rslifkin, congrats on your approval and I'm sure you are being more responsible these days; we are all trying to be more responsible. It's easy to get hooked on an app-spree, but do some gardening. You may be able to get one more GEMB before the denials come in. I can't get a Kohl's card to save my life, but Macy's and Bloomie's love me! I have two GEMB cards and was denied for an Old Navy. I'm just going to garden and get that Old Navy card when the time is right Seriously, I used to think that this was a forum for informative, useful contributions. Lately, I see a whole bunch of useless comments that have nothing to do with the original post and then the followers creeping in to add their two cents to a negative comment. We are ALL here because of past and present credit issues, no one is better than the another - we all put our pants on the same way (one leg at a time). Bringing up useless past discretions is pointless and shows a complete lack of moral character and serves no purpose other than to make someone person feel bad.

Navy Oh! Yes, they do that automatically to me as well; however, they only do it if I make a purchase - not a payment
-
hmm was it when you made a payment? Have they done it more than once? Your answer is more interesting than my question Yes, they have done it more than once and no, it's not just when I make a payment. I always make a nice size payment before the statement cuts. However, if I make a purchase/payment, it seems my CRs are updated within days to reflect the new balance. I have other GE-backed cards, but Walmart is the only one to do this. It's interesting to me as well.
-
I would assume it depends on the creditor. Walmart has updated mid-cycle for me (automatically, didn't ask), other creditors haven't. Doesn't hurt to ask, though.

Why wouldn't they validate?? An OC still report a balance and you can still owe the balance despite it being "charged-off". If they SOLD the debt, then they would have to report a zero balance and whoever they sold it to could report it as a collection account with a balance due. If my memory serves me correctly, even though Capital One did not issue your card, they are keeping control of the Chase-issued cards. I believe it doesn't matter who issued/backed the card, it is still a Kohl's card. Check your Terms of Agreement when you were issued the card. Someone chime in here if I'm wrong....

Starting to dispute OC tradelines, a few questions

I'd be interested in getting information on this as well...all my collection accounts are gone. The only baddies are the charge-offs from 4 years ago. Wondering how much of an impact they have now??? -
My approval last month was instant, but I had to call in and verify some information before using my card number online (same for Bloomies). I'd be hesitant about giving my ss# over a chat session. Call them instead.

Girlspot, can you point me in the direction of FTC and Midland issue you referred to in your earlier post? Thanks!

+1 It would help if we had some pertinent information so we can guide you along....we like to help, but unfortunately we can't read minds.

ELFCU - Rebuilder Friendly Credit Union Master Thread
MsDana replied to lilyflower's topic in Credit Forum
It looks like the customer service rep, Cameron, I spoke with last night was WRONG. I just received an email - denied for chexsystems. At least it wasn't a hard inquiry on a credit report and I still have NFCU and my home bank LOL -
ELFCU - Rebuilder Friendly Credit Union Master Thread
MsDana replied to lilyflower's topic in Credit Forum
Well, after reading the responses on this thread, I decided to apply. BEFORE I applied I called customer service and asked a very nice gentleman, Cameron, if they pull a credit report and if they use Chexsystems. He said NO to both of them. So I applied, answered some verification questions, then received an application confirmation number, and a notice telling me that I will be contacted by a member of their staff for further details. I funded my accounts using my NFCU check card and printed out the signature card to mail and sign. I called this morning to make sure I did everything properly and Celeste said they were backlogged (imagine that), but I will get my login information by the end of the day. -
+1 with virtualtreasure. There are few resources for all the things you are looking for in a BT. What about a local credit union? I found a local one recently and have been very happy with their customer service and products that they offer. However, I don't have $15k debt, so that may limit your options. How long have you been with NFCU? Do you only have the one card with them? Can you apply for a different card and do a BT? Sorry if this is a dumb question, but Navy has been good to me and others. Why won't PenFed give you a CC with your scores? What are their reasons for denial?
