  1. I am not a mother, but I have two friends I need gifts for. One just had her first child, one just found out that she is pregnant with her second. For my newly pregnant friend, she doesn't need any of the parenting books, etc. but I just want to get her something to say congratulations. She had a very easy time getting pregnant first time around, and it was really hard this time. Can anyone help me with ideas for gifts that new moms would appreciate?
  2. This is the best thread ever. Way to go, RK! Now that you've had some time to digest your court trip, any more tidbits you want to add to the experience? Hoosgirl, proud member of the RealtorKen fan club
  3. Sorry, I've read the whole thread but I feel I missed something along the way. What happened inbetween finding out that it was her ticket and then ending up in court where it was dismissed? Help please
  4. Sorry, I know this is the mortgage forum, but I thought with all the real estate gurus hanging around here, someone might know of a direction to point me in. We moved out from our previous house - a rental (thank you mortgage forum!)- at the end of June after 2 1/2 years and have not yet received our security deposit back. The agent that we leased the house from (the owners live out of state) said that the owners were probably going to be withholding some money and were supposed to be sending me a letter. I'm a bit steamed because the house was a total ****hole when we moved in and we completed a lengthy move-in report with the agent documenting everything and we feel we returned the house in better condition, minus normal wear and tear after a couple of years. It's been over a month with no money back and no communication from the owners. What can we do?
  5. Thanks to everyone here in the mortgage forum and creditboards, I closed on my house in June! I did an 80/20, with the 20 a home equity line of credit. I've only had fixed rate loans before (and my 80 is a fixed rate), so I'm used to having a set amount being due each month. Now, with the HELOC, I understand that I will be billed only for the interest. I'm trying to figure out if there is a handy calculator for helping me come up with a monthly amount that I am comfortable with so I can actually be paying against the principal. I don't want to pay just what is billed and then end up still owing all of the principal. The total amount I borrowed was $30,210. It is a variable rate interest of 1.875 + the Index Rate (WSJ Western edition "Money Rates" table). The variable Daily Periodic Finance Charge rate on my Line of Credit will be adjusted the day of an Index Rate change as published in the WSJ. The minimum APR on my line of credit will never be less than 4.24%. Every year, I have a $75 annual fee. In return for having no prepayment fee, I understand that the margin has been increased by .25%. Thanks, and let me know if you need any more info!
  6. My DH doesn't really understand either. He just says cards are bad and that means we'll get into debt. It's difficult to explain.
  7. LOL Retrieval Masters C B, Inc. 2269 South Saw Mill River Road, building 3 Elmsford NY 10523 914-345-7136 Sincerely, Joseph Howard Collection supervisor <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ugh. Only an automated answering service, with no way to get a person. Just keeps telling me to mail my payment in the envelope provided. So no cheap thrills for me today!
  8. Why, somehow, am I not surprised?
  9. I am SO sorry that you are having to deal with this. I just hope you are able to sleep at night. Just remember, YOU CAN GET THROUGH THIS. Much sympathy and virtual hugs. p.s. anyone's name and phone number on there? I am evilly tempted to call and harass someone today
  10. Wow, RealtorKen, only one more week until end of discovery, right? I can't wait to see what happens next. One of my most favorite threads EVER. Keep up the good work!
  11. I checked findlaw, and it doesn't seem that Virginia (where we are) is a community property state. Is it possible to have a default judgment vacated at least just for me, that it shouldn't have my name on there just because we are married? I called the courthouse today and to get a copy of the case file, I have to send a letter - can't go by there and get one. So I'll send the letter off tomorrow and see what the case file says about how we were served.
  12. I had my EQ report clean, and then wham - a new judgment. Last fall, my husband was injured on the job working construction. No health insurance, but we thought he would be covered under workman's comp. Apparently it was not, and my husband's brilliant way of dealing with it was to ignore the bills (since he felt he shouldn't have to pay). Fast forward, and the hospital obtained a default judgment for $2400. We did not receive a subpoena, and we know that they had our current address. My husband thinks that he only put my name down as next of kin, not as a responsible party. So, I have a bunch of questions. First of all, how can I be a defendant to the judgment to begin with? Just because we're married, they can do that? Second is how to deal with not being served. Then, has anyone had experience with workman's comp issues and how to get the bill paid that way? Or, I'm willing to pay the hospital ... only as long as I can get the judgment off. Please help!!!!
  13. YIKES! Takes them up to 45 days to send you your copy by mail?
  14. Do u know which CRA they pull and are they BK friendly ? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> They tend to pull TU, I believe. At least they did for me. Don't know about the BK, sorry. But here's the monster thread about it. http://creditboards.com/forums/index.php?s...4&hl=geico+card
  15. Am I an salamander? I got the new GEICO platinum mastercard, but I am not a GEICO customer. I can't see anyway to access my credit card account online other than to go through geico.com, which asks me for my policy number. Help!
