  3. I agree with EarnIt and VintageSpeed...the worst they can do at this point is say no. At least you are attempting to deal with it. From my experience, Beneficial told me that all of my negotiations/letters/calls etc (even prior to judgement) had to go through the lawfirm they placed the debt with. So make sure you are sending your letters to the correct place.
  4. +1 creditchecktotal I get it for 9.95 for six months, I just called and told them I was going to cancel cuz it was too expensive. It allows daily pulls, but only after the initial 7 day trial period.
  5. I wouldn't use a canned sample letter. Just write a letter to the CRA's stating the accounts are obsolete and ask them to remove them.
  6. Speaking from personal experience with Beneficial, on a smaller loan ($9000)...work with them if you can, because they will sue. I have a judgement from them on my CR's because of them. I know I was offered several settlement arrangements and I'm sure they would have worked with me had I asked. Of course this was all in my pre-cb days, if only I had found these boards six months earlier than I did. My account was charged off but Bene still owns it, they outsourced collections to a local lawfirm, I was on a repayment plan with them and they still got a judgement. I'm currently working to pay the debt off, I have to pay the collection agency at this point, Beneficial will not accept direct payments.
  7. Thanks. I don't shop there much, but now I just might start shopping there a little more often. I think I have read that the store card will grow with you if you treat it right.
  8. So I was doing a little online shopping this weekend and was getting ready to key in my cc info to Victoria's Secret site and low and behold I get a message that I have been pre-approved for an Angel store card. It's not much $250, but it's a good start. To beat it all, this was based off a pull from EXP, my worst CR by far. I have been working on repairing my reports for a year, with time off here and there, CB pays off.
  9. I would go for the Bank of America secured. I got one for my hubby last year and it has really helped his scores. It does report as a secured card but that hasn't mattered to any of his other creditors or his scores. When I applied for him I applied for a regular unsecured card, his scores were in the low 600's, they countered with a 99/500 secured card. After adding this card to his profile and getting rid of an old baddie I got his scores up over 700. We have been really happy with the BOA card, now are just waiting for it to unsecure.
  10. If you really want clean reports you should take the time to do it right, with "all the dvs and stuff" How do you know that you really owe what these people are saying you owe? Please read the newbie section and PsychDoc's seminars, they are well worth the time.
  11. It has done nothing for me except allow me to pull new CR's daily. It is helpful for montiring. Just remember to call in at the end of your free trial to cancel, stating it is too expensive, they should drop the price for 6 months.
  12. For monitoring purposes you can use creditchecktotal dot com. During the free trial period you will not be able to pull new reports for free, but after the first 7 days you will be able to pull them.
  13. Wait for the CA's to update your reports, don't send those letters to the CRA's. That essentially comfirms for them the debts are yours and they may never remove. If after 30-60 days the accounts are still on your reports you can dispute them as invalid with the CRA's they should be deleted, if not then go back to the CA's with their violations.
  14. You should be okay giving Macy's your bank info. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER give your info to a collection agency. Sounds like you worked out a good plan for you, I wouldn't worry too much about the extra interest you will pay by taking a longet term for repayment. The important thing is to get back on track, just make sure that you don't miss any payments on this plan or they may cancel the plan and add back in everything they removed for you, putting you in an even worse situation. You did good, congratulations on taking the steps to fix this.
