Will a new credit card be forwarded by the post office?
postal24060 replied to prosper711's topic in Credit Forum
Return service requested means it should not be forwarded. (it is supposed to be returned but sometimes makes it through forwarding without the endorsement being read) Address service requested means that it will be forwarded and your new address will be sent to the sender. I have seen credit cards come both ways or with no endorsement at all so it depends on how it is mailed. postal24060 -

As a current post office employee I can tell you that this is not an accurate statement. All carriers (rural route and city route) are covered by thier respective union and would not be allowed to pay for their own gas. Rural route carriers that use there own vehicle are responsible for the fuel and maintenance of the vehicle but they are paid a nice vehicle allowance that is higher than the IRS standard mileage rate. Most carriers in my office make enough from the mileage rate to pay for the vehicle as well as fuel and maintenance. As a wife of a postal worker, I can tell you what I said is true. My cousin's sister is a rural carrier and she has said that she has had to pay for the gas out of her own pocket--when the rates were at $3.50 a gal. She was NOT coming out ahead by any means. It was NOT covered. She was losing money. That's not covered in the contract for $3.50 a gallon or $4 a gallon like it was in some places. There were newsletters going out that said that when gas was over $4 a gallon, the post office was LOSING ONE MILLION DOLLARS A DAY. ETA: not being argumentative, I would NEVER say something if I hadn't heard it from the horse's mouth on this. They get a stipend for their own vehicle. When you have a 60 mile route, with stops and starts and all of that--that money goes QUICK. She was running out of money on Wed for the gas. I think she was getting $50 a week. I could be wrong about the amount but she did say she was running out on Wed of the gas allowance. The current rate is almost 62 cents per mile so if gas is $4.00 a gallon and you get better than 6.5 miles to a gallon you will make money. unless she was delivering mail in a Hummer she should at least break even. Now that gas has become a little cheaper it should be even better. I don't wish to argue either I don't doubt what your cousin's sister told you but maybe she was exaggerating a bit. A 60 mile route would net the carrier $36.90 per day for fuel (60 X 61.5 cents per mile).

Since when? I've been able to print proof of signatures from FedEx before on numerous occasions... Exactly you can print it from your computer which is not an actual signature in court i don't know if a print out would hold up but when you have a singed document like a return receipt not much can be argued about that.
-
You can not get a return receipt with fedex meaning you can't hold some ones signature in your hand. With fedex you can see who signed for the item online but that's no good if you need it as evidence in court.
-
fedex has a tracking number but if you need proof of receipt ( different from tracking that shows delivered) You need a return receipt that has some ones actual signature on it.
-
Use Express Mail at the post office you get overnight delivery and can still add a return receipt so you can prove they got it
