  1. AMEX hasn't cancelled me (hmmmm dare I say yet? *knocks on wood*) but they did reduce my Costco TrueEarning card from $4.5k to $2.5k - been a member for 2 years, always pay my card in full. This card is particularly nice for getting the cash rebates annually. I got over $250 this past year. The main reason I use my credit cards is for the rebates/rewards. An added bonus is the fact that using a card can create an interest free loan for items spent on it prior to the statement date up to the due date - can't complain about that.
  2. AMEX reduced my TrueEarnings (Costco Card) credit limit from $4500 to $2500... irritating.
  3. I used this method on a AFNI - Charter Communications account and it has been deleted from EQ and EX. I'm assuming also TU although they have not responded to my dispute yet. ETA: That's 2 sucessful deletions using this method.
  4. And here's something interesting - EX deleted. When one CRA deletes, can you somehow get the others to delete?
  5. I got a Target card because I wanted to buy a Dyson (hey - 10% off is worth it I think) - the lady asked me if I "thought" I'd be approved... uhm, yes.. It's taken a bit to get confident about the whole process, but I can pretty much bet on not being denied anymore. Target limit is $4k DH also got approved for a Home Depot card - $3k, paid for our washer/dryer heh
  6. My husband had really bad credit before we were married (think like 450..) and it didn't effect mine at all.
  7. My husband's credit score was 666 for a while (through EQ SW) and we were having really bad luck with our home search/loan stuff. As soon as it bumped up to 677 everything started to fall into place LOL
  8. I thought the 1-2 punch method prevents a collection agency from updating a tradeline? My husband got a EQ SW alert that said AFNI updated the negative account by changing: "Date Opened Changed from N/A to N/A" All 3 credit bureaus received a dispute letter last week yet AFNI was allowed to update the tradeline - how is that? Should I send a letter to AFNI? the CRA?
  9. Thanks for all the comments; I appreciate all the input! I currently have a Best Buy card with a limit of about $10k - I have a 12% off coupon that I can use on a single item, whereas I believe you can get a 10% off a $2k or less purchase from HD and Lowe's if you are moving (which we are). I think we're leaning more towards Maytag, Whirlpool, or LG. Who knew buying appliances was such hard work...
  10. This weekend we'll be getting a washer/dryer/fridge/and other misc. home items and hoping that one of the stores has some kind of Memorial Day sale - from a credit card standpoint, which is the best card? Are there any that give xx% off for opening an account or is it usually just "no payments for xx months"? Are there others besides these 2 we should look at? I'm thinking the total that will be put on the card will be around $2.5k which will be paid in full before the deferred interest kicks in.
  11. I got errors the last time I tried - it worked now though, May 9th! Looks like I can at least get a fridge or a washer/dryer lol
  12. I used this method on one of the stubborn medical accounts on my husband's report - the biggest one ($539) and it was deleted! The other one from the same CA (disputed together with the one that was deleted) is still there, but it's a start. They ended up sending a "please pay" notice instead of validation, so with any luck that one will be deleted too. Thanks to Jack for breaking the code!
  13. Thank you! I'll try that.
  14. Does it matter that he moved to California after the fact? I have no idea when these negative TLs first appeared on his reports - could have been before he moved to Cali in 2005. What should I state in the letter?
