I liked this cd starter. I opened one last year and it's maturing in a few months. This cd starter is a little different than the one I have because they require a bit more. For those NFCU members here is the fine line print if you chose to open this cd starter: 5,000 maximum balance. Only one New Savers Special Certificate per member is allowed. To be eligible for this special offering, members cannot currently have a Share Certificate product at Navy Federal. Members age 18 or older must have a minimum Direct Deposit (no allotment) of $300 to a Navy Federal checking account prior to purchase and establish a monthly automatic deposit of at least $10 to their New Savers Special Certificate.

Perfect....thank you Big Ed

ps: i called them just now and they said they do a soft inquiry. For Money Market and Savings they also require a Beacon score of at least 620. but i would still like for those who have experience/knowledge just to confirm I would really appreciate it.

Hello everyone! I've been browsing and reading different topics for the online savings. Well after doing my comparisons I have been thinking about going with GMAC Bank and opening their Savings (2.50%) and CD (2.40% 9-mth $500). My question is for those who have opened an account with GMAC Bank. Do they pull a hard inquiry when opening an account with them? Your feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Sharon

Well for me I decided for it to protect my personal assets etc. Especially in the industry that I'm in.

Don't be too sad. I just received my GLI on Monday and they only gave me $100 I then asked to be transferred to authorization dept supervisor and the same rep came back and said that the supervisor only approved $100. Never paid late, if my payment amount is $5.00 I usually pay $20. I use the card as much as a can but with a low limit I don't have much to purchase. So anyway, I asked why do I keep getting $100 GLI when I use the card alot and she stated that because I opened my account online that was all they approve. She then told me that in 90 days go to the store with my id and ask for my next GLI in person. SO I can only say your $200 GLI is better than the $100 they keep giving me every 90 days

I agree with everybody else on this one. I don't have any affiliation with B of A but from the info that you have shared....it will be reported on your personal credit AND will sue you

PW16: Marcus has EXCELLENT blog topics that I think will be helpful to you. I remember not very long ago he written about having a credit plan and another blog called My Credit Card Portfolio: The Breakdown (or something like that) If you have time and BEFORE applying for a new card, why not visit his blog and read through it because it has a wealth of info. Good luck

WOW....now that's what I call "customer service"

Unfortunately this happen often and can lead to late fees and CLD's. All you can really do is make sure the associate knows which side you want the payment to go to. At that points its really in their hands. You can always call into the customer service and they can transfer the payment from one account to another. This is a hassle for the customer but really the only option once the payment has been made. You are right about this. This scenerio is happening to my mother. I had been telling her about this forum and about Macy's GLI. So she decided to try it and it worked because she never knew she could do it. Then she started getting frustrated because each month they keep posting the credit/payment to her Macy's store card and not the Visa. So each month she call and tell them they keep screwing up and wants the late removed. So I was asking on her behalf just to see if there was anything different she can do. I'll tell her to keep checking each month and have them fix it. Thanks This should not be a problem since you can go online and choose which acct you wish to pay, they have different acct numbers. I've never had a problem doing it this way. Curious, She pays in person at the retail store with her Visa bill but it still goes to her Macy's store account. My mom is 'old school' and don't fool around with the internet too much especially with her using dial up...it takes forever and 10 yrs to get stuff pulled up. I'm an associate at Macy's. When customers make a payment, ALL of the accounts they have pop up on the register screen, and it's up to the associate to select the right one to credit. Sounds like your mother is getting associates that don't know what they're doing, or that are making mistakes. Unfortunately, those mistakes are REALLY easy to make. Remind your mom to check the receipt she receives after making her payment. It will show what account the payment was credited to. These transactions CAN be voided, and it can be corrected, so if she sees an error (payment posted to revolving rather than Visa), she needs to tell the associate prior to leaving the register. It's a lot easier to fix there than by calling credit. Great! I'll be sure to tell her. Thanks for posting that info
