  1. I am working on my boyfriend's credit and sent Transunion a verification for one of his accts. He had three positive tradelines with Washington Mutual and one negative. These accts are pretty old, so he didn't remember the negative acct, hence the dispute. The accts' first four numbers are the same but the last eight are completely different, so how could they make this error? I disputed the negative acct's past due balance and the lates, which the positive acct had no balance, paid off and no lates. Now, I made the mistake of not ordering a current report and I believe in the time frame since July this negative item had somehow been deleted. So, being that I tried to contact Washington Mutual at the number listed and it was disconnected I assume that was the result Transunion had, but does that give them legal authority to just delete an acct with a completely different acct number and a positive tradeline from my report? thank you
  2. I also sent a verification to Transunion and they deleted the wrong tradeline...a positive acct!! Is there a timeframe for them to reinsert this positive acct? And since this was an error and they didn't verify the right acct are they required to delete the original acct I sent them to verify? thank you
  3. Thank you for your response DOT, but now I have confused myself some more. Please bare with me.sp? Ok, here goes. Again, this is how it posts with Exp, so hopefully this will make it easier to understand. date opened Nov 2002 date of status march 2004 reported since Nov 2002 Last reported March 2004 credit limit or original amt $1206 acct history: 60 days past due as of feb 2004 30days past due as of Jan 2004 Status: transferred, closed Now here is where I am confused: 1. Is this a negative acct because it was transferred with the $1206 balance or because of the lates? 2. It doesn't state who closed the acct and there is a n/a in the recent balance, so can there be a mistake that this was paid off and closed by my boyfriend? And maybe there is an error on their part that it was even a transferred acct?? 3. If this is accurate where do I determine the date it was transferred, as to get accurate info as to whether it was late before or after the transfer date? 4. There is no date stating when it will drop off my report? Thank you and I hope this isn't too confusing. The OC is with Washington Mutual, so I don't have a contact number. The number is no longer in service, so I am wondering how Experian verified?
  4. Hello, Mary. I was just wondering if a checking acct that is in collection is supposed to be on my credit report? I couldn't find this information on the boards, but I thought checking accts were only supposed to be reported to Chex? If this is the case how do I dispute with the CRA and do you think this will then automatically go to Chex? Thank you
  5. anyone?
  6. I don't know why this posted the way it did. I'm not concerned about the dates, just wanted validation.
  7. I am working on my boyfriend's credit and am stuck with this transferred acct. I sent in a letter to Experian and received a response stating that transferred accts will remain on your credit report for 10 years. This is how the acct is posted: OC date opened date of status type responsibility credit limit or orig amount recent bal status: transferred, closed/past due Nov 02 March 04 installment individual 906 NA 60 days reported since last reported terms high balance acct history: Nov 02 March 04 24 NA 60days as of Feb 04 30 days as of Jan 04 Creditor's statement transferred to another lender" My questions are as follows: 1. shouldn't there be a name of who the acct was transferred to? 2. Now that Exp responded in this manner, what can I dispute?
  8. so....they have been my worst APR card for well over 10 years. When I had a credit score well over 720 they still did not lower my APR. I kept the card for age and credit limit, which they had no problem continually raising, just couldn't lower the APR. Anyway, luckily I go online to check my balance and notice that they lowered my credit limit without any notice. I tried to find my terms and agreements and without luck. I know they can close the account and I am sure lower the limit, but without notice, especially when you are already close to the limit? Now, without knowing they were going to lower the amount, I used the rest of my credit with 33 cents available, and this is without the finance charges I will incur for next month's statement. Is this legal, (for them to not give me notice which resulted in me charging up to the NEW lowered credit limit, unknowingly)? I would have still had $800 available, so I wasn't trying to go over the limit.
