I joined Creditboards in 2008, but I didn't get serious about rebuilding my credit until 7 years ago when my scores ranged in the high 500s and low 600s. Today all of my credit reports are clean 😃! My last derogatory finally fell of my TU and EQ reports. And my scores, well, my signature says it all. A fellow cyberpal referred me to Creditboards, and it turned out to be a true blessing. I'm thankful for the assistance I received from the forum, and I wish those members who are no longer with us could see me now 😞. The journey wasn't easy, and it's definitely not over, but I'm glad I finally reached this milestone. My next goal...keeping up the good work! 😉

What’s a mortgage? 7 in 10 homeowners don’t understand the details of buying a house
-
I'm glad I stumbled on this thread, even if it is old by now. I've been considering buying my next home, and if I do I would be a first-time homebuyer at 59 or 60. I wondered if I was too old to be doing something most people do in their 20s and 30s, but I guess not :-).
-
That right there is the reason I'm still a renter at 57. I've heard the whole "why pay X for rent when you can pay the same amount in a mortgage" mantra and never fell for it. I knew that I could make a mortgage payment (although qualifying for one at the time wasn't happening). It was all the OTHER costs and responsibilities of homeownership that I wasn't ready to take on. I want to move in the next year or two and am even considering homeownership even at this late stage of my life. That said, I won't make that leap until my financial house is solid. I want to enjoy homeownership and not be "house poor".

That one sentence sums up my sentiments exactly. A home (or other property) purchase should never be made on impulse and without doing adequate due diligence.

TGIF!! I decided to stop and lurk a bit after being away from the forums for QUITE a while. Hope all of you are slaying it in every aspect of your lives and all is well with you. I'm going to try to be less of a stranger from now on..lol.

Perfect payment history, but Vantage score drops HUGELY!
Emperess replied to Emperess's topic in Credit Forum
Fortunately I'm aware that Vantage scores are to be taken with a grain of salt or else I'd be freaking out😄. Thanks! -
It's been a while since I dropped in here. I hope all of you are happy and well. My TU report shows an excellent payment history. My CC debt however, has steady risen over the $10K mark thanks to some unexpected dental work - and relying more heavily on my CCs than I should've. I've been making minimum payments - sometimes more when I can - but making minimum payments merely keeps you drowning in interest. I'm now working on paying down my CC debt, one card at a time and putting the paid cards on ice. Despite having only one CO that will be dropping off my report next year, my TU Vantage Scores have dropped 70 pts. My TU FICO score, however, went from 710 to 714. Could it be the increase in my CC debt be he cause of the drop? I pulled my credit report from TU and see nothing that would cause such a sudden spike.

Consumer Adjustment Bureau
Emperess replied to Emperess's topic in Medical Billing & Medical Collections
Hope everyone is enjoying your Friday 😁 Today I received notifications from Experian that my dispute was received and would be completed by December 10th, and hours later I was notified that the collection was removed. My score went back up to 711. There was a time when something like this would leave me in tears and feeling helpless. Not anymore, thanks to Creditboards.com. You all rock! Thanks so much, WhyChat. -

Emperess replied to Emperess's topic in Medical Billing & Medical Collections
I've received three alerts on different dates from Experian, notifying me that my report was flagged with a collection. It's referring to the same collection that's mentioned in this thread. As far as I can tell, it's the only collection. Why am I getting recurring alerts the same collection? -
Consumer Adjustment Bureau
Emperess replied to Emperess's topic in Medical Billing & Medical Collections
This CA (which actually goes by the name Consumer Adjustment Co) keeps flagging my EX report every two or three days, prompting a notification that the same collection has been added to my report. My score hasn't changed, however. I Can they do this? -

You can disregard this question. I see that we can use the Word version of the dispute form and use the font you mentioned. -

I'm curious to know the answer to Hegemony's question as well. Why would sending your Letter to Credit Bureau-Reinsertion not be an option in this case? Is it because I may not be able to locate the EX letter confirming deletion?
