  1. In April 2006, we filed for ch7 due to my job loss and house in foreclosure. To date, the house is still in our name. We really thought that we would never be able to buy a house. With all the tips from Creditboards, I was able to clean up our credit and rebuild it. One evening I was watching a news program on tv and there was a couple whose story was our story. Her husband was a former Army Reservist and she found they were eligible to go for a VA loan. I did my research and submitted a request for a COE and he qualified too!! Yesterday, Friday, January, 24, 2014 we received an email from our lender, Congratulations!! You have been cleared to close!! We will be closing on our beautiful home Wednesday!! Thank you Creditboards for all your information and support!! To all those out there, keep working and never look down! What you put into it, is what you get out of it.
  2. I live in Ohio and our house has been in foreclosure since 2006, it is just sitting there. Not sure what to do to get it out of our names.
  3. Hi, Foreclosure started on our home in 2006, to date it has not sold. We moved out in 2007. I checked the public records and the status says closed. What does that mean? Thank you!! CJ'smom
  4. They started in July 2006, public records says closed but house is still in our name. It has been up for sheriff's auction 3 times and has not sold. Property taxes are almost 10,000 now. Thanks!!
  5. What dept would I contact. Our original mortgagor was Ameriquest, I think Citifinancial has it now. Thanks!!
  6. Hi there! Our foreclosure started in June 2006, we filed chap 7 and gave up our home in and was discharged in Aug 2007. This house still is in our name. It will not sell due to the neighborhood. Is there anything we can do to get the mortgage company to foreclose on this house. We moved out in Dec 2007 and have been renting with the understanding that we will buy this house. The landlords are being very helpful and patient. In the meantime we have been saving and rebuilding credit. We would love to buy this house now especially since the interest rates are so low. Does anyone have any advice?? 5+ years is enough punishment. Thank you!!
  7. My foreclosure started in July 2006, we filed ch 7 and discharged in 8/07. To this day the mortgage company has only tried to sale our house twice. We have been renting a house that we want to buy. I have pretty much given up all hope of ever being able to buy this house. Our public records say "closed", but the house is still in our name.
  8. Congratulations!! You are very inspiring. I can only hope we can get our house we gave up in chap 7 3 years ago will get out of our name very soon. I think I am just going to have to get a different lawyer. Best wishes in your new home!! You've worked very hard at this.
  9. We are in Ohio. The house has been to the auction block 3 times now. The house next door has been vacant since 2000. I really have no hope of ever buying another house. As far as being able to afford it, my rent payment now is twice the amount my mortgage was. We lived in that house for 19 years. Never had any problems until I lost my job. Thanks for listening'! 10. I just want to say that we fought hard to keep our home. I was unemployed and soon became full time employed. I was on the phone to them everyday. They would not talk to me. When I would get to talk to someone, they would have me fax over a mountain of papers. I would call to verify that they received them, and would get no answer. This all started in the summer of 2006. In April 2007, the night before our house was to sold at auction they finally called, only a few days earlier we got an attorney and started chap 7. We gave up the house and to this day it has never sold at auction (it is in a horrible neighborhood). We are in a house in a great neighborhood and paying twice the amount. We didn't just walk away, I know some people probably have. Our credit was not that bad, we just ran into some trouble when my hours were cut to nothing and then my job was eliminated. We have never been late on our rent and are hoping to buy this house. I just don't know how long our landlords will hold out for us. Since the house still hasn't sold, our 3 years hasn't even began yet. Thanks for reading my story. CJ's Mom.
  11. I'm sorry I don't have their score. Thanks!! CJ's Mom

  14. Hi there, I just wanted to let you know that DH filed ch7 and we gave up our home. I tried so hard to save it. The neighborhood was dangerous and the schools were one of the worst in our state. After the bankruptcy was discharged we, really started looking for a house in a good neighborhood with good schools. Our son was in the 8th grade. Our house was up for auction on 11/30/07 and we found the house of our dreams on the day after Thanksgiving. The owner wanted to rent or sale it. I was open and honest with her and explained everything. She ran a credit report and was ok with it. Turns out, they had to do the same several years earlier. We love this house, can't wait to buy it, but here we are 4/2010 and the old house still hasn't sold. I am currently trying to figure out who to talk to about getting our name of the house. I guess I am just saying that I am glad for finally being able to let go of the old house and start over. Best wishes in whatever decision you make. CJ's Mom
