  1. has anyone seen any pre-approvals? I'm used to seeing them on the 1st.....hmmmmmm...maybe I didn't make the cut this go round....
  2. Ok Im not sure if this will make sense but the old DPP which is now the Star card, should have already been paid. The reason I say this is when you apply for the card, the fine print on the back states that if you go into default, they (AAFES) by law can have the money owed taken directly from your DFAS (military) check. With that being said, Im not sure if it applies to the salary of a retired individual. If they did in fact take money from his check, it would show up as "treasury offset" or something like that. Hopefully this helps, if even a little bit. I would google their corporate office, should be a Dallas, Tx listing. Good Luck!
  3. I cant speak for everyone, but in my experience most lenders wont lend money for cars with over 100k...Most lenders set the limit at 75k miles.... Im not saying its not possible, just not common...others with more experience in this area should be able to help you further.
  4. Ok so along with everyone else thats getting some luv from GEMB, I decided to request a cli on my jcp card. First, I wanted to share some history on this acct. I opened this acct in 2008 with a 200 cl. Yeah I know my credit sucked big time back then...Anyway I went from 200-1800-cld'd to 1000- then increased to 2700-then increased to 4700. Please note, I have used this card 1 time since acct opening for a $30 purchase. Today, via the mandatory phone cli request- I asked for $7000. The next thing I know I am hearing the dreaded 7-10 message, blah, blah, blah....but then unexpectedly I hear however, although we could not approve you for $7000, we would like to offer you $6200....do you accept? I said yes, then finished the call..... Im gonna go out on a limb and say that jcp doesnt restrict cli's if you dont use the card. I only say this because I have received 3 cli's in a row like clockwork, every 4 months....Anyone else agree? Oh also it was a soft on exp.
  5. DollarBill- yeah that happened to me too.....back in the day it was hit the bar and hopefully take a girl home, now that Im married its hit the bar and go home and put in a few credit apps....lol... Sedric1- Penfed was the 2nd app so I only had 2 EQ inq showing plus it was already in my approved offers box. I have to wait a few more hours to check if Penfed even pulled a cr. Road2Freedom-There is a chance I may regret going app crazy...I now have way to many cards...but honestly there isnt a card out there that I still want....except maybe a Black Card...but thats out of my reach...
  6. Ok so after 4 hours at the bar, I decided to come home and app a bit. Ok, so maybe more than a bit... First it was for the USAF club card thru chase... got the we need more time to process...then it was the USAA Air Force Sergeants Association M/C...Approved for 20K @ 10.9 (lowest rate)....should have stopped there but I figured, o well still got those PENFED approvals.......next I apped for the PENFED Visa Platinum Rewards.... approved for 20K at 9.9 (lowest rate) ..... I really gotta stop drinking...... Oh well as Meatloaf one said "2 out of 3 aint bad" I have now met my goal of 250K in available credit...... Im done with the apps...and Im done with drinking...or am I? No, Im done...I swear.......

  8. YMMV! My Eq Fico is 782, My USAA Fako is 781... So for me they are extremely close!
  9. Ok, I was in a similar situation and just recently found the answers that you may be looking for. Back in 04, I had a Providian account that was charged off (2K). As most of us are aware, Providian accounts became Chase assets. Anyway, it was never paid and eventually was removed from all of my reports. Two days ago I called Chase to see about getting a CLI on an account that I have had for 3 years. (Chase Military Star Rewards Mastercard) The account was opened in 2008 with a credit line of $500. I never had an auto increase from Chase so I figured I would ask them for an increase since my credit has improved a vast amout since the account was opened (Experian 955 Vantage Score). Anyway, The CSR told me that in order to process the request they would have to pull a report from Ex, so knowing that my report was spotless I told her to go ahead and pull it. She asked how much I wanted and I told her that most of my cards had limits from 10K-30K so that I would like a CLI from $500 to $20,000. I know that is alot to ask for but she told me that if I didnt specify an amount the system would only request a CLI of $1000. I told the CSR that I wouldnt burn an inquiry on Ex (of all places) for $1000, so thats when I told her that I wanted 20K. She ran the request and the system kicked back the " we are processing your request, further research is needed, you will get a letter in 7-10 days, blah blah blah......however, the CSR said that I didnt have to wait and that she would get an underwriter/supervisor on the line and I would get an immediate decision. So the underwriter gets on the line and tells me that my report looks great; however, she wanted to know about a Chase account that was C/O in 2004. I told her that I never had an account with Chase during 2004 (which wasnt a lie) She said ok, and moments later came back after a brief place on hold and said that my request was approved and was available for immediate use. So hopefully that will answer your question (at least for Chase) Yes, they do have a memory; however, with a CLI of $19,500 on a $500.00 card, I dont feel that they held it against me.
  10. So I took the plunge on my NFCU Platinum MC. Was at 25K, asked for 50K, just checked and now my CL is 30K. I will find out in an hour (when I can refresh my report) if I took a hard for it. Or, maybe the hard will show up days later. I will let you all know! Anyway 30K is my highest line to date!
  11. I wanna pull the trigger, but Im afraid of a hard....well not afraid, but you know...... opened the card in April 2011...currently 25K limit.....used once...paid in full......think I should take the chance? Eq Fico is 782, 3 inq, 1% util......
  12. So after advice from another CB'er I checked for pre-approvals, and wouldn't you know there was a long list of them (first time for me). My question is; how likely is it to have your application approved based off of a pre-approval? Also, on a side note.....Penfed only offered me 9K on a credit card...I guess they think the 200K in available credit I already have is enough. Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me. Thanks and Happy new Year from the UK!
  13. I think that cc checks work differently than a purchase does. I believe that once the check clears, the account then starts accruing interest(I dont think there is a grace period on convenience checks). Lets say I write a cc check for $200 to company x, 25 days later the payment is due..... If I were to pay in full, I would owe the original $200 plus 25 days of interest at the cc companies cash advance rate (unless they are promotional checks) If I am wrong, please correct me...however this is how it has worked for me in the past.
