Ugh First missed Citimortgage payment in 13 years. Looking for advice
EC99SS replied to EC99SS's topic in Credit Forum
Thanks! I didn't have the chance to call as we've been in an all day presentation (so I couldn't sneak out to an extended period). I will, however, call them tonight to confirm they received last month's and this month's payments and start the discussion with them about removing the negative. -
Ugh First missed Citimortgage payment in 13 years. Looking for advice

All I'm just about done drafting my letter with justifications based on inputs above as well as some research. I have found 3 different addresses and not sure which to use (or send a letter to each??). 1) For Notice of Error, Request for Information or Qualified Written Request against a mortgage they say to send to Customer Research Team in Hagerstown, MD 2) For existing mortgage accounts their contact is Sioux Falls, SD 3) I found the names of the CFO and SVP for CitiMortgage. Both have addresses to O'Fallon, MO Any help in sifting through which one(s) I should send the letter too would be appreciated. Thanks much! -

Being 30 days late and blaming it on NSF auto pay means not once in those next 30 days did the OP reconcile their accounts, check for fraud etc. It was not a "freak of nature". And yes you're right I didn't reconcile. For the past 5 years I have worked to have nearly zero debt (all CC's paid, all cars paid). For the past 3 years everything has been set to automatic. Private school is paid for, bills are paid for, money is put into 529, and money put into savings each month. And still leave around $1000 into checking. Exact same...all on auto. Sorry not meant to sound like bragging but just showing a basis of why I didn't reconcile. Our spending habits have not changed (may fluctuate slightly either way but not significant). I have only 2 debts really (mortgage if you want to count that as a debt) and an old loan that was taken out 3 years ago for house upgrades. It has been widdled down from $25,000 to $3,000. In the month of November I put in a lot extra to try and knock that last loan off. Sadly our pay hit the day after mortgage was set to pay. So yes, first time that has happened in 3 years. Reconciling or not I've never had a problem until last month. Now could this have been avoidable? Sure. After after that many years...yes to me that was a freak of nature occurrence. Thanks for your input...however if you'd like to be bitter. I'm sure there are other threads you can do that in. Thanks to everyone else that has helped! Thanks -

Thanks! Here's my approach. Please let me know if this is a good plan: 1) I will call them on Monday to discuss that I recently paid the "late" mortgage as well as ask what can be done about removing the notice from my credit report. I understand they most likely won't do anything but hopefully they can direct me to right people to talk too. 2) Generate a goodwill letter and send. Do I send to customer service and Executives? Now I found Executives by searching Bloomberg. Should I send the letter to only one or could I sent to a couple of them? Lastly any advice on best way to find the appropriate people at Citimortgate to email/send a letter too? 3) I'll send an email as IndianaGuy mentioned. Hopefully they will forward to appropriate people. How does this sound? Too much redundancy or not enough? Thanks again all for the advice. -

Thank you. Can you elaborate a little more. I'm not sure I understand what you mean by asking them not to report for that month. I believe they already have as I got an alert on my Credit Report. Also would it be anyone on the Executive Level? Thanks -
Hi all I've been a long time reader on here and have gathered very valuable advice and help. I've spent the past 2.5 years building my credit (currently FICO 8 scores: EX (818), EQ (831), TU (816)). Last month December I just noticed I missed the mortgage payment for Citimortgage. This is the first time in 13 years! I have it set to billpay (set and forget). However this time it was one of those freak of nature timing where there was NSF at the day it was to be paid. Recently I put more into paying down an old Discover loan. Now I'm truly bummed as I got an alert on my Credit that it's been reported 30 days late. I'll continue researching however all this is new to me. Any suggestions? Since today is Sunday they are closed and I will call them first thing in the morning. However I don't suspect they'll do anything for me. I read about writing forgiveness/goodwill letters and will certainly do that this week. I'm hoping those with experience can offer any advice as well as known good addresses, phone numbers and/or fax numbers. Lastly, approximately how much of a hit will I take to my credit score? We were hoping to buy a new home this year and truly hope this doesn't significantly affect me. Anyone ever have luck in this situation? Any help is greatly appreciated. Needless to say I'm freaking out inside :( Thanks

A little confused on credit card interests and avoiding it
EC99SS replied to EC99SS's topic in Credit Forum
Thank you. I'm assuming your "yes" to the 2nd question is in regards to allowing the subsequent $500 to carry over and just pay it in full during the 2nd grace period correct? Thanks again -
Hello all I'm finally at the point where I have zero credit card debt (feels oh so good). We diligently paid off for the past year and wiped them clean. I now just received a new Barclays Arrival+. We got it for the points program. I'm a little confused on the approach to pay off the card each month and avoiding interest. I'm hoping you can answer my questions. Little tidbits first: - Billing Period is the 10th through the 21st - Payment is due the following 18th. 1) Let's say I charge $1000 to the card before the 21st. If I pay the $1000 before the due date (18th), there is no interest charged correct? 2) Now what about charges after the 21st? Let's say I charge another $500. Now my "total" card balance is $1500. Do I need to pay the total $1500 by the 18th? What if I pay the $1000 by the 18th (from previous billing cycle) and then pay the $500 off by the next 18th (for current billing cycle). Will this suffice and I avoid interest? I hope that wasn't confusing. We're now set to pay off the card in full each month. I'm just confused about what happens to the charges that occur during the grace period of the previous billing cycle (as in #2 above). I'm not sure if I had to pay that in full also along with the original $1000 or do those subsequent charges flow into the next billing cycle and grace period (without incurring interest). Thanks much!

Thanks for the reply. Sorry but how do you backdoor TU? Thanks

Hi all I received a notice of an alert (through USAA). When in went in all I see iis a new inquiry from TU that says "CITIBANK N.A". How should I try and find out what this is? Thanks!

Does a personal LOC affect credit score diff than personal loan?
EC99SS replied to EC99SS's topic in Credit Forum
Great thank all for the informative replies. My main priority is to consolidate into one location and increase FICO. The percentage will most likely than not be lower than my current CC's so I would save a little bit of money. Thanks again. Looks like a personal loan it is! Now time to shop around. -
hi all I'm looking to consolidate credit cards into one loan. From asking around this also appears to potentially have a positive impact to my credit score as I will now have CC's that net zero balance. At any rate, is there a different between a personal LOC vs a personal loan in terms of impacting my credit score? If I got a personal LOC, will it be viewed the same as if I had another Credit Card? Thanks all for your inputs!

Hi all For the past few months I've really taken interest in watching my credit and improving it as much as possible. My credit isn't bad (730+) but I'd like to continue to raise it. I have a few credit cards (all paid on time each month). Three of which are above 60% debt to credit ratio. I think one is at 70%. I'm not in such debt that we're underwater however looking to build a plan to pay everything off within 2 years. I'm curious which would be a better move in terms of my credit. Continue to have those cards and pay them off within 2 years (say using the snowball method) or get a consolidated loan to cover all 3 and pay it off that way? Granted the loan will save money in the long run. My cards avg 15% APR (ouch). The consolidated loan is 7.99% (through Discover) I would appreciate any pros/cons and opinions you may have. Anything I should consider? Would obtaining a loan (through Discover) hit my credit significantly? Thanks much for your help!