  9. Thank you all for the advice... Update..applied for invitation in mail and was accepted for Citi PP $6000. Woohoo Now, what should I do? I am going to BT Chase card to use 0%, need a higher CL though. Want to try for another Citi for BT, but also would like to get a card that will be showing CL. I am kind of confused as to which card to apply for that reports CL and which is easier than others. If I really just need the cards for 0% BT, should I try for another PP or for other card and try to convert? What is the easiest process? I hope I am making sense. Thanks
  10. I was just wondering if it is better to apply for credit card invitations that are specifically sent to you in the mail or for an online credit card offer. I have only been sent an offer for the Citi Premier Pass, which has 0% bt, the pts for purchases and flying, but with higher APR than the Citi Plat Select or Mastercard, which has 0% purchase and bt, lower APR and no late fees if purchase made every month. I would prefer the Plat Select because of the lower APR. I do not do a lot of flying, and I only plan on using the card for the 0% bt. If they have my name already, do I have just as much a chance as qualifying for these other cards online without the special invitation?
  11. Thanks again. U all are great.
  12. Thanx for the advice. I am not too worried about my score right now, I just want to get everything paid down. After adding up all cc accts and money line my total utilization is 51%. I do have a school loan and a car loan also. The car loan is with the credit union, so that is why I was thinking about getting the line of credit. They continually send me loan offers for another car, but I don't need another one. I would prefer a line of credit to consolidate and make one payment to get cc's down. I'm hoping these offers will guarantee me a line of credit since I can qualify for their car loans. As far as Chase goes, I have 4 cards with them. I accidentally missed one payment last Nov by one day and the 0% went bye.bye. That is the one I transferred to Ge money line. The rate jack was on the oldest card that I have not been late on and I have had for a yr and a half. The utilization on that card is 68% and they also lowered credit line on both.
  13. Advice wanted. I have numerous credit card accts and a Ge money line of credit, but utilization is high, so Chase has raised my aprs. I am worried the rest of my credit cards will follow, and I will be left paying 30% on all of them. I transferred one Chase to the Ge money line, unfortunately the apr is 18%. I have $30,000 that I would like to consolidate. Just wondering if it would be better to try for a line of credit through my credit union or Union Bank of California or if I should go for the Citi PP card? I have excellent credit except utilization. Does anyone know who Citi, Union Bank of Cali and San Diego Credit Union pulls in Cali. Just checked credit scores and they are EQ 664 Trans 684 Exp 729 Need to do very soon, so advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
  14. Ok, here is what happened. The month prior to this incident, you were allowed to make an online payment that would post within 2 business days [/b] before the due date without ever accruing a fee. There was no advance notice for the change, so 3 days prior to the due date I go to make the payment and there out of the blue, is the $14.95 fee if you don't make the payment 4 days prior to the due date. At the time, I didn't understand, so I thought they were now charging to make an online payment. When I spoke with the rep, she did not explain that this was a new implemented policy--you now have to make your payment 4 days before the due date. Making payments 4 days prior to the due date is really not a big deal, the big deal is how these credit card companies get away with just implementing changes whenever they want to without notifying their customers in advance. They have my email, they send me my statements, and neither notified me of this new change. Here is the what the new policy states......My payment is due on the 7th, but now I have to make the payment 4 days prior to this date Your online payment must be made on or before 04/11/2006 to avoid a negative credit bureau reporting. To avoid a late fee in addition to avoiding a negative credit bureau reporting, your online payment must be made on or before your due date. If you choose to make an online payment for at least the minimum amount due prior to 04/04/2006, no payment fees will be applied. If you choose to make a payment between 04/04/2006 and 04/11/2006, an Expedited Payment Fee of $14.95 will be applied to process your payment online. If you choose to pay the balance in full, no Expedited Payment Fee will be applied.
  15. I just paid my Circuit City Rewards card on Feb 2. Due date was Feb 5. When I made the payment online through their site, I was notified I would be charged a $14.95 fee. I made the payment anyway, so I wouldn't be late. I finally spoke with a rep yesterday who told me they now charge to make payments online. Of course, I complained and asked them how they could just implement this policy without notifying their customers and the lady told me in my disclosure they can impose charges without notice. I asked for a supervisor and he told me the same thing and could not reverse charge. I have 3 other cards with Chase and I am not too happy right now. Is this legal?
