I know this thread is pretty old but I'm wondering if there has been any internal "update" Settle could shed light on regarding this policy changing? I just got my Macy's card a few months back and finally got around to calling them about what my CL is and asking them if they could please report it so my utilization % goes down. The girl gave me the whole "we don't do Credit Limits anymore" schpiel. She seemed to think it was pretty stupid too. I haven't been to CreditBoards in years but immediately logged back on to search for "Macy's" to see what the heck was up with this. The girl on the phone actually said to me that they might be changing it soon. Seems like it's pretty likely if a customer service rep is telling a random caller about the possibility without me even asking. Any insight, Settle? I'll probably still use the card for the discounts, as I PIF every month, but I really would like credit limit reported to decrease my overall utilization % (or is that still how it works...like I said I haven't been on in years).

Hi everyone, I used this board as a great resource a while back in understanding my credit report and recently was in an argument with someone and figured you guys could shed some light on it. Consider the following: a person must, at all times, own a car. They are not upside down on their auto loan. This is a car that is depreciating at a normal, constant rate. Would it make more sense to: A) sell the car (earlier in the loan when there is still higher overall balance due) to get a better resale value and buy a newer car (as long as that newer car is around the same payment, term, APR, etc), or B ) continue paying off their loan until they owe $0 on the car and then sell the car years later (making more profit)? So (in a nutshell) in your opinions is it better to have a newer car and less profit? or keep an older car that's harder to sell which you owe nothing on and get more profit years later?

I agree that while online surveys could probably never even be considered as a significant source of income for anyone unless they were to spend more time than it's worth doing them, I log onto Opinion Outpost when i'm slow at work and just cashed a check for $60.00 from them. It's a nice little bonus check to get every few months. I've also cashed $20.00 checks from surveyspot.com and cashcrate.com (though I don't use that anymore as I only like to do surveys, not fill out offers and that's mostly what they offer). I'm also waiting for a shower radio (Radio in the shower!? Amazing!) from lightspeedpanel.com and I almost have enough points to get the Office season one dvd from zoompanel.com (though I'm not going to vouch for either of these as I haven't received the rewards yet, but I'm pretty confident I will). I would suggest: OpinionOutpost.com- Potential to get the most cash with the least time because surveys are scarce but pay about $4 a pop. I've received a check from them. www.SurveySpot.com- Same as above, but paid surveys are even more scarce and only pay $2-3 each. I've cashed a check from them. lightspeedpanel.com- this doesn't give cash, but you can cash in points for giftcards, including paypal, so it's almost just as good. This is also where I ordered my shower radio a few days ago which I am inappropriately excited about. Haven't received it yet, though. zoompanel.com- This one doesn't offer cash or gift cards but has LOTS of prizes, including TONs of DVDs. This is the only one that I'm a teeny bit worried about but I'm hoping to get enough points for a dvd season of The Office or Sex and the City, but we'll see. I'll let you know if it ends up being a scam. Also, i would strongly recommend dedicating a yahoo email account specifically to these sites because you will get tons of spam, though I give them all my real home address and phone number and haven't had any problems with that.

Thanks so much for the help! Is there any specific lender you would recommend? I've had trouble finding financing through the dealer and don't know where to go. Would it improve my chances to have my mother co-sign, or am I fine without it? Thank you again for taking time for advice!

He filled it out using my name, I just added the post-script when I realized my signature showed up. His rent is $375 per month.

Awww! So I'm assuming that this: http://www.bcsalliance.com/debt_arizona.html (see numero uno of 32-1004A, second from top) means that Attorney's don't need to be licensed in AZ? Every time I think I'm getting good news, I get shot down!

I'm in the same boat. I recently found out that one of my more annoying ca's is not licensed in my state. I was really happy when I found it out, i then realized that I didn't really know why I was so happy because I have no idea what to do with this information. I'm hesitant to C&D them because it's a medical debt, but if they aren't licensed they can't sue can they?

Who is Search America and why are they pulling a soft?

Do soft pulls matter? I thought they were actually kind of good. -
Thanks! So, DOES the fact that this CA is not licensed to collect in my state mean that I am won't be sued if I dispute it to the CA? I ask because this is an unpaid hospital debt, which from what I understand has no SOL. So I can be sued on it at any time, right? It is valid, I did go to the hospital to get stitches in my finger when I cut myself at the restaurant that I worked for. However, it should have been covered by workman's comp obviously and I didn't notice it was being reported as unpaid in collections until 3 years after it happened (which is, conveniently, AFTER the SOL that I can claim workman's comp. Wonderful.). I would like to get it paid, either by my old employer or by myself if I, say, win the lottery. But I don't think either of those is going to happen. Should I still attempt to remove it, or just let it be and wait for it to fall off in three years.

After researching them a bit more I feel like they are probably collecting on that old t-mobile bill. They just pulled my credit report using "Plaza Associates' but it is the same guy. The thing is, the t-mobile account is not listed on my credit report. I stopped paying it because I accidentally ran over my phone with my car and decided to get a cingular phone instead, so I never paid my last two bills (my contract was almost up)...I think that was back in October of 2006...So it's about 2 years old and I haven't heard anything about it until now. Isn't there a shorter SOL for phone bills? Edit: I looked at my first post and realized just now that it was wrong. I didn't cancel my T-Mobile, i just stopped paying. I must have been thinking about my sprint bill that I canceled and never paid the early termination fee on. That was collected by NCO and is a whole different topic entirely. Yeah, I'm bad with cell phones.

I have an old medical debt on my credit report that should have been paid for by workman's comp. I noticed it on my credit report about three years after it happened. It's about four years old right now, and I'm trying to get up the nerve to send my old job a letter telling them they need to pay it, but it's been so long I don't think I have any way to legally make them pay. I don't feel like I should have to pay because my old job sucked, so it's still unpaid. Anyway, the CA collecting on it is the Law Office of Harold M. Scherr. They call about 3 times a week and I just never answer. I'm hesitant to send them a cease and desist letter because of how easy I hear it is to get sued over medical debts, which I definitely don't want to happen. However, the company reporting the debt on my credit report is Healthcare Funding Solutions. Neither Harold M. Scherr or Healthcare Funding Solutions are listed as licensed to collect in the state of Arizona, which is where I live. The list is here: http://azdfi.gov/Lists/CA_List.HTML#bmA and unless I'm missing something, they don't appear to be on there. What I'm wondering is: if they are not licensed to collect in my state, can I send them a cease and desist letter without worrying about getting sued? Is there any way to leverage their non-licensed status to get them, and the debt, off of my report entirely? For instance, If I mention the fact that the reporting agency is not licensed to collect in my state to the bureaus, will that be good enough reason to remove the tradeline? I also feel like I'm missing something with their license. They are definitely listed on my credit report as "healthcare funding solutions" and I definitely don't see that name on the list of licensed collection agencies in arizona. However, it's a hospital debt. Why would an arizona hospital send it's unpaid debts to a collection agency that isn't licensed to collect in arizona? I feel like I'm missing something. Any help or insight would be appreciated.

It was a voicemail. My parents still have the old number I had when I was growing up so they probably have it listed as my information somewhere. Plus, my moms outgoing voicemail message is just like "You've reached 123-456-7890, please leave a message". So I guess they thought it was me. Still illegal though, right?
