Is it worth reviving an old LLC to start building biz credit?
tsaul replied to creditbwacked's topic in Business Credit
I am in the same boat. I have a LLC that was created in 2005 for my wife's business. Would it be as simple as making it active on the Secretary of State website for my state? -
Just registered for an account with Grainger today. I tried to get Net 30 terms so I opened up a chat session with them. I provided my DUNS number on EIN and got a Net 30 account this evening by email with a $1000 limit to start.

Well, after a long time I am back in the game trying to build credit for my new business. Originally, I incorporated a business with my wife and had some moderate success in building business credit. I started small with net 30 accounts with Staples and Quill and worked my way up to revolving credit with Citibank and Dell. We decided to let this business go in 2012, but we started a new venture last year. We had some bumps starting out; I forgot a lot of the lessons I learned here. I even bought Creditbuilder last year, I know, I know. That was stupid, but I really didn't make the time to properly do this right. So new, we begin again. Just placed my first order on net 30 terms with Quill. I have my DUNS number but never used it. My next move is to file my annual report with the state and open up a new business account. My ultimate goal is to get some credit vendors in my arsenal and be able to purchase or lease a van for the business with no PG. We use our home address for the business but we have a phone line that is exclusively for the business as all of us have cell phones. What do we do? Well, we do a food vendor business now for festivals here in Louisiana. We are also going to restart our previous business under our current LLC in August/September timeframe. All suggestions are welcome.

Car Loan Large Balance by Maturity Date

I have a somewhat similiar situation, but a little different. Back in 2006, I applied for and got a HELOC from American General, now known as Springleaf. I have a 21,000 balance and just like the original poster, most of my payments go to interest. Here is the difference in my situation; my wife and I have decided to put our house up for sale. I applied for and got pre-approval for a new mortgage from USAA for 220,000 over the phone. My credit scores are in the mid to upper 600 range. We are planning on buying new construction and we put down an earnest deposit of $1000. We have a contingency to purchase this house upon the sale of our current home. I have spoken to two realtors who both think that the max I can get for my house is in the 130K range. After the realtor commission, paying off my 1st mortgage of $104K, it does not leave me enough to get out of the second. I got approved for a VA loan at 3.378%, but my question is this; can I refinance the balance of the 2nd into a personal loan with my credit union while I have a pre-approved mortgage. I know that you can't go on a application spree, but I have to get out of this house. I originally wanted to move early next year, but the opportunity to get a new home was worth the risk. I had no problem getting the pre-approval for the new mortgage, but the market in my area is slow and the realtors think by pricing lower than what I wanted (145K), it'll help move my house faster. I live in Louisiana and my area was hit hard by Hurricane Issac. My house, fortunately did not flood, but it depressed the market big time here. Now, my pre-approval is good for 90 days, with an option to extend it out. If I lose out on this new home being built, I can find another house, but the area is perfect for us and we have never owned a brand new house before. One that my wife has already designed with the help of the builder. We have 60 days to have a purchase agreement for our current house, but I don't want to have Springleaf screwing me out of this home. I have got to get rid of them, but I don't want to tap my 401K. Any suggestions? Sorry for hijacking this thread, but the OP's situation with American General/Springleaf echoes mine.

Car Loan Large Balance by Maturity Date
tsaul replied to minitrukngrl's topic in Automotive Financing
Hello, while working on a financial spreadsheet that I was preparing for my financial advisor, I came across some interesting information. I have a car loan with Santander Consumer USA, who purchased the loan from CitiFinancial Auto. I had a 72 month loan and I have made 57 payments. I have 15 remaining. I have never been 30 days late, although I have accepted a couple of deferments due to Hurricane Gustav and also one about a year ago. The original payoff schedule was to have been March of 2014, now I think it is July of 2014. I do have some late payments of being 10 days past due, but according to my last statement: Unpaid Fees and Charges: $.00 Accrued Interest: $82.47 Principal : $11324.98 The maturity date is 5/21/2014 Something about this smells fishy so I am sending an e-mail to them asking for a complete accounting Here is the letter I sent: Hello, I need to know what is the amount of late payments that are due on the loan? I see that my balance is 11,324.98 and it should be a lot lower based on the number of payments that I have made, which is 57. With 15 payments left, there is a huge discrepancy on what you say I owe and what I figure I owe with math. So, if you are charging me excessive fees that I don’t know about, I want a full auditing of my payment history. This needs to include that amount of my payments that have went to principal and the amount that went to interest. According to my original contract when I bought the vehicle, the amount paid after all payments made is $29442.24. Based on my financial software calculations, I have paid $21263.92 in payments to CitiFinancial/ Santander. This should leave a balance due of $8178.32 so where are you getting $11,324.98 from? I need to know this and I need to know now. -

Zombie Debt Letter - not reporting, but calling every day

This debt is from 1999 -
Experts critique please, this is not reporting and they call everyday. They sent me a letter admitting the debt is past SOL, that they will not sue or report to any CRA Portfolio Recovery Associates, LLC Post Office Box 12914 Norfolk, VA 23541 Seller: Arrow Financial Services LLC Merchant: First Premier Account/Reference No: 4301718110223836 To whom it may concern, I received a letter from you dated January 21, 2013 over the alleged debt above. I have received numerous phone calls from your company to my home over the past several months. By your own admission on your letter, you are attempting to collect on a debt that is well beyond the statute of limitations for the state of Louisiana. I am demanding that you cease any further contact with me. This includes calling my home every day at 8 am, sending me settlement letters like you just did, and all other activities you may take. You are not to sell, transfer, assign, or share any information about me or this alleged debt with anyone else.

If they sell it, I will be watching.
