  2. I was in the same situation you were in 2 years ago. Rewards 660/Dakota State Bank/whatever suspended my account because I was paying in full more than twice a month. They then wanted me to fax my debit card that I was using to pay. I told them to ---- my ---(optional fourth -...lmao) and close my account (as soon as it was paid off). At this point I hada secured card and HSBC. Hooters would end up replacing it as my third card. Point is, you got two cards, and soon three (you just gotta be paitent). I didn't have my fake unsecured credit card for a year and I have 700 across the board. The only thing that's horrible about my credit (and I would imagine yours) is the Average Age of Accounts. Many of the good lenders want to see minimum 3 years. I have another year to go on that which is why I'm not apping anytime soon. KILL FP, AND THEN SHRED THE F'IN THING!
  3. Not reporting again, but when I called, it was number on my PLATINUM card. I really wish I had spent a few more dollars for the Elite though... If there is a backdoor number, I'd definitely would want to know it. According to http://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Credit-Car...bers/m-p/408066 Macy's: 800-627-2909 (Credit Dept. - new credit, inquiries on upgrade to Visa, credit reporting issues) Macy's: 800-543-9617 (Recovery Services) You the man, Mikey. I'm going to call Macy's and Bloomie's Credit Dept (Bloomie's has been posted by me in this thread) today.
  4. If you're going to pay because it's the right thing to do, that is fine. But keep in mind that a paid CO is still a CO. Not only that, but you reset the clock. If the thing is 6 years old, going on 7 (when it's scheduled for deletion) and you pay the CO, it will now be 7 MORE years from date of PAID status before it is removed from your CRs. You are better off doing one of two things: 1) Keep the TL as if, and try like heck to remove it through disputes and the like. 2) Go the PFD route. I know from what I read that Crap 1 (which is not in my wallet) tends to not want to do those (afaik), but if I were the creditor, I would definitely want money in exchange to remove this from the bureaus. Then again, your debt was written off anyway for taxes....but hey worth a shot.
  5. So Jason, what the duece?

  7. As of today, nothing yet to me. Limit is still $0/blank on both Macys and Bloomies. I guess it's gonna take time if they're, in fact, mailing letters.
  8. Right before the SHTF globally (August 2008), I was approved with a $850 limit (now $2500) with credit not much better than yours, OP. HOWEVER, things were definitely different then. Barclays is definitely trying to limit exposure. But the Barnes and Noble card is a very sweet card. I get $25 every couple of months (per $2500) for use at B&N. Not the greatest of rewards, but hey. If you find that your credit might have improved and you have low util, I would wait 3-6 months. (6 preferable).
  9. Definitely want to hear how that goes. Especially with them being under the gun since you have to go in a couple of weeks. Just remember to do your homework on top of their research. The only thing about them is that they won't go out of their way to get you the best deal at the onset, but hey, it is better than nothing. Depending how this goes with my nephew, I may have them book my Vegas getaway with DF and maybe have them plan it so that DF becomes DW (after 7 years...it's probably about time). (The hotel, the chapel, some romantic acoutrements and maybe some private AA time prior to the day... ) Prior to that, I may have one more thing that I might get done with them.
