I use USAA's bill pay service to pay other credit cards, specifically Navy Federal, a local military credit union, and store cards like Amazon, Best Buy, etc. Edit: Never mind, I see you were not talking about regular bank bill pay.

There are several classifications that USAA uses. Even military personnel are divided into categories. Personnel below a specific rank are associate members, and do not get the same benefits as full members. This is a legacy from when USAA was only open to officers. The umbrella company USAA uses different sub- companies to handle the insurance and banking products. So even if you have car insurance with USAA, it may be with a different USAA-insurance company than the one I have.

I stopped using Wachovia after they began to suck. They were my favorite bank at one time, and I am not sure if it were all the mergers or what, but they changed. When I began using USAA as my primary bank, I kept several hundred dollars in a simple checking account with Wachovia. Then enough was enough. Wachovia actually charged me an inactivity fee for basically lending them money interest free. I closed my account the very next day.

I didn't get any notice from USAA yet either. It is listed under the terms and conditions for the USAA Total rewards program though. They have both the new and the old listed, which is why it looks like it is posted twice. Notice they are different. I guess if a person is not happy with the new program, literally convert their points to cash before the transition.

Program Terms/Conditions NOTE: New Terms and Conditions will become effective April 1, 2010. They are displayed immediately below these current Terms and Conditions. The following terms and conditions govern the USAA Total Rewards Program (the “Programâ€): As a USAA Total Rewards card member (“you†or “yourâ€), each USAA Total Rewards credit card account and each deposit account with a Total Rewards debit card on which you are listed on our records as the primary account holder (collectively “your USAA Total Rewards Account(s)â€) is automatically enrolled in the Program. ALG uses its travel agent, Traveler’s Advantage Services (“TASâ€), to book all airline tickets under the Program. We use Explore Cruise Travel (“ECTâ€) to book cruises under the Program. The Program awards USAA Total Rewards points (“Pointsâ€) on each Qualifying Purchase made on your USAA Total Rewards Account(s). Once you have been awarded enough Points, you can use them for Rewards such as discounted airline tickets, merchandise, gift certificates/cards, cash rewards, charitable donations, or as a gift to another member enrolled in the Program, and payment towards cruises. How USAA Total Rewards Points are Awarded You will automatically be awarded one (1) Point for: (a) One (1) dollar in Net Purchases made with your USAA Total Rewards credit card; and ( Two (2) dollars in Net Purchases made with your Total Rewards debit card. “Net Purchases†mean the total Qualifying Purchases made on your USAA Total Rewards Account(s) using a USAA Total Rewards credit or debit card (“Cardâ€) less any returns, credits or adjustments that are not payments. A “Qualifying Purchase†is any Purchase with your USAA Total Rewards credit card (as the term “Purchase†is defined in your USAA Credit Card Agreement) or with your USAA Total Rewards debit card when you select “credit as the payment option and you do not enter your Personal Identification Number or PIN. Points awarded on all of your USAA Total Rewards Accounts will be combined, however Points awarded on USAA Total Rewards Accounts on which you are not the primary account holder cannot be combined. The following transactions are NOT Qualifying Purchases and therefore Points are not awarded on them: Finance Charges, Other Charges, fees, debt protection fees, Cash Advances of any kind (including Balance Transfers, Convenience Checks, Automated Teller Machine (ATM) and Bank teller withdrawals, wire transfers, the purchase of money orders, cashier checks, travelers checks, or other negotiable instruments, foreign currency, wager or lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, payments of loans, or similar cash equivalent transactions), or any transaction in which you enter a Personal Identification Number (PIN) or similar code. Points are not awarded on a Total Reward Account after it is closed. Additionally, all Points will be forfeited and no additional Points will be awarded on any of your Total Rewards Accounts if one or more of them are closed by us, suspended, delinquent, over limit, or otherwise in default as defined in your Credit Card Agreement or Deposit Agreement and Disclosures. Total Rewards Points from credit cards are awarded at the end of each billing cycle on each of your USAA Total Rewards credit card accounts. Points from debit card purchases are awarded the next business day after the charge posts to your checking account. We reserve the right to verify and adjust Points at any time. If you or we close all of your USAA Total Rewards Account(s) or terminate your participation in the Program, all Points will be forfeited even if one or more of your USAA Total Rewards Accounts is later reopened or you re-enroll in the Program. You can see your Point redemptions and balances online at usaa.com. Points are not transferable (except as a Reward under the “Point Gift Giving†section of these Terms and Conditions), and cannot be bought, sold, or used as payment on your Account. Points cannot be transferred between the Program and any other rewards program. Points are not your property and have no cash value until redeemed for Rewards. How to Redeem USAA Total Rewards Points You or any joint account holder on your USAA Total Rewards Account(s) can redeem your Points online at usaa.com anytime or by calling the USAA Rewards Service Center at 1-800-980-8722 between 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m., Eastern Time, every day. All redemptions are final. Points cannot be earned or redeemed, and will be forfeited, unless you have at least one open USAA Total Rewards Account. We reserve the right to refuse to redeem Points if any of your USAA Total Rewards Accounts is closed by us, suspended, delinquent, over limit, or in default, or if your enrollment in the Program is terminated or suspended. Except for Airline Travel Rewards, payment may not be supplemented with Points to redeem Rewards. Determination and payment of any tax liability is your sole responsibility. Your Reward Choices You may redeem Points for the following Rewards, subject to the restrictions and limitations in these Terms and Conditions. A. Airline Travel Rewards 1. You may use Points toward the purchase of an airline ticket on any airline carrier that can be booked by Traveler’s Advantage Services (the “Airline Rewardsâ€). We reserve the right to exclude an airline for safety or quality purposes. We do not guarantee the availability of any flight, airline, or seat. Tickets may be booked online at usaa.com or by calling 1-800-980-8722. Tickets can be First Class, Business, or Coach, with no restrictions on dates, times, or seating. Tickets can be one-way, multi-leg, or round-trip in and out of any airports serviced by the airlines included in the Program. 