helping my sister in laws husband straighten out his credit report... a real mess - he has the same name as his father and grandfather (Nathaniel) and his younger brother is named Nate - so lots of mistaken identity on his reports anyway - he had lived in CA about 5 years ago and has 2 CRA reporting his debt on all 3 CB's - now the SOL in CA is 4 years but now he lives in PA which is 7 years - so do I go by the original state where debt happened or the state he now resides plus he has a judgement for child support from CA which he receive no correspondence or calls whatsoever- he's not listed as a father on any documents - and doesnt have the resources to travel to CA to fight it any help would be appreciated

over the last several years I have taken what I learned here and went from a low 600 credit score to a high 800 (currently 870) - getting a great rate on a mortgage without proof of income and over $150,000 in combined credit lines with several credit cards... but being self employed I ignored buying health insurance because for my family size I would have to fork over $1200 a month for a 80% coverage on major medical - so for years I went without health coverage last month I had to have emergency appendectomy (removal of my appendix) - the bills have exceeded $15,000 and I don't have that kind of cash to pay them. I would rather not put it on a free credit card or take out a home equity line of credit - I asked the hospital for a reduced amount due to the fact that the insurance companies don't pay the real rate- but they arn't budging and I'm afraid that everything I worked for the last few years will be for nothing if they end up sending this to collection. I asked the hospital if I could make payments - they said sure but I would have to fill out some form (its like 4 pages long) and they want all kinds of information - and if they deem that I have too much resources available (credit cards, 401k, stocks, bonds, cash) then I would have to pay the full amount... this is Geronimo and never once did they tell me it would be so much - never was I presented with costs involved when in hospital and still wasn't told the amount when I was discharged - heck they said you're OK to leave and that was that. and to pay what they want me to pay per month I would have trouble paying the rest of my bills any suggestions would be helpful

arrow financial re-aged a 10 year old account

sorry for the confusion... the letter they sent says they reported to credit bureaus but I just checked (after I initially posted) and they are not there the last date of activity was 8/96 and the SOL in my state is 7 years so now they are trying to collect a 10 year old debt - which they could not validate 3 years ago but yet they want to try to collect now -
arrow financial re-aged a 10 year old account

it's been off the credit reports for years--- in fact I sent this stupid co a letter three years ago stating as such and it hasn't appeared on credit reports since and I bought a new house three years ago Arrow has since sent the letter to my new address - never contacted in over 3 -1/2 years and has doubled the amount of the outstanding balance since then - and they said they will settle for 25% of the balance - how freakin generous of the them my credit scores are averaging 805 with the big three but if they reinsert this - my credit scores will drop -
Need a good letter to send to Arrow regarding a re-aged account they are now trying to collect and have now reported to the credit bureaus please advise thanks Rob

my friend sign-up out of desperation with a ccc service and the bozo after 4 weeks still hasnt notified her creditors or sent payments... her monthly payments to the ccc are more than she was paying the creditors I going to try to correct this problem and help her with a barrage of letters and hopefully lower or eliminate her payments... her husband was never asked to sign any paper work in regards to the ccc and I wondered what the best recourse is to handle this situation.

I don't know what your estoppel letter says but I know what mine says and I dont agree with you... so we are at an impasse I know what works for me and an estoppel letter worked as my letter of choice after a account was paid but was still listed as PAID COLLECTION now I haven't been on these boards or posted as many times as you - but that doesnt make my advice incorrect I have been doing this for many years and I know what works not only for me but also the people I have helped... so please dont go all high and mighty on me and tell me my advice is wrong if a person has already paid an account why waste time going through the process of revalidating - both parties know it was paid so send the estoppel letter - it gets results.

I might also consider sending a validation request letter - (yes, I know this is an OC) but I have had many OC's mess up on the validation and I was able to use it against them

Is anyone having trouble starting a dispute with experian...
premiere95 replied to Jovick's topic in Credit Forum
I've tried to dispute online aswell - no luck. Went back to writing letters - gets a better response - although slower If you want faster service - try calling them - although your wife would have to call on her own behalf. -
Is this the correct way this should be listed on my CRA?
premiere95 replied to bella_victory's topic in Credit Forum
in most cases it's the same account number but with the first two digits different - this can be contested and one of them should drop off plus being that the settled the account you should be able to get them to either change the listing to paid as agreed or delete the trade line -
recieved compl. validation. Can I C&D with this...

correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the SOL is based on where you lived at the time when the bedt was incurred and of last activity and not where you reside now -

bad advice - I dont think so an estoppel letter will work wonders in clearing up this chaps problems an apology - maybe... but I'm not gonna yes, these boards are here for education and for learning - why should everyone welcome others with a big smile on there faces and warm hug and maybe a pat on the back saying everything will be okay... this is life not some fantasy world - sometimes the hardest lessons learned are the ones when someone gives it to us straight on the guy made a mistake - he listened to a banker and blew a lot of money yet if he would have asked for advice on this board first he would have had the answers and not gotten burned twice - once from the banker and once for paying off the collections ... and not every word that is on this board is rock solid - you ask advice, you make a statement and you get feedback (positive or negative) you have to decide what is right for you and what isn't I'm not out to win friends - I'm out to correct my mistakes and boy have I made a lot and yes, I too am an salamander - but believe me if I had 11k the last thing I would do is pay off my collections without a written commitment from my creditors. -
