  1. Here's just one example of my point...didn't pay a penny and no bad credit. Wow, we should all celebrate. First, I would just like to thank everybody for all the help they gave me. I've been lurking around for about 2 yrs now reading and reading on how to improve my credit. Of course I got myself into this mess and really can't blame anybody, but luckily there are laws that protect us. So here's what I started with: These were all negative, outstanding, late, collections, whatever you want to call them. TSU EXP EQ Amer Honda Finance$- $- $- Cap one BK $1,344 $1,344 $1,344 Credigy Rec-disco $4,174 $4,174 $4,174 Credigy Rec-Wells $1,673 $1,673 $1,673 Disc Fin $- $- $- Rec. mgmt corp $- $- $- Assest accep-1st usa $3,417 Dillards $627 Navy $- $- Van Ru Credit $139 JNR-Delta $365 Now each and everyone of them is gone. Most of these were disputes online, some were DV's, but the point is there all gone and I didn't pay 1 SINGLE PENNY. It took about 1.5 years to get everything cleared up, but it was worth. Just wanted to tell everybody thanks for the info, I may not have posted, but I can read.
  2. I don't know, you have the ability to pay. You defaulted. How about pay and accept the consequences of defaulting in the first place? Sorry, I'm not trying to be a jerk, but anytime anyone on here asks about taking responsibility they get called a troll, just like I know I will. I understand if the CA does something slimy like taking on fees, harassing you, etc. But, you've said its your debt and that you defaulted. You have the ability to pay now. Why not just pay it and be done. No one likes a bad credit report, but if we could all just erase our mistakes easily what would be the point of having them? It is meant to warn other creditors that you are at risk for defaulting. Maybe you will, maybe you won't. Is it fair? Maybe, maybe not.
  3. I agree with almost all of this...but as with other posts that blasted the OP, you say you don't think anyone wants to get out of paying a legitimate debt. Now, I'm all for fighting these awful CAs and their fees and whatnot or to dispute debts that are not legitimate. However, I read post after post literally asking for advice on how to get rid of a "baddie" on their report when it was a legitimate debt. Not disputing they owed it, not asking how to fulfill their obligation but asking do I wait it out, can I offer much less than I owe for a PFD, etc. So, at the very least, the OP asked a legitimate question and got immediately blasted as a troll for going against the grain here. There does seem to be a lot of celebrating on here for essentially getting out of one's obligations. That's not to say there aren't legitimate fights on here and that celebrating a victory isn't deserved in many cases. But to just blast the OP as if everyone on here is a victim is not realistic.
  4. I just gave it a whirl on Excel 2003 and windows XP and it worked fine. I had no errors and all three buttons did what I expected them to. Looks good!
  5. I am pretty sure Kaplan is legit, however my first choice for doing an online program would be finding a brick and mortar place that offers online learning. I have found that places like Kaplan and University of Phoenix can be even pricier than some traditional universities. With that said, I would think you'd be just fine getting your degree from Kaplan. Generally speaking, once in the workforce, it really doesn't matter where you got the degree any more.
  6. If you had to pay, you will be receiving a paper check for your tax stimulus rebate. ONLY those who received a refund through direct deposit will receive their rebate that same way.
  7. Hey, I go to Franklin as well. I moved from Columbus to TX last summer so I am taking all my classes online. Thankfully my employer has a prepaid tuition agreement with them so I pay nothing but my books upfront. I love Franklin and their tuition is much less than UOP.
  8. I read somewhere that if you had to pay in instead of getting a refund, you will be getting a paper check.
  9. Well, I'd be a little skeptical that so many of your classmates would really cut the mustard. I'm not talking about doing a little Excel work in the classroom. But by all means I hope you all show up next time I'm hiring and we'll see who makes it through our fearsome interview process Exactly how fearsome? Are you in the DFW area by chance?
