Too Little, too late. I fired HSBC BBRZ last Tuesday. 30 months with a $850 limit, I now have 3 cards with >5000 limits . Use them as long as you need to then drop them like a bad date .

I also applied to SDFCU and they appear to really focus on utilization. They pulled Equifax (682) and asked if accounts had been opened by those creditors (no). I also had to provide proof of income from rental property. Customer service reps have been excellent. Once approved, I asked if the limit could br raised by another $5000. They were very helpful and my request has been sent back to underwriters.

My PSECU experience I also applied on 3/27 and received my welcome email on April 4. I was going to wait to apply for the VISA/PSL Combo, but I bite the bullet this morning, When I checked the status of my application, they wanted proof that a small collection (less than $100) was paid. I paid over the telephone and faxed a copy of the receipt that had been emailed to me. I received a telephone call within the hour about one item on my credit report (not negative more of a debt to income issue). I was placed on hold for two minutes while the loan officer (Sue) performed her calculations. She came back on the line and said "congratulations you have been approved for $20,000" . This is my highest limit and I will be dropping Bank of America checking account as soon as payroll changes my direct deposit to PSECU. Thank you creditboards!!! although I do not post often the advice I have received from the Credit Forum over the years has been life changing. I remain a work in progress, but have come up from scores in the mid 400s. fwilson00

Yes, this is what would happen at my former library. If the book was returned after the patron has been sent to collections, the ILS automatically generated a report for Unique that was sent on a weekly basis. If your remaining fees no longer met the library's collection threshold, the account was returned to our library. Library's do not want to send you to collections. Their primary concern is the return of materials not to ruin your credit, which is why they specifically deal with an agency like Unique (imagine any other collection agency). Look at your Library's website to see how it handles overdue materials. My advice is to return the book, DO NOT buy a new one if the old one remains in your possession. fwilson

As a librarian, although I find the director's reply somewhat rude I understand her response. To be sent to Unique Collections means that multiple letters regarding the overdue/lost item were ignored by the parent. In addition, while the book may cost 10.00 by the time it is cataloged and processed by staff the cost of the item can double. You ignored repeated attempts to get you to return the item. This happens all the time because the attitude is "it's just a library book". If it was lost you could have purchased a replacement copy and avoided collections. Enough of the soapbox and now some advice. If you still have the item return it to the library. Because librarys would like their materials returned and most have a threshold (usually $20) before you are sent to collections, returning the book should automatically trigger a "recall" of the delinquent account from Unique (as long as the overdue fees are under the threshold). My advice is to go to the Library's website and look for information on overdue materials. Good luck, fwilson

I had the same thing happen to me this past week. I opened an account last Monday. Opened a checking and savings account on Tuesday, attempted to login Friday and was told to call. I called on Monday and was told the account was closed and not given any explanation. I do not have anything in chex and bankruptcy was discharged in 2003.