2. All tickets must be booked on line at usaa.com or through the USAA Rewards Service Center by the primary or secondary account holder. The itinerary will either be mailed to the address on the ALG system or emailed to you. Lost, stolen, or otherwise destroyed tickets are not replaceable. Points are fully redeemed when an airline ticket is issued. Tickets cannot be booked more than ten (10) months in advance. Merchandise and Gift Certificate/Card Rewards 1. We may change the merchandise selection or gift certificates/cards from time to time without notice to you. The manufacturer’s warranty, if any, is the only warranty covering Merchandise Rewards. You may give some or all of your Points to another USAA member enrolled in the Program. Simply indicate the number of Points you want to give to the other member and identify the other member’s last name and USAA member number enrolled in the Program so that we can identify the member to whom you are gifting Points. We cannot give the other member’s information to you. 2. If the other member is not enrolled in this Program, you cannot give the member Points. USAA Savings Bank and USAA Federal Savings Bank (“we,†“our,†or “usâ€) sponsor the Program, and Affinion Loyalty Group (“ALGâ€) administers it for us. ALG uses its travel agent, Traveler’s Advantage Services (“TASâ€), to book all airline tickets under the Program. We use Explore Cruise Travel (“ECTâ€) to book cruises under the Program. The Program awards USAA Rewards points (“Pointsâ€) on each Qualifying Purchase made on your USAA Rewards Account(s). How USAA Rewards Points are Awarded You will automatically be awarded one (1) Point for: (a) One (1) dollar in Net Purchases made with your USAA Rewards credit card; and ( Two (2) dollars in Net Purchases made with your USAA Rewards debit card. “Net Purchases†mean the total Qualifying Purchases made on your USAA Rewards Account(s) using a USAA Rewards credit or debit card (“Cardâ€) less any returns, credits or adjustments that are not payments. Additionally, all Points will be forfeited and no additional Points will be awarded on any of your USAA Rewards Accounts if one or more of them are closed by us, suspended, delinquent, over limit, or otherwise in default as defined in your Credit Card Agreement or Deposit Agreement and Disclosures. Rewards Points from credit cards are awarded at the end of each billing cycle on each of your USAA Rewards credit card accounts. Points from debit card purchases are awarded the next business day after the charge posts to your checking account. We reserve the right to verify and adjust Points at any time. If you or we close all of your USAA Rewards Account(s) or terminate your participation in the Program, all Points will be forfeited even if one or more of your USAA Rewards Accounts is later reopened or you re-enroll in the Program. Points are not transferable (except as a Reward under the “Point Gift Giving†section of these Terms and Conditions), and cannot be bought, sold, or used as payment on your Account. Points cannot be transferred between the Program and any other rewards program. Points are not your property and have no cash value until redeemed for Rewards. How to Redeem USAA Rewards Points You or any joint account holder on your USAA Rewards Account(s) can redeem your Points online at usaa.com anytime or by calling the USAA Rewards Service Center at 1-800-980-8722 between 9 a.m. - 8 p.m., Eastern Time, every day. All redemptions are final. Points cannot be earned or redeemed, and will be forfeited, unless you have at least one open USAA Rewards Account. We reserve the right to refuse to redeem Points if any of your USAA Rewards Accounts is closed by us, suspended, delinquent, over limit, or in default, or if your enrollment in the Program is terminated or suspended. Your Reward Choices You may redeem Points for the following Rewards, subject to the restrictions and limitations in these Terms and Conditions. A. Airline Travel Rewards 1. You may use Points toward the purchase of an airline ticket on any airline carrier that can be booked by Traveler’s Advantage Services (the “Airline Rewardsâ€). We reserve the right to exclude an airline for safety or quality purposes. We do not guarantee the availability of any flight, airline, or seat. All tickets must be booked online at usaa.com or through the USAA Rewards Service Center by the primary or secondary account holder. The itinerary will either be mailed to the address on the ALG system or emailed to you. Lost, stolen, or otherwise destroyed tickets are not replaceable. I see nothing wrong with certain credit cards' ripping people off. If scumbag companies like First Premiere did not exist, there would not be as a many great credit card companies. Credit card rates and benefits are very wide and different significantly, which allows some cards to be great and some to suck. If every card were regulated too much by the federal or state governments, then they would all be mediocre and we would all get screwed. Just think if every checking account had to be the same or every car had to be the same, same situation. For some people, sucky cards are a necessity to get started again. Not sure about First Premiere in particular, but other "bad" cards serve a purpose.

The problem I see is that there may be a correlation. Is there? Many young adults are screwed in their insurance rates even though they have never had tickets or accidents. I can go through the list and there are always exceptions to the norm. So back to teh question. Is there data that links bad credit to: 1. More accidents or 2. More claims.

I have NFCU and USAA. Although USAA is not legally a credit union, it is a savings bank, and is very similar in structure to a credit union if you are eligible for their insurance products. I would join both if I were you and they are wonderful, especially USAA.

I just saw on my USAA page a link for the "USAA Military Group Card." It seems to be an inactive link right now, but the URL points to an "AOG Affinity Group" like the other two point to the World MasterCard and American Express. If you think that is bad, try joining the military, or taking a civilian or government job that needs any type of security clearance. The SF86 will eat you alive.

They will approve you for about 250. You will have basically no credit after fees.

USAA actually breaks customers into more than just military or nonmilitary categories. Even military personnel below a specific enlisted rank are associate members and do not get the full benefits of officers and senior NCO's. Same with military children.
