  1. Yeah it sucks. You get penalized for using the card too much or too little. Catch 22.
  2. First off, you have got to stop chatting them up on the phone. Collections agencies will lie thru their teeth to try to make you pay it all so they can get you to pay and they can get their commission. You need to really READ READ READ, hell spend 5 hours reading this site. I mean, there is ALOT of good info on this site and I think it would be well worth your time IF you want to really repair your credit to the point where there will be nothing bad on there. A "Settled" record is not good, "Paid late" is not good or anything else they might mark it as after you pay them. YOU have the power because you have the money they want, make them give you what you want.
  3. lol @ JFCU. But yeah I meant to say they told me they will be doing a CREDIT check as well as the background. I figured I wouldn't be seeing "US Government" on my inquiry list, lol. I just hope that if they do get somebody to pull credit they pull the one my previous employers have pulled because my other 2 have a debt I'm in the process of disputing
  4. I'm about to go through a background check for DOJ for a contractor position and was told they will do a background check. Anybody know who they pull from?
  5. hmmm, when i had NCO on my report i emailed the president i think my DV and he forwarded it to the right person and she handled everything quickly and it was off my report quickly. The lady I dealt with did actually get "validation" but the validation showed that I didn't owe the amount they wanted so she deleted it off my report and sent me a letter letting me know she had done that...Some people had emailed them and just got it deleted in a couple weeks no questions asked.. they have never called me tho..
  6. oh I didn't even know about that. These folks just don't follow the law. Well, is there anything I can do about that. Anywhere I can find the written law on that? Maybe I can write the current CA and let them know that the former one couldn't validate so they are in violation right now?
  7. I'm looking at the letter and no I did not put C&D in there. bad mistake but nonetheless they tried calling me that day and a few days later but that was about 3 weeks ago. They still haven't sent me any proof and I doubt they will so what do I do next besides dispute with agencies?
  8. I DV'd Anchor Associates about a bank debt that another collection agency tried to collect on me previously. I sent the other CA a DV, the acknowledged it, told the agencies I was disputing it and then sent me what they thought was proof. That "proof" was actually in my favor though and after I told them they deleted it off my reports and sent me a letter saying that the deleted. Now they have sold it to Anchor. Isent them a DV, they called me at my house the same day they got it and left a message wanting me to call them back. I didn't, they have not told the agencies I am disputing it like the last agency did and they have not sent me any proof of the debt. What do I do now? I believe I need to dispute it with the agencies myself but what if it comes back "verified" even though I have sent DV and they can't prove it?
  9. ok I researched the FHA thing... even with programs like this, wouldn't it still help if she established some credit? She plans on buying in maybe 2 years.
  10. double post, my computer is slow
  11. a mortgage with a good fixed rate?? gotta research this...
  12. My mom has NO credit. She wants to buy a condo or house. I told her as I have always told her it would be best for her to get some credit or that wont happen. I even have been telling her to order a credit report. I doubt she has one but never know... WOuld she even qualify for a Capital One? I see one requirement is to at least have a credit score but not sure how strict they are. Basically they have 1 card with $39 annual fee and 1 with no annual fee. Of course I want her to get the one without but is it easier toget the one with?? anybody know?
  13. smh, what is wrong with these CAs
  14. The lesson here: Do not be afraid to follow up after a failed DV attempt. After DVing NCO they deleted off of 2 credit bureas but kept TransUnion on there and proceeded to send me the records they got from the OC stating here is your validation. Well, the final owed amount was not the same as the credit report, somewhere down the line $30 had been added to the amount and that's what was on my CR. So I replied and said the amount is off as I'm sure you can see now that you have the records so delete now, thank you... And now it's OFF So, my question is, could this still come back on my or am I in the clear? Please let me know what possibily could happen so I can prepare myself.
