  1. Thanks for the replies, she isnt home for the summer, but i wonder if we can do a three way call? she and her mother have a joint checking account through our local branch, so maybe if i go in there with her... Is there any way she can put me on as a contact to the CC account? Should she just be persistent? As in call back every week ( what is best)and say, i am willing to pay $XXXX.00 to clear this account, and see what happens? Should she send a letter? Should she stop paying anything to them?
  2. Hello, glad to find this board, hopefully will find some help. Young person( step daughter) has accumulated about 4300 in CC debt through bOfA...she works a min wage job at starbucks and goes to school FT. Bottom line, her interest rate is upwards of 27% and cannot even keep up with minimums, there is no way she can pay this debt off completely. She had been speaking to bOfa CS reps and got them to admit they would settle the debt for about 50%( they gave her a number of 2066.00) of at least 5 different calls. The issue was that they said she had to submit that payment prior to them issuing anything that would state that the debt was settled. Right. So finally she gets a rep who tells her this... if you verbally commit to making a limp sum payment on a specific date( up to 30 days later), and set-up the payment to be automatically deducted from an account by supplying a routing number, they will send a letter stating that the agreement has been reached( listing th conditions i assume). That is reasonable ( i would provide the funds to settle the account and she would pay me back at a nominal monthly amount). and she agrees, on the to next step...connecting her to some other person to set this up. After a few minutes this person is claiming that she doesn't "qualify" and that they will only settle for about 85% and that is she hangs up the offer is gone. Is there a way to get BofA to honor what the original 5 reps had been telling her over the last number of phone calls? Should we record any of these calls. They claim to have recorded the calls, how can we use that? Any advice on how to proceed? Would it do any good for me to go in and speak with my BofA branch manager( step daughter is in another state). ( i have a subtaintial amount of money in BofA and will , if it help, close all my accounts). Thank you for your time.
