  1. Hi, Just wondering if someone could check this number for me. 757-533-7007 They keep calling my cellphone and never leave a message or anything. Thanks in advance!!
  2. Hello, My wife and I are able to get the GM discounted price (GMS price) since we have relatives that work for GM. I've got a few internet quotes and it seems to take off about $1500-2000 off the sticker price. Now, my question is how firm are they on this GM price? Is that something that I can possibly get lowered with some negotiations or are they already not making any money off of me at that price in the first place? If anyone has any experiences with negotiating an employee price, I would greatly appreciate any info or advice!! This is going to be my first time really trying to negotiate with a car dealer and I feel quite nervous about screwing up! I can remember when my wife bought a car (used) about 10 years ago and they convinced her to purchase special anti-rust magnets or something, and then sign up for cellular one car phone service (those old phones that came in a big bag!) Anyhow, thanks in advance for any advice!!
  3. After you call up and get the membership number, how long before you can apply for an auto loan, etc? Just got my membership number today and I keep getting this message anytime I try to apply for an auto loan or open up a checking acct. : We do not currently have enough security information to grant you access to this portion of the site. I'm assuming that they need to get some additional info from me like copy of drivers license or maybe a signature card or something?
  4. Hello, My wife and I are looking into getting a new car (or slightly used one) in the near future. I just had a question on getting approved for a car loan before we actually went to the dealer. I wanted to apply online at a couple of different places to see where I can get the best rates. Now, If I applied online at national city bank and say meadows credit union, if they are approved, do I have to take them? I know this probably sounds like a silly question!! Basically, I just dont want to get like 2 offers and then receive two checks in the mail from each offer...or is this how it works and you just cut up the offer you dont want? If I get approved do I get to decline it or is it an automatic thing? Thanks for any help!!!
  5. Thanks for the replies!! It looks like I have a little homework to do now!
  6. Hello, My Father in law recently passed away (end of Dec.) and he had/has a TON of credit card bills, both current and some in collections. He had no house, etc. and didnt leave my wife and her brother much in terms of life insurance. We had sent out letters to his creditors saying he had no estate, so basically the balance due on his accounts was pretty much uncollectable. We got a letter today from one of the collection agencies attorneys ( messerli and Kramer) working for Midland funding. The letter says that we need to advise their office whether probate proceedings have been initiated, and if the are or will be commenced we need to provide them with the name of the personal representative and/or attorney handling the matter. It goes on to say that in the event of a filing a notice of claim will be filed on behalf of their client. Then it says to pay this account in full send check..blah blah blah..... So, my question is do we have to do anything about this or just ignore it? They dont seem to have my wife or my brother in laws name or our address (it was forwarded from his former address to us). After all the funeral expenses and traveling we had to do to take care of his apt and cats, etc, we will be lucky to have about $1000.-- to $2000.00 left over, not nearly enough to even put a dent in all his debt. Thanks for any info you all can give!!!
  7. Oh yeah! I love that feature...NOW. When I was first trying to figure it out though I ended up dumping it back onto the floor because I didn't know it would open like it did. Anyway, my vacuum got some extra work that day. Thats too funny!! I did the same exact thing. Dirt all over the floor when I was trying to figure out how to empty the cannister!! I guess I wasnt paying attention when the salesman demonstrated it to us.
  8. My wife finally convinced me to get this very same vacuum. I had been hesitant to spend over 500.00 for a vacuum, but I'm glad we did. This is a great vacuum and you wouldnt believe what it pulls out of the carpet! I got ours at a best buy for the same price. They told us there that the prices are all controlled by dyson so theres not really a sale on them for that price. Anyhow, I would get one if I were you!
  9. Nope, Palma Ceia CC. People from the North Tampa area know so little of the South Tampa area, usually. I used to pick my girlfriends from S. Tampa only, as too many " cultural differences " existed between the two parts of town. My home was just of MacDill, north of Bay to Bay. My office was on Harbour Island, a few hundred yards from the Athletic Club. The office building was in the same building as the Wyndham Hotel. Hey, I am not that far up North. I am definitely not a cracker from Pasco or Plant City. Hey...I take offense!! I used to live in Pasco. Their not ALL crackers up there!! Hey Jas77. Wasn't trying to offend anyone. Pavlov and I were just commenting on the variety of cultures in the Tampa Bay area. You are one of the few from Pasco that is definitely not a cracker. Why did ya move? Lots of new development going on near Hwy 54 on the otherside of Land O Lakes. Wesley Chapel is also becoming a thriving community. Pavlov....I"ll get a picture up this week. I can't find a current one. I was just kidding, I didnt really take offense. Well, not too much, maybe a smidgen We moved from Pinellas to Pasco because of the lower housing costs. The commute sucked big time going down to seminole but the lower mortgage payment was nice There were plenty of redneck "crackers" up there though! My wife and I just didnt really enjoy Florida too much. We lived there for 4 years and just werent happy I guess. Of course the hurricanes and higher home owners insurance didnt help! I like Florida to visit, but just didnt like living there. So we packed up and moved back up to Indiana. I like the slower pace up here and I actually missed the snow and cooler weather. It turned out for the better as my wife was able to get a job making 4-5x more than what she made in Florida, so all is good!

  11. Hello, I am in need of some skiing advice from you all! I am going to go skiing this weekend for the first time (in Ohio of all places!) and have a couple of questions... 1. The skiing conditions for the trails say it is hard packed. What does this mean for skiing. It doesnt sound like the best type of condition if (when) I fall! 2. How should I dress? The temp. is supposed to get up in the high 40's this weekend. Also, heres a silly question...What do I wear under my newly bought ski pants? I mean, do people just usually wear those or do they wear sweatpants underneath them, etc? 3. Should I rent skis or snowboard? I am thinking skis to first learn and then snowboard after that? Thanks for any help you can all give me!
  12. I just saw that Michael Schiavo just got remarried today. http://www.baynews9.com/content/36/2006/1/22/140378.html This was a popular thread during the whole Teri Schiavo case, so I thought I would dig it back up to post that in case anyone was interested.
  13. Thanks Livingfree, He was living in Florida. I'll have my wife look to see if he had kept a copy of the lease and see what we can find. I've been looking on the internet at a couple of places and it seems that after someone dies, then the estate still has to finish paying the rent. He had no money though, as we were always lending him money. We payed his security deposit several years ago for him and also his pet deposit fee as well I think. Luckily he had some sort of death benefit on his car loan where they will pay off the auto loan. We have to wait for the copies of his death certificate to get that initiated though. I never realized that there were so many things to settle and take care of when someone passes away.
  14. Just a quick question for you all... My father in law recently passed away. He was living in a senior/housing authority apt. at the time. When we cleaned out his apt. last month we were told they would send his security deposit to us in the mail. We got a certified letter on Friday saying that they are keeping the security deposit because they charged him a lease termination fee and then used the security deposit money to pay for it. Now, this may be legal, but it doesnt seem right to me. Its not like he broke the lease on purpose. Also, shouldnt he have been receiving interest on his security deposit? Thanks in advance for any input!
  15. Yayyy. We closed today. Everything went nice and smooth. We were in and out of the title company in about 40 minutes or so. Now the fun part of moving..ughhhh. Its nice to be able to call the house our own now Good luck to everyone else closing in Dec. and congrats to the others who already closed this month!!
