I'm in IL and it is Weltman, Weinberg & Res who I believed bought the accounts from TERI when they actually filed for bankruptcy several years ago. The promissory notes sent to me are all dated 1990 and 1991. There are 3 accounts in total, and I believe one was sold to a JDB. Asked them for verification, I'm still waiting, and they had put it on my credit report, but has since removed when I disputed. They have sent me nothing but the original promissory notes and letters--and have "assured" me that the interest and fees have been properly calculated. I believe Weltman has a Chicago location, but all of the letters I've been getting are coming from OH. Any suggestions?

I'm looking for help on some student loans that have defaulted. Long story short, filed Chp 13 in 2007 and my private loans went into default and sold to a CA. Been done for 2years, only baddies on my CR are these loans. I don't believe that the amounts they are saying I owe are valid. These loans are 20 years old and I had been making payments as had my trustee. I'm trying to get a simple statement of how the amounts owed have been calculated . I know they don't have anything, as they just keep sending me the original promissory notes, which are moot at this point for the above reasons. I have been going back and forth with them now using the BBB as an intermediary. They are now requesting cancelled checks from my payments, which I don't have as I haven't been making payments directly to them since before 2007. What action can I take at this point? I'm not saying I don't owe anything, but I don't believe I owe what they "say" and believe that have to provide me with documentation as to how they have calculated these amounts. I'm doing a great job at rebuilding since my BK fell off last month, and want to be done with this once and for all. Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

Long story short, I filed Chp 13 in 2007 which then caused my private student loans to default. Once I finished it in 2012, I was contacted by a collection agency telling me what they feel the amounts due are. Since then, I have been trying to get a record of my account, as I had been paying on the loans for almost 15 year prior to filing BK and they were receiving payments from the trustee while I was in BK. The agency is Weltman Weinberg. I have tried sending registered letters asking for this information, filing a complaint with the CFFB and now the BBB. All they keep sending me is the original promissory notes that are from 1990-1991. I have not received any kind of billing statement since early 2007 when I first filed BK. I do not believe I owe as much as they are saying I owe due to the fact that I have been making payments forever. I'm not saying I don't owe anything, but I want to see how they arrived at their figures, what interest and fees have accrued, etc. Is it unreasonable to expect to get this information? I don't know what else to do at this point. My Chp 13 should fall off my credit report at the end of May, and I would really like these collection accounts to go away too. The original loans were through TERI, which I believe has gone bankrupt themselves, but they should have at least transferred this information when they sent the accounts to collections. Please help!

Yep--Crate and Barrell--$2K limit--I was very excited.---I think I had a rug in my cart when it popped up, it was probably around $100 (which I didn't buy). DH and I both got the Sportmans Visa, our scores are in the 670-690 range.

I was able to get Crate & Barrel, Buckle, Lane Bryant, VS, Sportsman's Visa and Restoration Hardware within two weeks. I am 8 months out of Chp 13. Got all with the shopping cart trick.

My husband rec'd this letter too. We IIB'd AmEx in 2007. He hasn't checked his credit in ages, and has not disputed anything with them.

No response from CA on defaulted loans--now what do I do?

They sent me copies of one of the promissary notes by mail (and faxed the ones that they forgot to mail to me), so I have provided them with current contact information. -

They are private loans, all from the same lender (TERI) that filed BK and sold the loans to a CA. Can they get a judgement against me without notifying me first that they are doing that? -
After getting out of BK13 last July, my credit report got hit with 3 collection accounts for defaulted student loans. I talked to the CA a few times--they wanted a settlement of more then I could pay at one time and weren't will to negotiate smaller payments. I sent them a letter asking them to verify the amounts owed (as I have beeng paying on these student loans for 10+ years, they rec'd payments while I was in BK and the amounts seem higher then they should), also asked for proof that they own the debt and a few other things I found on one of the stickys. I sent the letter registered mail in Nov. Since then, I have not heard one thing--no letters, phone calls, nothing. I tried to dispute the items on my credit report, all come back as having been verified. What am I supposed to do at this point? Do I send another letter? My guess is that they don't have the information I have requested as I have not heard anything from them since Nov, prior to that I was receiving phone calls and letters in the mail. All they have been able to provide me with are the original promissary notes, dated 1992 and earlier. According to my credit report they will "fall off" in July, 2014, which is about the same time my BK should be deleted. Any advice would be appreciated.

We had an FHA loan when we first bought our house, but once we had enough equity we re-financed to get rid of the PMI. Will we have to go back to paying PMI iwth a government loan? If that's the case, it doesn't sound like we'll be saving any money even with a lower interest rate.

We recently were discharged from our Chp 13 in July (5 years!) I contacted our lender to try and refinance our mortgage under HARP and they told me I'm not eligible because of the BK. Is there anyone out there that will do a refi after BK? Our rate is 6%, and I know the rates are much lower. We did not include our mortgage in the BK, we paid outside of it, and have remained current on all our payments. We also have a home equity loan, so with the two combined, I'm not sure that we have enough equity given the market, which is why I wanted to go the HARP route in the first place. Any advice would be appreciated--TIA

Logged on to pay my Orchard Cards today, and saw a message that HSBC has sold their credit card business to Capital One. I have two Orchard cards and a Discover card through them--I'm wondering if they will eventually be closed by Capital One. I had a WAMU card that was closed by Chase when they bought them out. I've had all three cards for at least 4 years, I haven't applied for a Capital One card in a few years, but was denied because of BK, though I never IIB'd them. Anyone have any additional information? The Q&A section they posted was lame, at best.

So my report came today with a letter that stated the following: "Please be informed that while processing your request, a discrepancy was discovered that associates the Social Security number you have provided to us with another individual's account information. Therefore your file has been forwarded to the appropriate personnel for handling." The report they sent me was completely clear. I called them and was told that someone else's name is showing up under my SS#, so now I have to fax them a copy of my SS card to verify it belongs to me, and that will hopefully clear it up. So.....continuing to wait.
