  1. If your parents will add you to one of their cards, and you are 100% confident they will always maintain a good standing on it, that would probably help a lot. And get one or two other accounts, always pay on time, and maintain less than 30% utilization. Time is your friend. As your accounts age, it will help your scores quite a bit.
  2. I also got a Firestone card just the other day ($1200) I have no use for it other than rebuilding my credit after a bankruptcy 1 yr ago. I wouldn't let them touch my car for any reason whatsoever, except maybe a new windshield wiper.
  3. I recently applied for a Chase account online, I funded it with my other checking account. They withdrew the money from my other account, sent me a debit card, then right after sent me a letter they were closing my account because of Early Warning Systems? It took over a month to get my money back from them that was my initial deposit. I guess I have to get a report from EWS, I can't imagine why there would be anything on there.
  4. I have ING Direct and today I had a GRRRRRR!!!!!!!! moment with them. It was I guess my fault, but I am still peeved. I accidentally scheduled a bill payment for two days early, before my direct deposit hit. Well, ING doesn't charge overdraft fees, they simply will deny the transaction or take it out of your overdraft line of credit. So I thought ok, not too bad of a problem. Well, I got a call today saying an ACH transaction tried to clear and I didn't have enough funds, and this is my final warning, if it happens again in 60 days they will close my account. What?! When did I ever get a previous warning? Talk about rude and offensive. I tried to talk with someone about it, and they told me to send a message to the customer care team, or something like that, thru their website, and someone would reply in 24 hours. Nice. Thank you ING!

  6. I somehow signed up for it, and it seems to show my credit scores as being much higher than they actually are. I do think the info it proves otherwise is great considering it's free, but I guess you get what you pay for and have to take it with a grain of salt.
  7. I used them, they did work, but very slowly. If you're not in a hurry, they will probably bring you success, but if you get impatient, you can have success on your own as well.

  9. Based upon my own personal experience (I have bought 32 cars), if you need to finance a car, then: 1) have provable income / job 2) have a down payment 3) be prepared to pay a high interest rate if you don't have good credit I have never not been able to get a car loan no matter how bad my credit sucked. The question is, do you want to waste all your money on ridiculous interest. You will need to put money down, probably at least $2,000 - you can actually buy a car for that amount. Not a fancy one, but a car that will run. And you can continue to save to buy a better car after that, and/or save up a down payment for a newer car. FYI - I filed BK and about a month after it was discharged, I bought a brand new car financed by Ford Motor Credit at a fairly low interest rate - don't know how, but it happened. I picked out a car on the showroom floor, and two hours later I was driving it home.
  10. Just wondering why you don't pay the debt, since you owe the money. It may sound simplistic, but if you occured the debt, and you owe the money, do you feel like you should pay it?
  11. When considering a collection agency is bad, is it because they are trying to collect because you owe them money, or is because they are trying to collect when you don't owe them money.
  12. I love this forum, but I noticed that when reading through the foums, there is so much advice, speculation, and opinion based upon alleged experience. Nothing but factual information really helps those that need help, in these cirumastances. So I am suggesting that people only respond when they know what that have to say is factually accurate, and substantiated by law/statute. Just guessing or speculating really does not help those who need assistance.
  13. I filed mine on the 24th, it was accepted on the 25th, and I already received my refund in my bank on 2/1. It was pretty quick.
  14. Oh yeah, sorry for forgetting the rest. So they told me to contact EWS to get a letter that everything was all cleared up, so they could activate the debit card. In the mean time, they closed the account immediately. I assume they will return the initial deposit to me. So yes, it was easy to open an account, but it was closed quickly...
