  1. Hi CB! Please help send me to Sydney! I am the only one who works in the public school system as a teacher in my group (the others are students/symphony members already and are fine musicians) and I really want to share this with my students! Your support would mean a great deal to me. You can give my video a thumbs up which will improve the rating by visiting and then you can vote daily through Friday by visiting this link.Thank you CB!
  2. Wow 620 or higher for 2011 is the target huh? I guess I should be happy since we want to buy again.
  3. Thanks Hege! I am happy to be back!
  4. Thank you so much! Here is a direct link: Vote for Cristy for the YouTube Symphony Piccolo Part
  5. Hey CB, It has been a long time and boy have things changed in my life and around here. I am sorry to see the passing of two CB members...very sad indeed. I was a cruddy mod. At that point in my life my job began to consume me. I went through bankruptcy and a crazy time during my marriage, but thankfully things have settled a bit. I apologize that I didn't serve CB well in my position and it definitely made sense to replace me..for this I apologize! CB was a lifesaver to me when I first came here. I am living in Florida with my family and teaching again. Our finances are back to normal and we are renting for the time being. At some point down the road we'll consider a credit card again, but for now, we are happier without one. I've kinda let my performing career go for a bit, up until recently. My mom was visiting for Thanksgiving and I decided to audition for the YouTube Symphony Orchestra! Well after a few rounds, I have made it to the voting stage! Yep, a finalist. I am in shock! The winners get an all-expenses paid trip to Sydney, Australia in March, 2011. It's a pretty nifty gig as you get to play music with people from all over the world. They will only take one of my instrument. I'm here asking for your vote. The other 3 finalists are music students studying with famous teachers and already playing in symphony orchestras. I am just your public school teacher and full-time mom who wants to be able to perform again! My students have asked me to make daily video diaries and do interviews with players of their instruments if I get to go. Totally, done...for them, anything. Anyway, if you remember me and you would like to vote, I would so appreciate it. Just go to YouTube/Symphony and click on the vote tab. From there choose orchestral audition, then find the picture of the piccolo. At that point you will get to 4 videos..mine is the one with the pink kitchen in the background! lol Please also consider sharing this on your social networking sites..I could use all of the support I can get. If you want, you can also subscribe to my channel. I'll put up more videos in the near future. Thanks in advance and I am going to try to get back over here when I am not busy with band/chorus concerts and 13 hour days!!! Cristina

  7. Yes. Everyone is on their period.
  8. I teach in an elementary school and my son attends a different one here in GA. Every child in my school has free lunch and they have no options for junk food in the cafeteria (they do hold a school store in the afternoons for them to buy junk :| ). My son's school will allow you to purchase ice cream and things, but only if you have the extra money. You cannot use the lunch money in your account to buy that stuff.
  9. I'm so sorry. The whole situation sounds like a nightmare.
  10. Politics do affect many aspects of our lives, and it is a shame that the subject cannot be discussed in a civil manner on this board. However, we found through difficult experience, that it is impossible. We made a decision at that point not to allow political discussions on CB. We will not revisit that decision, as I have said numerous times. Those of you who joined after that debacle will not likely understand, since we have put all those posts in an archived forum, and they are not accessible to the general membership. We have no plans to make those posts available in the future. You will just have to accept what we say. We tried it, it didn't work. We found that many members do enjoy a knock-down-drag-out political fight, so we created a separate politics board, http://www.politicsfirst.com It's fun, essentially unmoderated, mostly not all that serious, but it's a brawl. It is not for the faint of heart. CB enjoys a strong sense of community. The "family" atmosphere, the feeling that one's thoughts and feelings will be accepted without judgment, is central to our success. The political discussions bring out the opposite in those individuals who feel a need to convert others to their political views, and those who feel a need to fight back against such individuals. As a result, CB has not only adopted a "politics neutral" stance, we have established a standing rule that any subject which is political in nature, or leads to a politicallly oriented discussion, may only be discussed on the PF site. That is why these threads will be closed, and the participants redirected. In some cases you may see a thread closed when it borders on political topics, but has not yet taken a turn in that direction. That's because, in our experience, we know it will take that turn in the near future. Occasionally, some members feel a need to test the boundaries (a psychological phenomenon well-known in internet communities), by "baiting" other members into a political discussion. Others innocently post a subject they feel warrants discussion, and inadvertently open Pandora's box. We don't try to decide which is which, we just close the threads. It is not personal. If we had our way, we would be able to debate the subject sensibly. Occasionally, someone brings up the question of the owner's political views. We owners do not all agree on politics. It is not an issue that divides us, however. Our focus here is the board, and the welfare of the board, not our political views. We do not get into debating the merits of a particular thread, if we did, we would be putting ourselves in a very difficult position, and we have more important things to do. So, if your thread gets closed, and the participants directed to PF, there is no point in arguing about it. We've already been there and we're not going back. This rule, and the other hard-and-fast rules we have established over time on CB, have proved to be a strong basis for our success. We will always maintain the sense of community and our emphasis on the things we have in common, rather than the things that divide us. This topic is now closed.
  11. I don't have any advice for you, but I had to sign one of those at my daughter's pre-pre-school (like daycare). I think it's all about trust. I have complete trust in their staff and had no problem at all signing the waiver. I know that in a situation like that, they would do their absolute best to make sure everything was handled correctly. Good luck.
  12. Keeping my home would be my first choice (that's just me), so I would probably transfer the balance. I would not use my entire check to pay it off, but I would start nipping away at the balance as much as I could. Good luck to you.
  13. You're not off to a very good start with your pics of the day threads Art.
  14. Thanks! The hottie's name is under the pic. lol The pain is definitely not constant. I wouldn't be able to handle it if it were. It comes and goes. I've gone a whole day without feeling it, then the next day it will start up every half hour or so and last for about 10-15 seconds. I feel it mostly during the day when I'm up and about. It actually reminds me of when I was pregnant and kept feeling feet jabbing me around that area, or somewhere close to it. (Not pregnant) I'm drinking a lot of water and watching my calories, but not so much my fat intake. I guess I could try a few days of lowfat and see if that does it. The doctor took my blood at my last appointment so I guess that's a start, but maybe I'll need to ask for the ultrasound next.
