  1. Ok thanks, I will try that and go from there.
  2. Oh yea, my wife never gave any consent to give the number, the family member gave several contact numbers a few years ago, I think my wife is the only one that hasn't changed her number so they call her.
  3. I live in ga, after talking to my wife she says for the last few weeks they have called a minimum of once a day and they leave a voice mail most of the time. There name is security finance. Im thinking about doing what clydesmom said and nicely call them and ask them to take her number off there contact last and ask if I need to send them a c&d letter. The voicemails are professional and to the point so I think that might work? Is that the right or wrong thing to do?
  4. Thanks guys, that's good stuff!!! I wasn't sure if a c&d letter was propper in this case. It's a local loan company, most of there loans are like $300 and take forever to pay off. They are nice on the phone but we are tired of all the calls.thanks again, I have always got the best info at this forum.
  5. Hi, A family member gave my wife's cell number as a contact number to a local finance co and they are always late on the payments so she keeps getting calls all the time. Nothing bad but so very annoying. We don't ever see the family member or talk to them much so it does the FC no good calling us all the time either. Is there anything I can tell them legally to take my wife's name or number off the contact list? She has signed nothing and have never been in there store. I tried searching but didn't fine anything that helped my situation. We live in Georgia. Thanks
  6. thanks, I will see what I can do with it.
  7. Hey, I need to rebuild but not sure what to do. I am house hunting and need a better score. I haven't used any kind of credit for over 7 years so most of my bad credit is gone except for judgements in public record. Today at myfico I bought my EQ 696 and TU is 655. Thats all I checked. Nothing is showing up bad but in public record. Anyway I was thinking about searching the CB board for best deals on CC's but I wanted a few opinions on what I should apply for. I hope my scores are good enough to get a non-secure card? Am I dreaming about applying for a no fee card with these scores? Is getting a CC the best way to start to build for me? Any helpful info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  8. About the 8 in good standing, about all of them had the last payment over 7 years ago, some are close to 10 years. 2 liens are county, property tax, the other is state DMV, car tax. The clock won't even start counting down till I pay them. I plan on paying them ASAP, I just wanted to know if when I pay them will that activity hurt my score? Anyway of getting judgments off CR if I pay them off?
  9. Im still looking for a house so I have some time. I just want to be ready when I do find what I want. What direction would be the best way to start building a healthy CS? A car loan? CC? After being dormant for 7 years I'm excited to see my score is ok and I just want to do things to raise it up.
  10. Would a $2000 secured CC be a better way to go than say a $300 or $400 unsecured card if I can get one? Would both cards be even better? Do store cards help CS?
  11. Hi, Not new to the board just new to rebuilding/repairing so I have a few questions. I am searching also on this but I have a few specific questions to ask here. This one is about my score: I just checked EQ and it was 677, EX charged me the $7.95 and said sorry no score because no activity in last 24 months. Didn't Check TU, they wanted me to join something for $14.95 a month so no deal there. This is from offers to get score when I checked free CR. I have 5 judgments, 2 of them are paid off CC's and have a few years to be dropped. 2 or for less than $100 each, tax liens on sold property. I want to pay these now. I know that the clock will start ticking when I pay so will that activity change my score? 1 from DMV Its for over $3000. I just learned about this one when I checked CR, 2 baddies, 1st will be off CR next month, next on will be off CR in a few months. 8 accounts in good standing. I have not borrowed any new money in 7 years so these will start dropping off CR soon. I want to buy a house soon so I need to build my credit as much as I can, thats the reason so I can get most accurate info I can. Should I start getting CC's? Can I get a regular CC or do I need to apply for secure CC? If I apply for CC and get turned down will it hurt my CR? What would you do to increase this score if this was your report? Any positive thought would be greatly appreciative. Thanks and waiting your reply
  12. How much do you think they will settle for? I know 3 or 4 old CA will happily settle for 20% Here's some if my background: I live in GA, SOL is 6 years for written here, All CC bills are close 6 1/2 years since date of last payment (04/2004) I have one that I want to pay the rock bottom minimum too, They have charged interest over 4 times the original owed amount. ($50,000) No one else came close to kind of interest so i have thought about just sending them a SOL letter but i want the calls to my job, my neighbors and my relatives to stop. Every time they sell (about every 6 months to a year) the acc to the next JDB it all starts again. Thanks
  13. Does this matter? I did some research on the JDB that sent the letter, turns out they are use every tactic to get info, there is page after page doing a web search about them calling your job, neighbors and family and giving out personal info and what ever it takes to get the money. From what I have seen JDB's like these people use illegal tactics rather than litigation, is this true?
  14. If they probably won't send anything then would it be the best thing to send them a DV? I have gotten a lot of these letters in the past 5 and 1/2 years and didn't send a DV letter and nothing has happen. I know they know its getting close to past SOL so I don't want to rush them. I am just wondering if I send a DV letter will it help them to decide to go on and pursuing this now. I have been laying low for so long and not making a move till I get a summons.
  15. What do they normally send back as DV? On this letter it says they will send verification of the debt or a copy of the judgment and if you request in writhing within 30 days after receiving this notice this office will provide you with the name and address of the OC, if different from the current creditor.
