  1. I am considering using a credit counseling program. My husband and I have gotten in over our heads, and I am realizing that I will need help to get out. I am current on all of my credit card payments, but am just barely able to make them each month, and am making no progress to paying them off. Currently have the following credit card/revolving debt balances (between myself and my husband): The Home Depot $1430 at 29.99%, min payment $50 HSBC $388 at 27.74%, min payment $22 HSBC $498 at 19.99%, min payment $21 HSBC $276 at 19.99%, min payment $15 HSBC $388 at 21.99%, min payment $15 Shell $438 at 25%, min payment $12 Walmart $794 at 22.9%, min payment $34 Walmart $940 at 22.9%, min payment $40 Hooters $1250 at 21.7 %, min payemtn $48 Capital One $1500 at 20%, min payment $40 JC Penney $1450 at 23.99%, min payment $60 Also have a Harley Davidson card, Lowes card, and 2 capital one cards that have much lower interest rates, so i'm not sure if i should include those... and 3 conn's accounts, but am not sure if i can do those either (furniture, computer, tv) Thru the counseling service, what can i expect? Lower payments? How much of a credit score hit and for approx how long? Would appreciate any information and/or advice.
  2. My hubby & I have been a little tight on cash since he has had reduced hours. I paid late on his Harley Motorcycle loan (due 16th of the month), I paid the 12/16 payment on 1/6...and the 1/16 payment on 2/3. They reported me 30 days late for the months of December & January! Is this right? I was less than 30 days late. Any advice?
  3. I have Farmers-Texas Fair Plan...I pay $75/month and I shopped around a lot! I bought my house in Aug-07 for $160K, just outside of Houston.
  4. Thanks for the input...I already spoke with a Nissan customer service rep and they said that after I make my first payment on 12/11, that I can change the monthly due date. I just wanted to check with the credit board guru's because I am wary of trusting customer service rep's....
  5. I purchased a new car thru Nissan and was financed by NMAC. My first payment is set for 12/11, I would very much prefer to have my due dates just past the 15th of each month (like the 16th or 17th). I called NMAC, and the customer service representative said that to be eligible to change your due date, you must atleast have one payment on the account. So I am planning to make my first payment by 12/11, and am hoping to be able to call and change my next due date from 1/11 to 1/17, and to on the 17th of each month after that. Just wanted to see if anyone else has done this/had any experience with this. Thanks in advance for your input!

  7. Hi - I think that I read somewhere or heard somewhere that your score will increase from 5-10 per tradeline when you pay it off or pay it down (below 30%)...is this correct? I paid off the following accounts last Friday, they were maxed out for several months previously and was just curious how much it will affect my score in the upcoming month: Ikea card: Paid $285 to bring it down to $0, it's a $300 cl JC Penney Card: Paid $170 to bring it down to $0, it's a $200 cl Lowes Card: Paid $355 to bring it down to $0, it's a $400 cl HSBC CC: Paid $380 to bring it down to $0, it's a $400 cl and on my husband's: HSBC CC: Paid $250 to bring it down to $0, its a $300 cl Thanks!
  8. Toyota: I have several (8) 30 day late payments on my Experian & Equifax reports, (only 3 on Transunion), they are all from 2003 - 2005. The auto loan was paid off in early 2006. Primus: I have several (11) 30 day late payments on my Experian & Equifax reports, (only 1 on Transunion), they are all 2002-2005. The auto loan was paid off in early 2005. I have tried goodwill, disputes, validation...but no luck... Anyone else had any luck with either of these? Any suggestions?
  9. Hi All- I have a Capital One Card that I opened in Feb 03, not sure exactly when it charged off, the credit limit was $200, $918 was the amount charged off ...now $1811 is past due. I am definitely uot of the 4 yr SOL. The date to be removed per Transunion is 8/2010 (2 years from now!) and per Experian it's 1/2011... Also, Transunion shows no late payments, while Experian shows 1 30-day late, 1 60-day late and 3 90+ day lates....and Equifax is showing 1 30-day late, 1 60-day late and 24 90+ day lates. And of course, this account is updating every month as charged off and terribly impairing my credit file. Just wondering how much of an improvement others saw when they paid it off...Also, did you pay in full or do a settlement? Also wondering how much I would have to pay since this was initially a $200 credit card....and now is showing $1811 past due! Thanks!
  10. I think Home Depot has the better credit limits! I received a $1000 cl last August from HD, and then applied for Lowe's early this year and only got $400...
  11. Soooo...I've been working on cleaning up my credit reports off and on for almost a year. But I still have a handful of accounts/tradelines that I cannot seem to get to budge. I've tried the Jack Attack, goodwill leters, verifying the debts, validation, etc....but I'm running out of ideas and motivation! I'd appreciate any advise you have! On all three reports: Capital One - $1831 past due today, charged off in 03; with TU 0 lates, with Experian 1/1/3 lates and with Equifax 1/1/24 lates. Toyota Financial Services - late payments only... TU shows 3 at 30 days late, Exp & Equifax show 8 Primus Financial Services - late payments only....TU shows 2, Exp & Equifax show 11 On Experian & Transunion: Old Navy/GEMB - $0 balance. this account was paid for less than full amount in 10/04, and experian is showing 8 late pays and transunion pay status says "late 120 days" (1/2/5). Target - $0 balance. this account was paid for less than full amount around May 02. Chargeoff. Preferred Credit - Charge off as bad debt $623. Experian shows lates 1/2/12 (1-30 day late, 2-60 day late, 12-90+ days late). On Experian Only: Walmart - 1/3/6 late. account transferred to another lender Dillard's - In 2/2007 I paid this charged off account for deletion to the collection agency... Thanks for any advise you may have!
  12. Equifax used to be my highest...until May 08, where it dropped 50 points for no apparent reason. The only thing I can see is that they removed all of the accounts that I am an authorized user on. So now Transunion is my highest, and Equifax is my lowest...........
