I got the iphone on launch day, love it by the way. I called the night before to do the credit check. They said I would need to put $500 down! Asked if there was anyway around this as it would prevent me from getting the phone. (I see no reason to pay a security deposit equivalent to over 5 months worth of service.) I assume if I stopped paying my bill they would cut me off at around 2-3 months. Sat on hold for quite a while, CSR came back and said they over road the deposit and I wouldn't have to put anything down. Went in on launch day and told them I had done the credit check online and my file was in the computer. But they were having computer problems. She said they would have to run my credit again. I explained that was fine but I had been told my original $500 security deposit had been waived. Luckily when they ran my credit again it came up $0 deposit. Only one eq pull too. YMMV of course, good luck.

Anyway else still waiting for their checks? My parents have yet to get them. They filed jointly ssns are 88 and 71. 88 is the first name on the return, they filed a paper return just before April 15th... I told my dad to try the hotline and he said it didn't really provide any information. Any suggestions???

I agree. Bumpability, ease of disputing, and speed of updating seem to be what determines if a CRA is liked, well, as much as one can like a CRA.

Have you ever found loose change cleaning your sofa?

Bob, I think you should add me to one of your cards as an AU. You can keep the card of course, it would do wonders for my utilization and future starting limits. That 100k amazon will do fine, I'm not picky... Seriously though, I wonder what increasing available credit by over 30x would do to my scores... -
Only retail card I have is macys. lol not really upscale, but it has been good to me so far. I almost go bloomingdales when I apped for macys but decided it wasn't worth the ex pull.

OMG, I just freaked out when I read the title. LOL, good one.

I voted experian for favorite and least favorite. TU would have been my favorite except for this recent funny business with reinserting inqs. I hate ex because you can't bump, but I haven't been able to b* on eq either and tu is now putting them back, so that isn't really a reason to hate them now. I like them because they always updated on time. Not like tu and eq which sometimes seem to be a month or two behind.

0% chance of getting an AMEX right now. I was actually told this when I applied with 2 months history by a csr. They like to see at least 6 months history. 12 months is better. As for your income, you should look into a credit union. JFCU is good, they will probably give you a couple thousand with a 60k income if you can show documents to them supporting that.

I just pulled a minute ago and I now have 4. One previous one that had been bumped (citi) is back. The other three are recent. TC faco did not change at all though.

Are you sure? Also, I would call about the missing card. Yes, if you are uncertain you can call them. A copy of the email they send you with your member number on it is all you need. In fact, they never sent me that either so someone on the boards just gave me a copy of theirs and I pasted my member number into it. Eventually they did send me my email, but by that time my application had already been sent in an approved. Regarding the NSA card, I really don't care if I have it or get it. I simply joined to get into JFCU. That was all. I don't care about proving I am a member. In fact, I wish credit unions that have "ins" like JFCU with the NSA membership would just charge you the $20 to join. I would rather give it to them than some random organization. Or since they are not for profit, maybe just require people to put it in share savings and require it to remain there.
