I changed banks in December and an old service was being billed to the account for $5/month. Obviously, they couldn't get their money. So they sent invoices to an old address. Long story short, they sent me off to collections for $5 + $10 late fee + $25 Penalty The post office delivered a stack of mail that accumulated from that address over the last 6 months and 3 of their statements demanding payment were in there. I told my secretary to call them, change the address they had on file, cancel the service, and send them a check for whatever the balance was. They told my secretary the couldn't do anything, because it was already turned over to the collection agency. I told my secretary to call them and have them and see if they'd recall the debt so we could pay it. Should I just pay the collection agency and ask for removal? Any advice? I spent the last 6 years cleaning up my report - I really don't want this on there.

I got a pair of AMEX cards for the new year. AMEX Gold AMEX Platinum This was probably my first application since 2012. I was at a resort and the cabana next to mine paid with a AMEX gold. So, I decided I wanted one.

They did our closing separate. They signed on Thursday and we signed on Friday. I bugs me they used their troubled daughter in an attempt to nullify a contract. Thanks again.
-
Yep. Thank you. Since I had a contract, I just proceeded as planned. They signed. Done deal.
-
I saw a lawyer - and we put together a plan. But, I just proceeded with the contract ignoring the request to kill the contract. We closed yesterday.
-
Yes, they already moved out - vacant. Met with the atty - he said we had a shot at getting the court to force them to sign, but to be prepared to just get compensation for the money and time. The seller's agent called our agent today and said "why is it taking so long to close" - I think the seller has some issues. Thanks for the responses. Our closing is scheduled for Tuesday night.
-
They said their daughter isn't taking the move very well - and they just want to move back in their old house.
-
We spent 3 years looking. We find a house. We negotiate a price. Get it inspected. Get financing. Get it appraised. 3 days until closing... The seller wants out. They offered to buy us out of the contract, but I'm not interested in money - I want the house. We have not found the features we're looking for, in any of the others houses we've looked at so far. This one is perfect. It would cost around $100,000 more than our purchase price to build this same house. Are we stuck? We have an appointment with an attorney on Friday - but will a judge make someone leave their house? Or, am I just looking at compensation?
-
I worked my score up to 787. Made everyone whole and everything good. I go to buy a house. The state makes a mistake and doesn't record a tax payment from January '12. They throw a lien on my report for $93. My score drops to 711. My interest rate goes from 3.25% to 3.75%. The state promises to have the error corrected in 60-90 days. I will be closing on the house next week. I will be paying 0.5% more on a $300,000 house than I should have to.

Score was 734 Paid $4000 on credit card 1 - ($0 balance) No score change. Paid $2400 on credit card 2 - ($0 balance) No score change. Put $3100 on credit card 1 - Score dropped to 719. I don't get it.
-
Is there a point where you stop getting score jumps for certain things? I paid off a card to 0 - no score change. For every other payoff, there was a jump in score. I paid one down from 2600 to 800 - no score change. Just curious.
