  1. WOW!!! Congrats! Enjoy :-)
  2. Thank you all for the responses and suggestions. I've taken a look at the newbie sections and I'm not sure if they fit exactly what I'm looking for. I'm not looking to dispute and validate my problems away ... I want to pay these companies but I don't want to cause any 7-year damage either. I'm scared that if I just pay them they'll be able to validate the accounts with the CBs and I'll never get them off of my credit report. Response is from my iPhone.
  3. Thank you CreditBoyRoy for your reply. I can afford to pay off all of these debts over the next year or so but I don't know where to begin. While I do want to pay these debts off I also want the scars to go away and I'm afraid that if I just pay them off they'll be there forever and be verifiable. Also, although I was once an active member here I was on the "other side" and I didn't have to deal with disputes. All I was worried about was obtaining new credit and managing the credit that I had. So I don't know all that much about disputing and validations and all that jazz. Any advice on where I should begin is much appreciated.
  4. Hi Everyone, It's been a while since I posted here and my credit situation has changed - a lot. I've gone from having decent credit w/ no baddies (HAHA haven't used that word in a while) to having a three credit reports full of collections, charge-offs and even a judgment against me. Just over a year ago - in November of 2008 - after racking up some debt (due mostly to a pay cut and my failure to adjust my spending habits afterward), I lost my job. After losing my job I was quite confident that I would find another one soon. I continued to spend money, quickly burning through my savings and racking up even more debt. Needless to say that after a few months of this reckless behavior I found myself in a terrible position ... I had no money left and my bills were due. It was at that point that I realized the reality of my situation. Long story short, my credit is now ruined and I've never had to rebuild before so I don't know where to start. I have a new job that I've been in for a few months and I'm ready to pay this stuff back and get it off of my reports! I've listed the accounts that appear on all three of my credit reports below. With each listing I've included the amount I owe, current status of the account, date of last status and any other information that is provided by the CBs that I think is relevant. Please help me. CURRENT/GOOD ACCOUNTS Com: USAA Bal: $0 DO: 12/1/08 CBs: Ex,Eq,T Status: Closed but never late. Com: Fingerhut Bal: $0 DO: 10/1/07 CBs: Ex,Eq,T Status: Closed but never late. All of my current open accounts are Authorized User accounts (because life is hard w/o credit cards). Where do I start? All of these accounts are legitimate and are my responsibility. I opened all of them. Any help is appreciated.
  5. Bank of America Platinum Plus I would have to say. Either the student (which they dont verify) or the regular. If you have no credit at all, the BOA card is almost a guaranteed approval. Capital One is good for new credit. But I'd go for the BOA card because they grow with you and it gives you history with them for some of their better products down the road. Good luck. BOA!!!
  6. Congrats... But Im sure you would have pulled the trigger even if the S&H wasn't free lol
  7. Customer Service Reps/Member Service Reps starting pay of around $11 hour with no experience (I know this thanks to my friend). Most other salaries in CUs are slightly below or inline with salaries at most major banks.
  8. I know... I actually have a young friend, 18 years old, who now works at SECU. Great guy. I'm a member at SECU and NFCU, but not APGFCU.
  9. You're near Pensacola? I'm probably going to be moving to or near Pensacola in the next few months...
  10. Well if you love being a member of NFCU, why not go and work for them lol... They're hiring Member Service Reps. I would, but I'm not in the Banking or Customer Service career fields...or Ft. Meade, MD for that matter. P.S. Hope this doesn't break any rules.
  11. I have the card. It's worth depends on your credit, imo. If you can get one of the credit cards, the 1 point-per-dollar is better than the 1 point for every two dollars with the check card. I got it because of the dividend miles dining program. It took me almost two years to earn enough points for a trip. I no longer use it because of better rewards programs with some of my credit cards. Hope this helps!
  12. This is great news. I have 3 lines with T-mobile and although I love them like a child, I really want out of the contracts. I'll talk with a few people and decide if I want to cancel or not, and go with something no contract.
  13. UDF? What's that? Never seen it around here before...
  14. I think the guy should have had to pay something. A ZERO balance because it was $19,000+ ? And how did you guys figure out that it was Bell CA? Was that in the news? Isn't Rogers Canada's AT&T?

    >>???? how am I a snob for saying I have no used for such a toy???? isn't the ipohne lovers who are snobbish? why can't people have respectful disagreements??? it is just a DAM phone. LOL Hegemony... Lighten up. Im sure Chris meant no harm. Sounds like it was a joke to me. No one says "bedam" and actually are trying to be taken seriously. OP, from what I read, you have all paid items on your credit report? No trade lines? If so, that could be your problem. The same thing happened to my best friend because he didn't have any trade lines, and an old sprint collection from some CA that does Sprint. I added him as an AU on two of my older cards and he was approved for up to 3 lines after they began to report. And I love my perfect iPhone. Saved me $200
