Holy smokes! Sorry to hear about the break in But the house is BEAUTIFUL Double the locks, invest in an alarm, we are in a "good" neighborhood but we are still going to alarm the house. We worked too hard for the little we have and the 35$ a month costs will just be one less "pay" channel on cable, we would much rather have peace of mind than watch a movie - lol We are set to close in 9 days and when the home inspector, relator and myself went for the inspection "someone" had gone in and removed all of the window blinds and hardware!! Our real estate agent says we will "mention it at the walk through" but I don't expect anything good... the house was a bank owned property and I guess they were in there to do "something" and decided they wanted the blinds and hardware (why, we don't know-they are nothing special). I guess its just the point that anytime someone takes what is yours flat out sucks.... The house is very nice! Enjoy it and don't let this bump freak you out

Good luck! I actually have a letter from the president of verizon's office stating that even though they show my account as paid it was sent to AFNI for collection?! WTF!? I sent a copy to the EQ, EX and TU and they refuse to accept my documentation saying that unless they hear it directly from Verizon they will not delete.... long story short all 3 Verizon show "paid" but AFNI still shows 3 separate "charge offs" : aggressive: I've written the BBB, Michigan AG as well as my own states AG - its just a big circle..... AFNI backs off pretty easily but then they show up out of the blue.... Hang in there!

Wow Jolla- your comments are a bit harsh, this is a learning process otherwise why would anyone blog about it? This forum is very helpful to many people! FYI, I received a letter from the Housing and Urban Development department with a complaint to be filled out and sent back to them-they stated in their letter " We will be looking into the particular seller's practices once your filled out complaint is received" so HUD must see something you didn't.... who knows if HUD will actually follow up? The point is that if you suspect dishonest practices by real estate brokers you should bring it to the attention of someone who can do something about it and not just be a sheep!

Hello, We ended up not buying the house with the mold not because we didn't have the escrow money but because the listing agent simply refused to sell it to us! I know what you are thinking, "thats discrimination"- guess what? its not... We are not of any particular ethnic persuasion, not over 65 or disabled so according to the ACLU we were not discriminated against. WTF? The house was re-listed at 204,000.00- we offered them 250,000 and they still would not sell to us and all Fannie Mae did was give us a run around. I NEVER did get a callback from their "level 2" person - what a nightmare! We have a new agent, a new lawyer and are in the process of buying a different REO property (different listing agent)and so far things are going ok.... so that proves to me beyond doubt that this particular agent is rogue. Our new agent told us outright that he was told by the first listing agent that "under no circumstances will we sell them a house" !! We offered them 22,000 OVER the asking price and they simply would not sell to us! What a scam! Once all is done and we are in a purchased home I will write to every office of the government I can think of to let them know what happened, if for no other reason to hopefully deter someone else having to go through the same crap with this particular agent who is playing God of all property. Everyone says "it was good you didn't get the first house because the new one is in much better shape" and thats true BUT I missed the 8,000 first time home buyer credit (we submitted our offer on 4/22-seller did not come back with a signed contract until 5/12) I can't just let them get away with that! If anyone has suggestion on who I can contact let me know .... I'll keep posting the saga for anyone interested

Hello if we signed a contract and submitted it to the seller (bank owned REO property) on April 22nd and they didn't "accept" our offer until May 12th can we still get the 8,000.00 tax credit? What is considered a "binding contract"? Since we can't change our offer to the seller wouldn't we have technically gone into a binding contract on April 22nd?

Way to go! I hope this one works out for you! I'm still waiting for the "final answer" from the REO bank?! I hate REO's and will NEVER deal with them again. I laughed at the poster who said "Banks are I the lending business, not the real estate business and the longer the property is on their books they are losing money. ALWAYS PLAY HARDBALL with banks with these REO's many of them can be picked up for 25 to 30 cents on the dollar. I've bought nine homes since the real estate collapse and will be purchasing more as the prices continue to get better make no mistake about it real estate prices are going to flat-line soon people think the worst is behind us........don't hold your breath. When this buyer credit of $8000 dollars is over...watch how fast it comes.....that's the only thing keeping it up now" I've come to learn REO's can do whatever they want and no one controls them and doesn't give a rat's flowers about you - good luck!

Hello I have fought the fight with Verizon and even when they say they "understand" and will "adjust how the information is being reported" you will still see it as a PAID COLLECTION or PAID AFTER COLLECTION so it will have the same negative affect. Try to see if they will adjust your report to simply reflect PAID. Good luck - Verizon wireless sucks and believe me now that you've contacted them they will sell your info to as many junk debt buyers that will pay for it. You could check out Planetfeedback.com to get some exec. names you can plead your case to, that might help also

I agree Doug but how would we know that what he was telling us was not correct and this was not how things of this nature were "normally done"? I stated several times I was not getting any copies of correspondence and he simply ignored me. I know better now and from what I've been reading I should be able to report this to an ethics board. Even the new lawyer agrees that his mis handling of this contract was unethical but would not go as far as to say it was criminal. When and if we close on this property I will go after him with full force to any authority I can find. How do you sue a lawyer?! It is highly unlikely that I would find anyone willing to go against their own don't you think?
-
Found a house, got the financing but our lawyer never told us that he could not get our closing date extended and by what I can see from the paperwork he never tried.... do I have any recourse? We got a new lawyer and we've made another offer on the property and are waiting for the seller to decide if they want to sell to us? WTF?! Is this normal????? The old lawyer said "don't worry I won't charge you since you are obviously uncomfortable with my decisions on your behalf" - He is insane and was never given the ok to keep us uninformed actually my first letter to him after our initial meeting specifically states I want to be copied on any and all correspondence, when I pointed that out to him at our 2nd meeting he just laughed and said "I'm much too busy for that and besides you don't want to be involved in all the back and forth" Yes buttface, I did, maybe we wouldn't have lost the property and had to start the whole process again!!! ARGH!! If we outright lose the property can I sue this clown?
-
yeah, it would be great if they actually sold the houses they list instead of just putting potential buyers through the mill - when you contact a listing agent they treat you like they are doing you a favor! We are trying to purchase a Fannie Mae owned house but it is ridiculous; the listing agents refuse to follow the rules and no one cares. Its sad really

Hello All Latest update is I got a call from our new real estate agent and the seller "has many offers" and will "make a decision" by Wednesday this week?!?! After Wednesday I will have to give up; without the $8K first time buyer credit we would be sinking all of our funds into a loan without leaving ourselves with any reserves and I'm just not ready to do that. We'll just keep renting-everyone loses for no reason. I tried, I really did and I've documented every step so I will use my media contacts and do whatever I can to help others understand the process but really it seems useless to continue to hope we will get this or any other house simply because no one will talk to each other... sad.

Hello - Yes Vintagespeed, you are correct-this is a mountain out of a molehill! Update on situation: Got a call from the seller asking me if I wanted to purchase the property because it was now available?! WTF??? To make a very long story short the attorney recommended to me by the real estate agent never contacted seller about anything and the contract had expired!!! The file the jerk lawyer sent to new lawyer contained no communication to seller about any of questions or concerns. I have fired the lawyer, fired the real estate agent and am starting all over again with new people and we have an expected closing date of 5/15. I think I'm gonna write a book.

I've been trying to purchase a Fannie Mae owned property since Dec 2009 - good luck. I think the whole thing is a scam. "Afforable housing" yeah, right.... until the listing broker realizes they can get more for it! Beware of the listing agent and don't be afraid to contact Fannie Mae with any complaints etc 800-732-6643
