  1. You don't need to book the flight with your platinum card. You just need to show the card and your ticket.
  2. amex backdated plat opened this year to match a non-reporting corp card that was opened in 05. They didn't do the same for a blue that was opened last year. not sure if I can request it...
  3. I agree amex's revolving products stink. even the much lauded blue has a hidden $65 a year fee. what $65 fee?
  4. oops! looks like this is old news and probably dead.
  5. American Express Co. plans to announce today what is believed to be the first program designed to allow consumers to put their monthly mortgage payments on plastic -- and to earn credit-card rewards for doing so... http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1179886932...pj_main_hs_coll
  6. did you ask the CA for verification? there's a good chance Chase wouldn't bother to waste time looking into pre-acquisition accounts for the CA if they asked Chase for any needed details.

    NFCU CLI

requested CLI online from 2k to 15k and got it. took 2 days to show. not sure if they pulled a hard. Had the card since last april and never used it. already had another nfcu card at 15k.
  8. You should still check your niece's reports to see if there was an change. I just read a few days ago on flyertalk that the "member since" date on the card is simply cosmetic and can easily be changed while the AU's real date (reporting date) will still be whenever she was added as AU. Thanks, I will have her check a report in a few months. You should be fine, Looks like I got it wrong. I had it backwards. here's the post from flyertalk http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/american-ex...er-since-5.html

I just read a few days ago on flyertalk that the "member since" date on the card is simply cosmetic and can easily be changed while the AU's real date (reporting date) will still be whenever she was added as AU. If this is true then it is very new, all my spouses AU cards report as opened in 1990/1991 on her credit reports and I added the latest one for her 3 months ago. Interesting. When did she get her first Amex (AU otherwise)?

    Blue Cash

Just got another CLI (4k). second auto CLI in about 2 months. took my be surprise. My guess is they've been peeking at my credit report cos I just got a 13k CLI on one of my NFCU cards last month.

    Blue Cash

I've had my blue cash just over a year and I've been lucky to get 3 CLIs. I requested the first online. the second via phone cos I needed to make a large purchase. the third was an auto CLI. I have my account setup for full auto payment and I think that helped with getting the second CLI because the phone rep mentioned that I pay off my card in full and in time every month without any prompting from me. I also made sure my other cards were paid off before their cut off dates in other to make them appear like they got little to no activity. not sure how much that helped or if it did at all. my CL is still on the lower end of my cards at 15k but it sure beats the $3500 I started with a year ago.

    Blue Cash

I have the blue cash. I've requested CLIs and I've also received auto CLIs. I use it quite a bit though.
  14. $450 for a back-up card??? I could just 'upgrade' my blue cash but I prefer cashback to the points thing. cashback for the past year on my blue cash was little more than the $450 fee for the platinum so i figure it's not really coming out of my pocket. main reason for considering the platinum is because I live in NYC. The card comes in handy for getting into events in the NY area. I figure if I get those perks and use a few lounge stays at the airport, the card would pay for itself.
  15. still happy with Amex bluecash. started off my year with a 6k CLI. considering getting the platinum as a secondary card but just can't decide if it's worth it.
