  1. To make a long story short-- My paychecks and tax refunds have been garnished for the past couple of years to the tune of $633.00 per month for the wage garnishments. The tax refunds don't amount to $1000. Today, I received a message on my voicemail from someone at General Revenue Corporation regarding a delinquent account. I'm up to date on all my bills, and I know that Sallie Mae once owned GRC, so it can only be my defaulted loan. If they're garnishing my wages and tax refunds-- What else can they do???
  2. I was told I would have to pay $925 on top of the $664/mo being garnished from my wages. That comes to a total of $1589/month, and me and my child would be out on the streets, and having been there once, there's no way I'm trying to be there again! I'm not making excuses for owing the loan-- having been unemployed periodically due to domestic abuse... but now that I'm back on my feet again, I want to pay the loan, as it's the only negative thing on my credit report-- and I borrowed it, I need to pay it. Is there anything at all I can do?? Please advise!
  3. Thanks so much Lynn for responding so quickly! There's no judgement against me, the Credit Report just shows that the loan was placed for collection. I'll investigate this and more over the weekend, and make a decision.
  4. OK, since the Loan Rehabilitation is not a viable option for me, as I cannot afford to pay the rehab amount plus the garnishment amount-- Loan Consolidation seems as if it is an option. 1. Could I qualify for Loan Consolidation with the Loan I have (USA Funds Loan Sallie Mae)? 2. Will the Garnishment of my wages cease? 3. How long would the former loan info from USA Funds show up on my credit report? Please help! Thank you!
  5. The CA was correct....those are the requirements. They are on the DOE site too. Is there another alternative that I can do other than the garnished wages like consolidating? Would I be eligible for consolidation?
  6. I attempted to rehabilitate my student loan today as my wages are currently being garnished. The person I spoke to at General Revenue Corporation stated that I could do so, however, I would have to pay the Rehabilitation amount and my wages would continue to be garnished until the 9 payments in 10 months end. She also stated that my wages would still continue to be garnished after that. When I continued to question her, she abruptly hung up on me. At this point, it's much cheaper to have them garnish my wages, than me paying the rehabilitation amount, and them to keep garnishing my wages indefinitely. What's the point of Rehabilitation then? Was the woman from General Revenue Corporation correct? Can they still garnish my wages while in Rehabilitation? HELP!