  10. Sure, I'll play along in an old thread... I have a checking account, credit card (that was a secured card...), and mortgage with Bank of America. I have NEVER experienced any problem with them. I love their convenience, though I hate the fact that there are no 24 hour ATMs in San Antonio (had to go during business hours.....glad I didn't need cash for a while). I have had a relationship with them since February, 2008. IMHO, folks who have a problem with BOA tend to be those that (for whatever reason) overdraft accounts, push envelope with due dates (that whole "I'll pay a CC bill on a Saturday" is a bunch of bull....BOA's Bill Pay is so easy to use and I can have bills paid on the Friday my direct deposit hits. If it's a BOA Bill, it's same day as long as you pay by 5PM (your local time zone, I believe). ). Whenever an issue did come up (one of my billers cashing a check earlier than due date, which would then cause me to overdraft), BOA took care of it immediately, because they saw it wasn't my fault. In fact, I guess cause it was happening often with other customers and BOA wanted to try to keep their $35 fee, BOA will now send a corporate check drawn on their account. For example. If you pay a 4-day biller $300 on 5/31/2010, BOA will mail a corporate check to the biller. If it gets their early and they cash it, that's fine. On 5/31/2010, the cash will leave your account. If your biller gets it late, it's irrelevant, you will still be drawn your $300 on 5/31/2010. If for whatever reason it didn't post on their end, the Bill Pay department will straighten it out with them, especially since you have already paid. There just isn't an excuse anymore and I'm not trying to shill for BOA, but I have really never had a problem. They allowed me to grow creditwise, and I'm eternally grateful to them for giving me a shot. Their ATMs are litterally everywhere and out of the two years that I used an ATM with them, I only went outside the ATM network once (and that was only because of an emergency...and did not know where a BOA location was at the time). Now that CCARD has come to pass, this lawsuit was probably settled favorably. At least I would hope so after all this time.
  11. Well, as promised I got my response back and I have to admit, I'm terribly impressed (overall). They gave me a list of 5 hotels. 2 of them I had already found on my own (I expected that). Three did not come up on my search. I researched the three they gave me and out of the three, one made the cut. I had saw that for the time my nephew will be in Barcelona, the price was 116 EURO a nice (currently $153 USD). Went to the hotel's website to see if they offered their own deal. Turns out, I qualify for a 15% discount if I booked now. Came out to 94.35 EURO a night. If I book right now, in USD it's under $1100. It met two of my criteria. It was in Las Ramblas, and they have continental breakfast included. From the reviews I read, the breakfast was above decent and the travelers were a mix of Europeans and fellow Americans. The rooms and service were nice and seems terribly accomodating. Rather than book it myself, I am going to test the concierge service further by seeing if they can book it at that price I found, plus see if they can make sure that my nephew cannot charge items to the rooms (pay-per-view, minibar, etc.). If they can do all of that, I'll just book it now and have him pay my interest. He'll have it paid before he gets on the plane and if there are any issues, I can always call them to see if they can help me out. I replied back via e-mail so I'll see how fast they respond to that. Man, I like feeling like I have a personal secretary. And I'm not even rich (by any stretch). LOL. I highly recommend that you at least try them if you have a Visa Signature. If you're already in the 700 club, the fact that you won't have a limit reporting on 2 of the 3 bureaus won't really kill you.
  12. I would venture a guess that you probably won't qualify. I would think that they will see you're report as being too dirty. I thought the same. I will at least wait until the INQs drop and my bad student loan goes away. I can probably fight them on the Paid Tax lien but not today.
  13. Funny, when I do a search on that quote on Google, it comes right back to this quote.... Not one to split hairs (but I guess I'm gonna anyway), can you cite where this marketing ploy is? I ordered my Innovis some time ago, and there wasn't much on it. I do remember that it wasn't fit for toilet paper.
  14. The highest range for Vantage is 990. Where does 830 come from? On 4/30/2010, my VantageScore is 798. By your math, (798/830)850=817 for me. But if I do (798/990)850=685, that seems a bit low. Though Vantage says I have a C score, I'm still "Prime". I just wish EX would just STHU and allow FICO to sell their scores. I don't get Vantage nearly as often as I "feed the monster". (Once every 2-4 month as opposed to once every month). Yeah Vantage is cheaper, but it still is garbage.
  15. Brazilians/Portuguese folk so wish to believe that their language is distinct from Spanish. It's not. We can totally understand what they're saying. If I wasn't in a happily committed relationship (not to mention that I rarely take vacation during the summer because of our shortened work week), I would totally go with him. But he's served our country in the Navy and has been to Germany and the UK during his time in the service. So Europe won't be anything new for him. But I figure anything I can do to at least make sure he is safe while he has great time in a place none of us are familiar with should be fine.
