus earlier this week and during the financing process I also applied for a Lexus card. Received the card in the mail today and see that my last name on the card is misspelled. Nothing major really. An "e" where there should have been an "a" and an extra "t" at the end. (My last name consists of 9 letters.) Is this something I should be concerned about or even get corrected? Mind you - on my finance applications (which I just re-checked) my name is spelled correctly. Thanks for any input! P.
  6. Well, getting the auto loan was a problem. That is done through JP Morgan Chase. Not sure who they pulled. I looked at my TU, EX and EQ and the latest inq are from Chase and Lexus. I did speak to my broker and am giving them a chance to find me someone else. What the broker explained to me was that there are 2 divisions of State Farm - State Farm Fire and Trust and State Farm Mutual. State Farm mutual is the picky one who will only extend insurance if you have good credit. Mind you - my EQ is 751 - my TU is 719 and my EX FAKO is 715. My EQ has only 3 inquiries - my TU and EX have 6 each. State Farm quoted me an awesome rate - pretty much half of what Geico or Progressive quoted - and I just knew that was too good to be true. Did not know of this "CCT to bump off inquiries" on my TU. Will definitely be doing a search on this. Thanks for the heads up! -P.
  7. I just purchased a car this week and went online to get auto insurance with State Farm. All went through - made payment and picked up my car yesterday. Today I get a call from the broker telling me that State Farm rejected my application because of too many inquiries on my report and not enough revolving credit. WTF does my credit have to do with getting insurance? Very frustrating!!!! -P.
  8. Try alliant credit union. They pull EQ. -P.
  9. Hey Jaymes - for myself it took a bit over 30 days to get reported so hopefully yours should report soon. Crappycredit - who did you get your car loan with? -P.
  10. Hey Lotun. Congrats on completing rehab! Question - when the loan backdated on your report did it show the original amount owed or what you owe now - after completing rehab? And what were your scores before the jump? -P.
  11. Thanks Marv! Have to say I never noticed that link!!! Wealth of information there! Thanks for taking the time to put that all together! -P.
  12. Thanks MarvBear! That should be a sticky! And..Daddy...ummm....thanks for input - i guess. It was really helpful!
  13. I'm looking to get a Lexus IS250 and will probably go with a used 2007 model (listed at $25K) but my mother's husband has offered to co sign a lease if I wanted to get a 2009 model. With my current credit history (only 3 cards showing with a total credit line of $ 1100.00 and a student loan that is from 1989 and has no lates - another $ 2700 more to go before it's all paid out) I don't think I would be able to qualify for a lease on my own - hence why I am looking to buy a used model. Also, have never had a car loan. Will having him co sign help at all? Keep in mind that he is currently financing his own car (2008 Honda CRV - his 2nd car in past 10 years), is retired, has a nice nest egg from selling their house a couple of years ago and scores are in the high 700's. Thanks for any input. -P.
  14. They also handle student loans. They had my student loans and I completed rehab with them a couple of months ago. -P.
  15. I was offered the same earlier this week. Since I currently have only 2 secured files and a student loan on my reports I took it. Like mpc mentioned it's a nice starting point in developing a relationship with them. -P.
