Experian are crooks. They will just give you the runaround. It's impossible to make them re-investigate once you get into the "Previously Verified" realm.

A virus wouldn't cause your computer to need be completely rebuilt. At the most, you'd just have to format the harddrive and reinstall the operating system. Any decent computer tech could get the malware/virus off with little or no effort and without having to format. I've been building and repairing computers for 20 years and no virus is bad enough to have to rebuild a computer. So most likely, the "IT Guy" is trying to make a buck one way or the other.

Just a testament to the stupidity in this country. When I sell a home, the VA guy will be my first choice every time. I don't care if it takes a few more days to close. The fact that veterans are getting shunned by sellers goes to show the lack of appreciation this country has. But I bet those same people would hate it if people stopped volunteering to serve and a draft was enacted. i wish it would honestly. A draft would be just the thing this country needs.

We found a house we really liked today. And it was well priced. So we made an offer for listing price. My agent just called me and said that we didn't get it. She said that someone else had made an offer at full price after us, and that the listing agent said that "the other buyers have more attractive financing". She literally said that since we were doing a VA loan, that the seller accepted the other offer. Is this common? I thought of a VA loan as a benefit for military service. But now I'm thinking it makes us look like unqualified buyers or less attractive buyers...

Prepare for a lot of waiting. They are extremely backlogged right now. I applied for a preapproval over two weeks ago. I also applied to USAA at the same time. I got my USAA preapproval in 24 hours. 18 days later I'm still waiting on my NFCU preapproval. The couple times I've talked to my loan officer, she has said that there were like 16 loans in front of mine for her to process. I finally got a call back on Monday, and she said everything looked good and I should have my preapproval by Wednesday. Today's Friday, and not a peep. About to tell them to just forget it. We're going to look at a bunch of houses today, and they can't even get me a preapproval letter.

It's weird that you just replied. I was just reading how these referral things work with NFCU and USAA. They end up taking like 35% of the Realtors commission. And from what I've read, the brokers only give these kind of referrals to people "either coming in or going out". So the least experienced agents, or the ones about to retire who could care less. I'll be firing my agent Monday. I also won't be using a referral program. I'm going to find m own buyer's agent.
-
I've got a preapproval through USAA for way more than I want to spend. I'm actually using the Realty Plus program through NFCU. They assign an "coordinator", who then finds a local "approved" agent. So no buyer's agent agreement. What is involved in getting a buyer's agent?

We're shopping for our first house. I'm not really happy with the service I'm getting, and curious if this is normal or not. Our guy seems pretty lazy, and I'm pretty much doing ALL the legwork. I spend a lot of time on Realtor sites shopping for places and scouting for new listings that meet our requirements. He doesn't seem very proactive at all. I gave him a extremely specific list of what we wanted in a house. One of the KEY things the house has to have is broadband internet of some sort. Since I'd I'd told him that a couple times, I figured he was checking new places for broadband since I was so adamant about it. So I tell him to setup a day to view a few houses since we live an hour from the area. One that I picked, and a few new construction houses that weren't on the internet yet. He found them. So we go out and look, and fall in love with the new construction houses. We decide on the one we want, and feel like we're done shopping. As an afterthought, I go home and check for internet. NOTHING. No cable. No dsl. I also check the other houses he had found. NOTHING. So he's obviously not checking for broadband and doesn't seem to really care. My wife is sad and pissed since we loved the house. I'm pissed since he got our hopes up Fast forward to yesterday. I call him and say we want to do a second look at a house we'd looked at before. It met our requirements, had broadband, but was priced high. We were going to look at it and possibly put in a lowball offer. If they accept, good. If not, meh. He pipes up during the call and says he think internet may be available in the subdivision with the new construction house after all, because another realtor was renting a house there and that he has internet. It's a brand new subdivision and the realtor he's talking about is having his house built there as well. So I tell him, "Well find out what company and speed he has. If it is available, then we don't need to do a second viewing of the other house." I stress to him that if there is broadband available, then we will want one of the new construction houses. I then repeat to him that we won't want to view the other house, and that all he has to do is call and find out what they other realtor is getting as far as broadband. Today he emails me that he setup an appointment for the second viewing. GAHHHH!!!!!! No mention of the internet I asked him to check on. And he made the appointment for the wrong day!! So I just got on the realtors site, found the other realtor who lives in the subdivision, and fired off an email He responds in 5 minutes saying that AT&T has U-Verse DSL available in the subdivision and that he has a 6 Mb/s package. Which is good enough. He said the sub is so new that they AT&T can't find it on their system, but that he has the engineers number who can get the new houses setup. So is this how it's supposed to be? I was thinking they realtor would be more like me. Constantly searching for new places, checking comparable home prices that sold recent, and researching neighborhoods. I was expecting constant communication with the agent. I spend WAY to much time doing research on houses. But this guy doesn't do much of anything, and obviously doesn't grasp what we are wanting, or that broadband internet is important to some people. tl;dr version - Realtor seems lazy and not very quick - I have to have broadband. I tell this to realtor multiple times, and even email him a list of what the house MUST have. - Realtor takes us to see a bunch of houses, none of which have broadband. We fall in love with one only to have our hopes dashed. - Realtor later tells us broadband may be available on the house we wanted. I tell him to verify it so we can stop shopping. He doesn't and sets us up a viewing on another house, and makes it for the wrong day. - I email a different realtor and have all the info within 5 minutes

I wasn't sure if I could still access my loan on the USAA website since they sell their loans. I just got off the phone with USAA, and they confirmed I can still access everything through them. I can pay the bill and service the account through their site, which is amazing btw. Best bank site on the planet I'm willing to bet. They told me they have 3 investor banks, and at closing one of the banks will purchase the loan. After that, the loan will never be sold again. All customer service and everything is still done by USAA from what I understood. That eases my mind. I'm thinking about going ahead and using them. How was the home buying process overall? Any complaints or anything? The preapproval was super fast and easy. They pulled credit and called to ask a couple questions. Had the preapproval back within 24 hours with like a 3.5% rate. They've treated us really well. Great insurance rates, approved us for our first high limit cards, and approved us for two auto refi's when our credit was still in the toilet. Just scared after reading some of the reviews on their site about the mortgage customer service and stuff...

Also USAA IS actually charging me for the application fee I believe is 50$ and some 500$ processing fee I believe. I thought about going the FHA route but that would involve a big down payment and the rates are a bit higher. I honestly thought the whole process would be a bit easier but facing the reality has actually disappointed me also. I just got a preapproval with USAA for a VA loan, and they definitely charged me an application fee. $50.

Looking for opinions on good places to get a VA mortgage loan. I currently have a preapproval with USAA. Kind of scared to use them after reading some reviews. I have a preapproval pending with NFCU. Haven't been really pleased with the service so far. Been nearly two weeks and no response. A week ago I called and finally got ahold of the loan officer, after multiple calls and messages with no response. She basically said she didn't know when she'd have an answer, that she had like 10 loans to process before she even looked at mine, and was just overall rude and off-putting. So I'm curious to who people are using to for their VA loans. I'd like to go with a bank/credit union that has been giving people great customer service and who are really great to work with. Thanks in advance.

Hmm, I guess I'll be getting the same packet. We have some old baddies, all out of SOL, that aren't even effecting our scores anymore. I wander why they wouldn't just send this packet via the secure mortgage message system so you could fill it out on you computer and just email it back in???

So did you get declined? Or did you get approved and they just send you a credit disclosure packet? I applied Monday, and my loan officer said we should get a response my this Monday. I also applied to USAA, and got that preapproval back within 24 hours.
