  1. Hello All, I have over the past few months begin repairing my credit and have one more issue to deal with. I originally defaulted on a loan agreement between myself and a college back in 2006. The agreement was for 12 monthly payments. This is how it is reported under Experian: Condition: Open Type: Unsecured Loan Pay Status: 180 Days Late Past Due xxxx High Balance: xxxx Terms: 120 months Opened: 6/06 Reported: 5/11 Responsibility: Individual Late Payments: 30 days: 0 60 days: 0 90 days: 33 My question is this: *The agreement was made for 12 monthly payments, the college keeps reporting it since it is magically now a ten year agreement. Should I attempted to dispute that? Do I have a case if they violated reporting it incorrectly 33 times?
  2. Hello All, I have a student loan that is currently in default and shows up on my credit report. The terms of the agreement is for one year. It has been over three years since I sign the agreement; however, on the report it shows the term to be 120 months (10 years) and they keep reporting it 180 days late every month ever since last payment. The reason I want to challenge it is because I ask for a pay for remove and they refuse to take the information off the credit report even after I pay it. I have the original agreement showing the terms being one year. Do I have a case for challenging?
  3. I agree. If you are not taking the vacation until June, it's risky to expect the CL to remain intact until then especially after the lump payment. How about breaking down your payment in two or three payments and using the available balance to pre-pay some of your travel expenses...like the airfare, hotel, etc.? Of course you'll have to start making the payments and pay the interest sooner than would have been the case before. I assumed this was BOOKING THE WHOLE VACATION PACKAGE ON-LINE (flight/hotel/car rental) It is either approved or denied in less than 30 seconds I can book the entire trip with my debit card from my local bank - the issue that I am fearing is that the major hotels will require a credit card, to hold additional fees and so forth and I want to have the CL in place for any large transactions. I had difficulty at a hotel in AC with my debit card and had to deal with the $1300 error they made when they double charge me; so that is why I really want a strong CL before I go WHAT IS AC Sorry - Atlantic City

  5. Hello Everyone, I am planning to pay off $1600 on one of my Chase Cards (Credit Limit of $2000) on Friday. I am planning to use the new free up credit in order to secure my vacation that I plan to take in June. However, I fear that with the current trend of Chase and major card companies "chasing the balance" that my Credit Limit will be reduced dramatically. I thought of calling them before making the transfer to prevent it but I am unsure. Any ideas to preserve the CL and prevent them chasing the balance.
  6. Hello, Before I get into my question, I first want to thank everyone, especially mca, who help run and answer this section of the creditboards. I actually was a member of chexvictims several years ago when I got my chex systems death stamp for NSF and with the help of the board, got an account and now out of chex systems and loving it. My question: I have a friend who three years ago got a report to chex for account abuse. Recently, the bank that reported the friend got bought out and is operating under the new bank's name. Should I tell him to go ahead and attempt to validate the entry in hopes that the old bank can not validate? Also, if the new bank validates the claim, can it be renew for another 5 year death sentence. Thanks again everyone!
