  1. oh, and why avoid orchard?
  2. i'm 23, have $1554.02 in debt from a wells fargo visa card I got 3 years ago. it keeps changing creditors like water, now i've got NCO Finanical Systems Inc after my tail on it. only credit card I have right now (secured) is a $200 orchard bank master card. if I saved up the full $1554 amount and sent that into the credit shark, would that have any effect on my credit rating to really boost it? is NCO one of those that will continue to hassle for more payments even if I sent the full amount in? even if it's only $300 unsecured, is that still a good start for a non secured card? i'm more looking for a card that starts demonstrating proper credit behavior, the amount of the credit line isn't all that important. I'm not expecting a $2000 line at a 601 fico score...
  3. Few days ago, I logged into my email and found a email from myfico scorewatch that my fico score increased 15 points, to 601. today, Orchard bank sent me a email extending a offer for a premium visa. sure enough, it is a premium visa offer, seeming like I don't have to secure it with my own money like my first orchard bank mastercard. Should I go for this? Will this help my credit score go higher, or will it plummet like a rock? I'm not "desperate" for credit, just looking to improve it more and more, and it's seeming like to me a credit card that doesn't have to be secured is starting to show that banks want to trust me again.. thoughts? yay or nay?
  4. would they give one to someone with a experian score of 585? i'm looking for a card that is not secured to hopefully help with my ratings some. it's still shocking to me that people out there with huge credit problems get handed cards like candy yet I am laughed at and thrown out the door. I've got a secured card from hsbc, but would like to acquire a non secured card.
  5. these just remind me why I consider credit reports illegal, immoral, and disgusting. 2 out of the 3 want me to send picture id's and other bs to get the copy of the report, and experian asks stuff like "we see you opened a automotive loan in 1998. please choose who the loan was from or does not apply" how do I get a automotive loan when I was 13-14 years old? apparently I am old enough to get a loan for a brand new ford, but not old enough to drive it. horray for stupidity!
  6. i have a account with sprint/nextel (cell phone) and then the orchard one soon. a negative is the wells fargo one for about $1400 or so. some thug bill collector has that one, which I am ignoring. nothing else is active on the report. all orchard would let me do is get a card sent to my old address, it refused the new information I gave to where I live.
  7. what exactly is a AU card? I can't find anything, just bank cards for the land down under. am I screwed now, and my secured credit card won't do anything to help with credit?
  8. Finally broke down and got a orchard bank secured card ($200 limit, waiting for it to process) $200 got taken out for the security account, now what? was this a good decision? or a bad one? any idea how long it takes to up a credit rating also? the site claims they report monthly, do I see decent gains if I checked the report, or i'll be waiting for 10 years to see a credit rating gain? finally, what about updating a address with the bureaus. how difficult is that to do? can it be done online?
  9. so I should still fire off a letter telling them to basically give proof or I will fire bomb the credit agency with letters to get it removed? I never contacted them at all, only had a week or less to draft a letter refuting the debt, got busy with other stuff then recieved the second letter. I meant to say douche nozzle, but misspelled it. sorry! if they do offer proof (kinda sounds like they may not?) then what do I do next? cave in? I read stuff on budd hibes thought that they seem to demand more and more money from someone so sending $ may not be a good idea.
  10. around february 2007 (happy birthday!) I recieved a threat letter from Curtis O Barnes to pay money or else. claims that I had 10 or 30 days to dispute the debt, except the problem was that it was mailed with intent to only give about a week or less for a response/to act. Recieved another letter demanding payment in full immediately of $1,198.26 or I will recieve action. I have not heard anything since from this douch nozzle. What should I do? ignore him, or can I get it thrown off my credit report. There has been no contact via phone or mail at all after this letter. My credit scores are 552,568 and 553 accordingly to myfico.com.
