Dusting this off... To those that have done this with NFCU: 1k to Secured Personal Loan to deposit for Secured Credit card How much did your score increase? I've been pondering this.
-
Thank you for this. I resisted being transferred to their collection unit...which they said is separate, but part of Sallie Mae (oxymoron) Going to fire off the CMRR and wait for the CA to send notice.

Please keep posting, this is inspirational. Hoping to pull scores this weekend and sit down. Maybe a little adult beverage to soothe the nerves as I read through our reports. This is awesome, way to go vic19!!!

Congrats...!! do you know if any of those collections are judgements??? i was also in the same position last March when i decided to fix mine...actually i had 36 baddies across the boards... now im done to THREE...so yea, you can definately do it....i took me a yr and im still here!!! now im in the rebuilding process....oh, and by the way, i see the you have a paid RJM acct... you can call them and ask them just to delete the negative TL and they will do it as long as its paid... i had 4 neg accts with them and i paid 50% and they deleted the TL for me... just some words of encouragement.... Did you send them letter to agree to 50%? This thread is very inspiring, btw

Thank you for posting this...I really needed to see a most recent Success story and this definitely counts in my book! -
Yes, just one single private loan. backstory: DH started to attend cooking school and was only in for 2 mos. Had to leave early because being in a large room with convection ovens that heated up to a steady 88-94 degrees aggravated his multiple sclerosis, causing an episode where half his body went numb and he was dragging his leg.

I'm at a loss, tried calling their recovery department and finally got routed to CSA that had snarky tones in saying it was charged off. No one wanted to take a payment. I remember a couple of years ago, it did go to collections, but I continued to send payment to Sallie Mae and the collection agency went away. Now they're saying that's not going to happen. Anyone? Just really frantic and panicked right now.

Seeing newer success stories definitely motivates and inspire!!! Thank you for posting that

:Ugh: I just submitted an application to Houshold Bank....I went through the HSBC preselector section and showed that I might qualify for the Household Bank Platinum Card. We'll see. I have a sinking feeling about this. Got the 10-14 day review message. Already paid electronically the processing fee as well.

They're not worth it. I regret purchasing 39.99 dollar earring from them...only to end up with harrassing phone calls because 1.00 carried over and accumulated late fees and finance charges after I had paid the balance in full on the 2nd month. Now I have a bad ding on my CRs and....and I have to constantly re-explain my account to each rep only to have them go...."oh." and delete it. I'm going to to do battle with them again over the phone (not recommended, I realize this, but now I have one of the name of the rep that I ask for repeatedly). And hope they remail my statement with the ZERO balance. I've requested dozens of times to close the account immediately after having them correct it. They also say that they can't make any changes with the CRA. Well, here we go.

I didn't mean for this to go slightly off topic. It is what it is when CSR's can't effectively communicate with you. It's not easy on either side and as far as I'm concerned I just want this matter straightened out. I'm at a loss here and get so easily frustrated when I do return their call. I'm at a point where I may just make up a powerpoint presentation or a simple graph to get my point across to them. Please, any more suggestions or people that have had this situation come up...your insight is greatly valued.

The 1st time yes. Didn't get any type of notification like you usually get for billing. I can't explain how they came up with the other charges that follow...the csr's that call me have limited english speaking skills. (I am not kidding), which adds further to the frustration.
