  1. Kohl's cash is new to me, I started using Kohl's for a gift that was from there. It is quite a formula. Most everything in the store is overpriced. They reward you for spending, but the rewards are for the next month. It smells like a trap. It must be somewhat successful though, the line is quite long at checkout. Almost everyone in line uses their Kohls cash at checkout. You do get coupons in the mail for 30% off, which makes the prices somewhat more reasonable. I was able to snag some under armor shirts and shorts on clearance with the discount and kohls cash they came out to $5-10 each. I feel sorry for the random person just paying cash there.
  2. Ironic to have a savings account using an Iphone that is not paid off (for most people).
  3. I am hopeful that I will have the loss refunded to me. I normally keep the card locked, but with only $50 on it at any given time, I figured I would just leave it open. I have, to date, earned $560 USD worth of rewards.
  4. Alright, something smells fishy here. My primary card is a coinbase debit card. It offers 4% back in crypto which has been great for the last 2 years. I load the card with cash and use it for daily expense, raking in the rewards. I try to keep less than $50 in there in case I lose it. Last month, I had an attempt at some random online website. There was no money on the card at the time, so it did not go through. I typically use the card in person for gas (never at pump) and food in person, but also the occasional online bill payment. No big deal, so I order a new card and get it in a week. I resume spending and within a week, there are random charges from the UK and AUS. I always had the old card locked until I would use it, but I felt a little "safe" with the new card. Some transactions slipped through before I noticed, about $40 worth. I was using apple pay through phone as of recently, so the card has only a few swipes at my local gas station in person with PIN #. So, what gives? Is it my computer? The gas station? Keep in mind that my actual credit cards have not had this problem. Is it time to just pay cash? Use apple pay only and never put it online? The rewards have been amazing, but the frustration is not worth the extra $$$.
  5. This was a great story. It took them a LONG time to figure it out.
  6. Midland is a tough one. They have lived with me for years. I had a couple of accounts with them in 06 07 and tried all of the tricks in my bag. I even was able to get friendly with the receptionist (the office was in my city), which did not help. It just eventually aged out and went away.
  7. I purchased my iPhone XR for $250 cash a year ago. Works fine. $1300 for a phone is beyond me (unless you get paid to use it). I will upgrade as the newer models drop in price, but between the XR 11 and 12, not a ton of difference for me. I must be getting old LOL
  8. I had the old "hut" many years ago which was defaulted along with others many years ago. I did apply for fingerhut in 2020 and received a basic line. It has since increased to $1500. Fingerhut is now called Fingerhut Fetti, the tradeline changed on my credit report. It's not really a good deal for buying this, but it is a positive line on your CR without any money required.
  9. As of 2022, Navy Federal and USAA (military banks) no longer finance salvage title.
  10. I have been down this road (recently). One would assume that a secured approach should be gravy, but it is not. When you are at a 500 score, you are the kid that gets picked last at dodgeball. You want to have something positive on your profile, anything at all. You could owe 500k in collections, but without a little positive, it is an uphill battle. When I was in "jail" like you are, I resorted to a service that reports your rent payments on your credit report. There is another service that will let you lend money to yourself, to get reported on the big 3. Do what it takes. If you are sitting at 500, there is something bad going on that you have to fix.
  11. The transfer is finally complete. Now the line shows up in my wallet in Amazon. Also, it has been less than 2 weeks and it is already showing on credit as SYNCB/AMAZON SECURED. It was a pretty fast and smooth process, so something to consider for a rebuild.
  12. This is good. Instead of people buying and selling, they will invest. This should ultimately drive the price up over time.
  13. Paying attention to this. I have a couple of accounts with Portfolio. They have offered as much as 50% off. In the past, having one of these "baddies" removed did not increase my score. I believe it was because my age went down after removal. Of course, it is better in the long run. I'll be curious to find your experience.
