  1. Well, well, well. It looks like Kellar King and Associates in addition to its many flagrant abuses of the FDCPA, isn;t even licensed to collect in my state-- or for that matter, any state including their own. I would like to send a good solid hard hitting FOAD to them-- anyone have a good recommendation? Can I take these guys to small claims for this, or should I just go directly to the AG, FTC and BBB? Thanks!
  2. Where did you find their address? I have been googling everywhere. 800notes reports both Georgia and NYS, but no street address. They called my elderly mother.
  3. I have been getting repeated calls for months now from these people, and now they are calling every morning at 8am. They have never sent me anything in the mail, and I cannot find any address for them on the net. What I have found seems to indicate that they are scammers. Since I don't know where they are, it is hard to sent them a C&D. Any advice on how to handle these guys? Thanks!
  4. OH JOY! Well never mind. It turns out they made a clerical error and I am not cutoff after all. The post mark is what they look at. Phew. Back to our regularly rescheduled program...
  5. It was postmarked the 28th-- that was when I dropped it at the post office. If it hit my bank on the 3rd, I would think they would have received it maybe on the first-- it usually takes that long for a check to travel. I can't believe they did this to me. :-( Question: If I end up being screwed, is is possible, do peple have any luck, negotiating payments with hospitals? Word from people I know is that Commonwealth Care is very absolute about cutoffs-- if I reinstate my insurance, it would begin on October 1st leaving me without coverage for September. FWIW, when I filled my prescriptions after my surgery on the 4th, I had no trouble with my insurance-- they must have cancelled it after that, but in doing so, canceled it retoractively for all of September.
  6. Okay, MA folk, I need your input an experiences. I am enrolled in MA's Commonwealth Care individual insurance plan. I am currently unemployed, and this was actually cheaper than COBRA. CC has a policy that coverage for a month begins at the 1st of the month and ends on the last calendar day. If you are 60 days in arrears for payment, you get cutoff. I got the cutoff notice in August and sent my payment in on the final week of that month. Unfortunately, they cashed the check on 9/3,, so I was two days over the cutoff date. I did not find out about this until now. On 9/4, I had day surgery for a bunion-- the hospital and pharmacy however did not know about my cutoff and neither did I until today. Officially I was cutoff as of 9/1. It is the weekend. They are closed. I can;t do anything until Monday, but I am hoping that I can get this reinstated and have coverage for September. If I do not, I am sincerely screed because I will have to pay for the surgery out of pocket, which I can't do. What are my options if that happens? What can I do to prevent catastophe here? Are hospitals at all amenable to negotateing payments? Or am I screwed? Help!
  7. FedUpOne, you changed your name, right?
  8. Tee! Good to see ya! Time, heh. You would think being unemployed I would have plenty of couch time with Oprah, but noooooo. I'm taking classes, traveling, and a friend is teaching me horseback riding. I don't know how I ever got anything done when I was working 50 hours a week. Definitely plan to spend more time here. I'm a little sad to see that talking about the stimulus is such a hot topic-- I think a lot of people here could use some practical info on its provisions, me included (e.g., not sure how one applies for the COBRA subsidy). Why can;t we just leave off the politics and simply address what it is, what it provides, and how people who are eligible can make use of its benefits and leave it at that? I guess I am a very practical girl. On the credit front, I'm still chasing away a few stray JDBS, but mostly I am just wating for my scores to recover. That just takes time I guess.
  9. Eh, it's late. :-) And I've been gone a long time. :-) As for things going south, I think it was more like west for me. I was not all that happy at my job and was actually kind of hoping for an excuse to move on. My only worry is that this lag in the economy will drag on longer than even I can hold out. If this were ven a couple of years ago, I would be able to bag a new job pretty much when I want it. We'll see how it all pans out.
  10. Ahhhhh... lol well, I knew it was a joke; I just thought it was a "Yo hag!" kind of joke. Sorry, it has been so long since I have posted here! Ah yes, that aunt: nope, she is still around torturing everyone and I am doing my best to not let it affect me. That's about all one can do really. Emergency fund wise, I have enough sacked away so that if need be I can hold out for a solid year without touching my real long term savings. I planned it that way. I sort of had the feeling that things were not going well for my company so I started to pay off all bills and save up. It's really the severance package though that keeps me from panicking at 3am: I expected nothing at all, and they gave me the same deal they gave the senior people. So as far as I am concerned, this is get out of jail free time. Cheers!
  11. Who you callin' hag? *faux stern look* Hmmm what am I kicking these days other than horse patties in the barn as I contemplate a new career as an equine sports massage therapist/glorified stable girl? Not much, not much...
  12. Yes, I have joined the battalions of the sacked, but all in all I am feeling positive and cheerful. The severance package was much more generous than I ever expected, and I've managed to nab all kinds of new educational opportunities, which could, maybe, lead to a whole different career. The job market blows donuts at the moment, but between severance and my emergency fund, I expect to weather the storm-- and learn how to ride a horse to boot. :-) So how are you all?
  13. Could someone explain the scorecard/bucket thing? Not sure I get that. This is a new one on me. :-) This was a secured loan from my Credit Union.
  14. Get that 75% down and your score will shoot up. It's 75% available-- sorry being backwards here, than means i am only using 25% right now. I hope to pay that down soon!
