  1. Thanks everyone
  2. Ok, that's what I was wondering...because I have to be late a 2nd time.
  3. I'll be paying the amount due before the 24th, but I'll have to pay a couple weeks late next month too. From what this letter says, does that mean they won't send another notice if I'm late next month, they'll just repo it?
  4. My car payment was due on March 24th and I couldn't pay it on time. I called them and they wouldn't work with me. The plan was to make the payment on the 10th and next months payment would have to be a little late too. I got this letter though. Does this mean that even if I pay it a couple weeks late they'll repo it?
  5. I already had TU quarterly monitoring at $3 something per month, and EQ is a free trial from SW. I was looking into consolidation loans.
  6. The car I got was named one of "The Worst for the Money" too *sigh*. I just REALLY screwed up.
  7. I know they are, but I NEED some kind of car and can't just go buy one with cash. Is it possible to get financing with a repo? Here they can turn off the gas if it gets above 32 degrees. I've been to social services and they say I make too much
  8. So would my best bet be to let the car go to repo and start working on the credit cards after I get my utilities caught up? If I do that, I would probably have to go to one of those Rent to Own car places and the payments would probably be lower, I just don't know how much.
  9. I've been calling and emailing car dealers and the bank who my car payment is with. It seems that my only options are repo or BK to get rid of the car. I can't sell it because I don't have the title in my name. Most of my cards are maxed out because I had stocked up on food and everything before I went out of town for Christmas knowing that I wasn't going to be paid again for 2 weeks. I had also bought some Christmas gifts with the credit cards. I had $50 to name when I was told my house burned down and everything was gone. My son and I needed clothes and food, we were living out of hotels (charged those too)....then all of my utilities from the house that burned down were due at once when I moved into this place and I charged that too because I didn't have any money. We had no blankets, beds, plates, pots and pans, nothing. I ordered things for the new place thinking...I can handle $20/month...well that $20 multiplied. I wasn't thinking straight, and I really feel like an salamander now. My son's dad is supposed to be having his wages garnished but he's probably not working anymore. I'm not taking it the wrong way, I'm just completely stressed out, and the only way I'll have heat next month is if I don't pay the credit cards or the car payment....or file BK to put a stop to the disconnection. I'm way in the hole this month so anything extra I get (I'm trying to sell things) is going to have to go toward buying food and paying for childcare for spring break. I haven't made up my mind yet, I would prefer not to file but right now that's looking like the best thing to do. My friend is a retired BK attorney and said I could file myself for under $300.
  10. I don't qualify for any assistance with utilities, I've tried that before. All of my family lives out of state and I don't know anyone who would let me borrow a car. Even if I let the car go to repo, the minimum payments on my credit cards cost as much as the costs to own the car
  11. I was denied for state assistance.
  12. Thanks everyone. I looked into selling the car and I'm upside down. I looked into trading it down for a cheaper car and all the dealers I talked to said I'd need to come up with about $2,000 down. I looked at my income and expenses for this month and it's not looking good: Net Pay 1732 Rent 650 Car 424 Car Insurance 137 Renters Insurance 26 Gas 396 (I couldn't pay it last month and have a disconnect notice now) Electric 32 Gas for car 120 Tuition 87 Childcare 100 Home Phone/Internet 80 I'm already $320 in the hole and that doesn't include food, my cell phone bill, or credit cards. My total debt including student loans, credit cards, collections/medical bills, and the car is $78,583. I think I need to do a BK and give up the car.
  13. I got a new car not knowing that everything I had would go up in flames a couple weeks later and I would be living out of hotels.
  14. They said it was because I was insured with them for less than a year and had a claim so I no longer "qualify" for State Farm Insurance. I moved into that house in April and the fire happened in December. The landlords were working on the heat when I was out of town and had some really old space heaters on which caused the fire. I found a different insurance company yesterday for $26/month. If I cut back on school I would have to start paying back $360/month in student loans. Tuition at the community college is $87/month.
  15. I got cancelled after the fire because I had a claim. I was paying $10/month for insurance, now the cheapest quote I can get is $85/month because of the claim. I had State Farm (the same company that wouldn't give me car insurance). They only send the depreciation amount, then when you replace the item brand new and send them a recieipt, they send you the rest of the money. I haven't been able to replace everything yet. I'm really looking in to getting rid of the car. Can I sell it even though I couldn't pay the taxes on it? I had it all in my budget to pay the $1200 in taxes and get it titled and the fire just messed me all up. Can I voluntarily surrender it to the lender even though I'm not late? I'm paying about $35/month in those credit protection plans and $120+ on finance charges. There's 2 cards with those monthly annual fees too.
