  1. Thank you Tyra! I've found out the MyFICO scores from TU are based on their 1998 scoring criteria and may be useless because most creditors use CLASSIC '04 {possibly '08} FICO criteria. To make matters worse, I've also found the FICO variants "muddy the waters" whether a person is buying a home or car, let alone searching for a credit/charge card with "reasonable" rates! It appears only Equifax may have the only authentic Fair Issac scores (for consumers) available. Thanks again for your info! Who pulls FICO08 for a credit card or loan??? You don't get EXPERIAN F.I.C.O. I mis-spoke (er, typed) about using Experian fico for credit/charge cards, sorry for any confusion. However, I'm not certain about who (which banks) would pull FICO '08 info for a loan (these days; am sure it could happen). In summary: 1. Suzi Orman's MYFICO is real (real meaning uses scoring criteria most viewed (by future employers, banks, etc); is there a MYFICO discount site per se? 2. Using either MYFICO or Suzi Orman FICO systems will only provide scores from Equifax and Trans Union; Experian scores must be obtained via business (ie: mortgage broker, finance company or credit union). I hope I've correctly summarized the prior 2 points, if not please get me on the right track! Thanks in advance
  2. I feel silly asking but where are discount threads located on CB? Does CB have a link to MyFICO to use these links ( I know DUH); where are the links and how to initiate the discount? Suze Orman has a MyFico connection; are those scores FICO or FAKO? I'm just finishing the final touches of CR triage (per Psych Doc's seminars); and would like to track real FICO Issac Beacon scores. Unfortunately there's so many bs fako floating around and no standardized indexes, criteria for scoring and credit measurement within this industry. CRAs who provide "their" versions of FICO aren't even required to use contemporary measurements (Trans Union using 1990s criteria); nor provide individual FICO scores directly, substituting semantics and questionable criteria (PLUS score from Experian). I know Equifax has genuine FICO; its unfortunate for many jobs; more so now, all planets must align damned near perfectly. Am getting back on my feet after an illness and figuring out and gradually cleaning up my credit. I've noticed the war being waged within the credit management community; has caught the consumer in a number of "no win" situations when it comes to the ability to review and correct their individual credit reports and scores. I'm continuously frustrated there's hardly ever any mention of oversight for producers of FICO, fako. Guess Congress doesn't want to rattle these cages; yet there's mention of a Consumer Protection Agency, I wonder....Naw, too much like right. Are these credit scoring agencies the land-locked BP (British Petroleum) spills in the making? Who is watching the third-party fako resellers with the fanciful mathematical algorithms almost no future employer or loaning institution notices?

  4. I'm in the beginning stages of getting the paper credit reports via snail mail. I was wondering if free reports were equivalent to paid reports? The reason I ask is I haven't seen or read any posts or threads suggesting (free vs paid) credit reports were different; or paid [for] reports had more detailed info than free credit reports. Has anyone obtained both (free and paid) lately? Are there differences?
  5. Am a newbie and wondered is there a definitive way of getting the 3 CRA (Experian, Equifax and Trans Union) reports and the 3 (I'm guessing) real (not FAKO) BEACON/FICO scores? I live in Chicago, IL. Where do I write or call for snail mail delivery of scores and reports? My frustration has been multiplied by ambiguous offers for credit monitoring services I don't want, while attempting to read small print to find out how to get the CRs and FICO scores I do want. HELP!
